All very friendly staff, lovely and clean great decor everywhere. Spacious in the pub area very warm and cozy. Nothing was any problem staff totally on board, good communication. The best stay we’ve have had in a long while. Meals cooked to perfection and done how you personally like it ( I really enjoyed this as I do have a few dietary problems). We also liked the way the rooms were just alongside the pub so you didn’t have to keep walking through the pub to get to them. So nicer to come and go as you please! Plenty of shops near by and walks great place to stay and visit!

The only thing which isn’t their fault due to the age of the property is car parking but again helpful to accommodate and help with your parking.

A wonderful pub with rooms next door in the charming town of Knighton. The restaurant is run as 100% gluten-free and no wheat based products are allowed on site so the risk of contamination is minimised. The gluten free bread was homemade and delicious. The breakfasts were fantastic. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Great location for walking and visiting either Shropshire, Herefordshire or Wales!

The beds were a little creaky!!!

We stayed in Knighton a few months ago at a different hotel, and after a couple of meals at the George and Dragon we decided that we would stay on our next visit (we visit for walking). We were greeted with a very friendly welcome on our arrival, and our room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Both breakfast and the meals we ate in the bar/restaurant in the evenings were delicious: the only problem for us was that there was too much food - a rare problem these days! All the food is both gluten and dairy-free, but this did not compromise the taste or quality in any way. Malcolm is an excellent chef.

The only issue for me was parking. There is a very narrow space big enough for only two cars.

Warm and friendly friendly greeting from Malc, top chef! The hotel rooms are annexed to the pub and are accessed by a short flight of stairs. Comfortable bedroom and nicely furnished. Plenty of tea and coffee available. The pub itself is fabulous. A lot of thought and money has been put into a full refurbishment and it shows! What a gem. We ate here in the evening. We were surprised to find out that the restaurant is completely gluten free, with accreditation, and also completely dairy free. My partner and I are not gluten intolerant and we're a little cautious that our food would be 'different' but I can honestly say that it was one of the nicest meals I have had for a long time. Delicious. Another bonus was there was plenty of room to park our motorbike. During our stay the owner chatted to us about the future plans for the restaurant and we will definitely be returning!!!

Faultless!

Perfectly located for The Offa’s Dyke post Kington section. Great value, comfortable self contained room with en-suite and ridiculously (in a good way) powerful shower. Family run business of 2 generations over 20 years, son and parents all still at the helm. Whilst appears just a great walkers and locals pub there is another interesting side. Chef has developed a gluten and dairy free proposition from Sunday roasts to a la carte and bar menu, couldn’t recommend the food highly enough. Also total listing of ingredients to ensure anyone with food intolerances isn’t caught out. Really worthy of support in my opinion, ground breaking and refreshing.

I've been asking my boyfriend to bring me here for ages because it is exclusively gluten and dairy free. It was so nice not to have to worry about what I was eating! The staff were very knowledgeable about allergies and very friendly. The hotel room was beautiful, very rustic and comfortable. Knighton itself is a lovely little town with such friendly people. We had a walk around with our dog, there isn't much there but it's a hidden gem of a town.

The only 2 downsides I would say was the noise from the pub when we were trying to get to sleep, we happened to stay the night of the annual wheelbarrow race and the town was really busy but whilst we are out in the pub, everyone was so friendly. The other was the shower, the pressure wasn't very good but it did the job.

The host ( Malcolm)who was very knowledgeable about Coeliac disease and very friendly. . As my wife is Coeliac , for her to be able to eat restaurant food without fear of cross contamination was an absolute pleasure. The food itself was excellent. Evening and breakfast. Malcolm went out of his way to ensure we had a cooked meal even though it is usually his night off.

Not being informed when booking about Monday night being closed in the restaurant. Fortunately Malcolm sorted this for us but it does need to be mentioned on the booking form.

Location was excellent - superb drive through mid-Wales to the Marches. Accommodation within the convert stables was superb, high quality and welcoming. The inn has been equally refurbished to high standard and like the proprietors very welcoming. The menu was gluten and dairy free and varied - awesome not to have to ask which choices could be gluten-free - hope the George retains this approach and achieve the accreditation. The food was excellent.

Non-availability of gluten-free real ales to go with the gluten-and-dairy free menu was a bit disappointing but conversations with the owners in sourcing local brewery suppliers promises this will be up. We will be back to check.

Gluten free. Cooked for us and offered limited menu, but this gave us plenty if choice, even though restaurant was closed. So did not get to try some dishes that others had enjoyed

They were not expecting us when we arrived even though we had booked, but were happy to accomodate us. Restaurant was closed during our stay and we were the only guests there. Didn't get to taste the homemade bread that other guest have enjoyed. No cereal for breakfast.

Really relaxed, flexible check in, with priority to guests in the restaurant. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating, so helpful and happy to chat and ask about our plans for the day. The food was incredible, such high quality with peace of mind too it's one of the safest and most delicious places to eat in the UK for celiacs. Don't miss the carvery, we left with full bellies and hearts. Thank you!
