After eight weeks travel , this pub must be ranked as the best we have stayed in . The welcome late on a bust Friday was warm and friendly . Our room was just superb with everything supplied that you only expect in more expensive properties . Although the restaurant area was booked , a table was found for us . A delicious meal …….fish pie and the best fish and chips cooked to perfection . Delicious ales and lagers , excellent choice of wine . Perfect . Comfortable bed , wi-fi , beautiful bathroom and everything you could want fitted into an ancient building . Breakfast was the full Yorkshire and perfect . We couldn’t have been happier . Everyone should visit the Wellington Heifer !

Spotless. Comfortable. Plenty of easy parking. Excellent beer!! (Hand-pulled Timothy Taylors was a perfect pint.) If you are a fan of "The Yorkshire Vet" this area is for you. Julian, Peter and all the team are only a few minutes down the road. Spectacular scenery is almost on the doorstep.

Give me an hour or two and I might think of something bad about the place... NOPE! can't think of anything. Only minor criticism is that the rooms are accessed via a narrow staircase that older or unsteady guests might find a bit tricky with luggage, but the staff are so good that even this would not be a major problem. I wouldn't put it past Rob (the host) to offer you a piggy-back!

I so rarely write reviews, but had to highly commend our fabulous first stay at the Heifer. Rob and his team are attentive and highly welcoming. Our bedroom was delightful, so clean . The bed is the most comfortable I've ever slept in, I really need to get a mattress like it! The food is homely and utterly delicious. I just wish I had been staying for longer - really didn't want to go home! Will definitely return on next trip to Yorkshire and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. Deserves 10 gold stars, it's honestly THAT good.

Nothing not to like!

From start to finish the stay was superb. Room was a good size, very clean with a lovely large walk in shower. Plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits! Staff so welcoming and friendly and courteous throughout. Evening meal really good as was breakfast. They even have a charging point for EV's! This is my go to place now for this area.

Nothing to dislike. Is on a busy road but it does quieten down at night.

The location was perfect for our needs. We arrived earlier than expected & called the hotel number & the manager was more than happy to come back & get us settled in our room. The room was modern, clean, light & comfortable. Plenty of sockets, comfortable beds & the skylight windows kept the room comfortable & the bathroom from fogging up. There was a shelf in the bathroom that held all our toiletries. The restaurant had delicious food. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a warm welcome on arrival from Johnny, who showed us to our room immediately. The room was very spacious and very clean. Decor was nice and neutral. Bathroom was lovely...Great shower and excellent lighting. The room had 2 windows both overlooking the road, but we couldn't hear any traffic noise at all. We had a lovely view of the church. The food in the restaurant was delicious...really good quality pub fare, and an absolutely yummy freshly cooked breakfast the next morning. Johnny did an exceptional job, managing both the bar & restaurant on his own...he was calm and courteous at all times, despite being super busy. A truly excellent employee!

As mentioned above, it was extremely busy (obviously the locals know its a great place to eat!) It would have been helpful at the time of booking if we had known we should book a table. Lucky for us, there was a no-show, so we managed to get this last table. Otherwise, we'd have to have got back in the car to find somewhere else to eat. Apart from that, everything was super and we would definitely recommend.

The exterior was beautiful adorned by well packed hanging baskets and window boxes. The access to any from our rooms were very good. The room itself was on the smaller side but was comfortable for the period that we were there. The staff were very pleasant and obliging. We had breakfast and that was presented and cooked to a good standard. We would stop here again.

My only gripe was that it is near to a man road which is used regularly. At night because of the weather, we slept with a small window open, and the traffic made it difficult to settle.

Attended a wedding at Sedgewell Barn, Hotel was right on the doorstep so location was spot on. Its also in perfect location for exploring further afield in Yorkshire. Host was very accommodating. Breakfast was excellent quality and well presented. Lovely bedroom with wonderful walk in shower, everything we wanted for our short break. Although I never sampled the evening menu from what I saw and smelt I really felt that I had missed out, will have to go back and small the menu.

Nothing, everything was perfect.

This is as comfortable as any hotel - great bed , bathroom , towels and breakfast. Being part of a really nice pub with good food is a great asset. Access to the A1M in 10 minutes.

We sleep with our windows open - traffic noise was intrusive at the church end of the building so it would be worth asking for a room at the car park end if you do too ! Double glazing is highly effective if you dont.

Our room was lovely but it was at the front of the property which was situated on a very busy road. The heavy traffic went on until early morning and restarted around 4.30am. which was not conducive to restful sleep. The owner and staff were very friendly and attentive The meals were delicious with a good choice and the service was very good. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone but don’t choose the room next overlooking the main road if you are a light sleeper.
