Captain's Choice Motel

The views from our room, the breakfast room, and the balcony were incredible! Our room was well appointed with a table and chairs, nightstands on both sides of the bed, a fridge with a freezer, a closet, and a full bathroom. The continental breakfast was about what you’d expect, but I did appreciate the hard boiled eggs. The staff were helpful and kind. The location is wonderful for walking around Haines and going out the road to explore.

The bed was a little soft and concave in the middle. The walls were a tad thin; we could hear someone talking on the phone in the room next to us the first afternoon we were there, but it wasn’t a problem after that.

A bit rustic but kept very clean. Bed was comfy. Microwave snd fridge handy for us travelers who were road tripping (which were most of us). Loved that the host opened continental breakfast early and it had hard boiled eggs, cheese, yoghurt, applesauce and more. Plus paper bags. Perfect for grab n go. We had hundreds of miles ahead of us and this was very thoughtful!! The local Mountain Market had great food items we picked up to eat in (those Indian Food Bites) and deli items.

Someone in next room took a looong bath and used up the hot water! Arghh. Ah well. Sponge bath time for us.

Easy to find. Convenient motel parking.

There was supposed to be a key for our room in a lockbox. It was not there when we arrived at 3:00 AM. Another couple had already called the manager. As it turned out we ended up with a more suitable room for our motorcycle parking. So All worked out in the end. The manager was very pleasant which really helped. Price is a little high for what you get.

Continental Breakfast, Room (#262) with private balcony, panoramic views, fridge and microwave, comfortable bed, spacious for luggage, bathroom with bathtub, location, extremely friendly owner (Greg)who had a lot of suggestions; initially gave us tour of the town; transfers to ferry worked out well.

One glass window you couldn't look through; table was quite wobbly.overall great experience though.

Teri the housekeeper, Kathi the registrar, Greg the driver were all absolutely super and treated us like family friends. Teri, especially, is the hardest working, most conscientious housekeeper I have ever encountered. The view from our was just incredible!

Overnight lights left on interfered with appreciation of dawn over the lake.

helpful and friendly staff. great continental breakfast with a beautiful view of the bay. coffee was excellent. we had to leave our cars and uhaul at the ferry terminal for 5 days and charter a plane to Juneau. they picked us up that first evening and drove us all out to our plane in the morning.

Expensive for 1 night, we had to rent 3 tiny rooms. we were stuck in town when ferry was canceled so we made the best of it.

Hospitality was wonderful! I was supposed to drive up to Fairbanks with my granddaughter, but the Canada Border Patrol said I was not an essential travel, we had to turn around and my GD dropped me off at the hotel and she made it safely to Fairbanks. I inform the hotel mgr. what happened they kept my belongings secured while I played tourist, which was wonderful! I walked across the way to see up close the Fort Seward facility and saw the Chilkat Clan house as well. Visited the Rapture house and museum. After that I came back to the hotel was able to stay in the lobby till my flight late that night. It was a pleasant stay and friendly people everywhere to help out if needed. The stay was good, the queen bed was comfy and the view was/is amazing from our room. Shower head was a great flow. they have a small fridge and coffee maker with tasty coffee!

The prices was spendy but it was summer and being a previous hotel clerk I concur.

Beautiful views on the deck. Great location. Quaint cute motel. Good breakfast. Room quite outdated. Garbage had food in it. I did really enjoy the deck and views and would stay there again!

Outdated room. Floor looked like it needed a vacuum and garbage had not been changed

room, clean, great view of the bay, super friendly staff. very informative if things to do in Haines. everything about this stay was stupendous. I enjoyed my two days here very much, had a wonderful time exploring Haines Alaska.

I did not find anything that I did not like about my stay.

Great location, comfortable room, good facilities and lovely staff. Continental breakfast was also delicious with lots of different options. Staff went the extra mile to ensure we made our ferry, Haines seems to be full of kind and helpful people like this!
