Crown Hotel

When rating what Google calls a 2 star hotel, one must look at value and expectations. If someone is expecting the Ritz, they are being unreasonable. It was clean, very functional and the bed was comfortable and had fresh linens. For the price it is a great value.

The ceiling had some stains, The front door was extremely difficult to open, and there were several aspects of repair that needed attention, but none was a deal-breaker.

The room was nice for the price. It had one of the biggest small refrigerators I've seen in a room, and it even had fairly large freezer! The bed was comfortable and so was the desk chair. I could park quite close to the room because there are plenty of spaces. Although it's a few minutes from the freeway, I think it was worthwhile because the room was probably nicer than one at the same price along the freeway.

The booking.com listing didn't say that the king room I reserved was a smoking room. Luckily the person who checked me in asked if I really wanted to smoke and was able to give me a non-smoking queen room.

Outdated rooms

We were driving home from Ciudad Juárez (Mexico) to Bakersfield, CA. After being on the road for most of the day, we stopped for dinner at Denny’s in El Centro, CA, and pretty much decided we needed to rest. So we stayed in this town until the following morning. This hotel was at a very convenient location, it was nice, clean, extremely affordable, the bathroom was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. I requested a room on the first floor to make it easier on my parents (who aren’t the youngest or most active), and the handsome young gentleman very politely accommodated us. We would definitely stay here again if we happen to make a stop in this town.

Overall I really liked this property. The only minor issues were that the metal lock on our door was broken, which is not a big deal since people can’t get in without a card key anyway, but it should probably be fixed anyway. Same with the blinds, they were a little messed up, and a piece was broken/missing. Again, this didn’t particularly bother me, but should probably be fixed so that no one can spy into the room from outside the window, lol.

I was looking for a affordable place to stay with my family and this motel had everything we needed and the price was right. If you are looking for a safe affordable place this was perfect. It is not a luxury place but we stayed for the comfort.

The rate. The easy walking distance to Burgers and Beer.

Not in the best area. Door top lock doesn't lock. Tape at bottom of door. Only 1 shower towel. No USB plug for watch or phone. TV a bit blurry when starting. Took a while to get out working.

The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The floors and certain areas were newly updated and everything looked and felt clean.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like. It’s in an old motel building, but it’s well taken care of.

if they served breakfast we did not know. it looked like ,it was newly decorated. very clean , great location. Management very friendly and accommodating. will stay there again on our next trip.

Perfect location to rest your head before having to cross the border at Mexicali. The front desk staff were friendly and the rooms are quite spacious. Lots of parking and it felt safe. Good location aswell plenty of food options around.

Not the hotels fault but there were extremely loud night time road works right outside the hotel which kept us awake all night through till the early hours of the morning. There was also a guest under us that was screaming and fighting and yelling. Not the hotels fault just unfortunate for us

The staff person was friendly, the beds were comfortable the room was clean. The room was well equipped with lighting microwave refrigerator and television. The air condition looks relatively new, and walks quietly.

In my room, upgrades and flooring have been done (Albeit by a do it yourself person or non professional because the workmanship was not very good). The bathroom has been partially redone with very poor craftsmanship, and really is in need of a total bathroom remodel.
