great food, good location (although don't walk alone once it's dark), cool vibe, friendly staff

maybe a briefing on the area, we are savvy travellers and had done our homework, so loved being in DTLA. However, if you didn't know about the area, the very visible homelessness would upset and possibly feel threatening.

- Good location in downtown LA; many restaurant options nearby, Whole Foods on the other side of the street - Rooms are very clean and spacious - Staff friendly (early check-in was possible without extra costs or waiting time) - View from the rooftop is excellent - Modern interior

- Isolation is not optimal - street noise is noticeable also on upper floors - Elevators without AC - Some sketchy/homeless people on the streets at night - Rooftop not exclusively for hotel guests

fast valet service available, cleanliness, café, shops and food places in walking distance, decent sized room and bed, stylish hotel, great pool and rooftop bar

very loud room, facing the road and it sounded like the windows were wide open, a lot of sirens and honking, also a night club at opposite that had noisy guests. location of the hotel not near any entertainment, there is not much to do other than going for food and drinks. not safe at night time, many homeless people and shady characters out and about.

The food in the hotel lobby was tasty.

The security guard ask me to leave the lobby after I had been sitting there for an hour. In explained that I was a guest and killing time before my flight. He was rude. I feel like he singled me out because I’m a Black woman. There were other people that had been sitting there as well for over an hour and he said nothing to them. I will most definitely be writing a letter of complaint when it get back home. He ruined my trip and my experience. I will never stay there again.

A little piece of luxury in DTLA. I stayed in a 4 bed female dorm, bed and pillow was SUPER comfortable, and I ended in in a wheelchair room so the bathroom was huge! The rooftop bar and pool is a bit special, and the view here at night is really pretty. Really helpful staff, and there is also a bar/restaurant downstairs at the entry area. Lots of good food outlets surrounding this hostel. A metro train to Santa Monica is a couple of blocks away. Easy transport from LAX (get Flyaway bus to Union Station - $10, you can pay for ticket on arrival there - then a $15 taxi to hostel).

The hostel is beautiful - possible a few years ahead of the area! DTLA is 'up-and-coming' - but in the early days yet. If you are nervous, DTLA may not be the area for you.

great location in the heart of downtown LA, spacious rooms and bedroom inside room which is more convenient than anything i've experienced at other hostels. receptionist upgraded me to a female-only shared room as opposed to what i booked for no extra charge. appreciated that!

soap and shampoo was not present in our room the night i got there, i had to ask for some next morning. blankets very thin and not super comfortable. i wish they had the usb-charging port as opposed to the traditional ports only. a guy came into our room in the middle of the night altho I was in a female-only room, he said the receptionist told him this was his room and gave him a key. he left after one of the occupants aggressively insisted he leave and straighten it up with the reception desk. no issues thereafter. the fire alarm kept going off on Tuesday morning scaring us but they then announced it was a false alarm.

Location was good for both family visiting and sightseeing. Impressed with the architectural design. Towels were great. I loved having a washcloth. Bedside reading lamps on both sides of the bed.

NOISE!!!! both outside on the street ( the Golden Gopher....) and our room was next to the elevator so people waiting for the elevator at all hours talking loudly. The only design element that was not so great was the closet in our room (room800), small, weird, and inconvenient.

I stayed one night only in a 8-beds-rooms, on the top bunker bed, the bed is more comfortable than I expected and the shared bathroom is clean, my room is on the 5th floor, with the window facing the inner light well, its not a good will but the ventalization is fine. The highlight is definitely the rooftop bar and pool which open to guest staying and visitor with an extra fee, I got to the bar after 2000 and the whole area is alive, the pool is illuminated with changing LED light and there are DJ booth on the back and a quite large bar table near the entrance

For a one night hostel, it pretty much meet and exceed all my expectation

Great room for one person, ample storage space and a mini fridge too. Loved the location being close to Wholefoods and CVS pharmacy. Also loved that I could open the windows for some fresh DTLA air. ;)

The street noise was a little loud (I was on the 13 Floor) – there's a nightclub or bar across the road with loud bouncers. The lights are super confusing – after 3 days or so of being there no idea how they worked and every time I turned them on I just hoped for the best. Nothing quite like having a shower when the light slowly dims to nothing. ;) The common spaces around the hotel seemed really dark, I was desperate to turn up the dimmer. Weirdly my room was lacking plants or the extra decor items like in the photos.

I had great roommates and met great people from all over the world and U.S. In the room I shared, the room is split into two sections. The first is where there's a small entry area immediately when you enter the door with 4 lockers and the bathroom (you can bring your own lock and only you and your roommates have access to this area and the bedroom area). Even sharing a bathroom was great as my roommates were respectable and clean, and I bought extra bleach for the shower floor to clean up after myself and bathroom spray for everyone to share from Whole Foods, which is about 1 block away. There's a doorway to the 2nd section of the room where there were 4 beds (i.e. 2 sets of bunkbeds) and a small armless love seat-type couch. I had one of the bottom bunks. The bunks were very sturdy, and each had a light for reading AND 2 outlets each--AMAZING!!! There were curtains and the end of the bed (where your feet go) to block out the sunlight from the huge window. In addition, each set of bunds had 2 hooks that allowed hanging space for each person occupying the bunks. I have never stayed in a hostel (nor have I ever had roommates), and I found this to be an extremely fun experience! Overall, I loved it! I would TOTALLY do it again!

There was nothing I didn't like. I just didn't stay long enough to experience the rooftop deck and restaurant (although I worked in the lobby 2 of the 4 days I was there).
