Like the old time feel, dinner meal was very good.

I have traveled extensively in my working years (now retired), and stayed at the best and sometimes not 4 or 5 star. I was shocked to find that if your guest arrives early or plans to arrive early, you charge to get into the room earlier than check-in time. NEVER have I experienced this. If this room was ready and I was early, they would allow me to check in. If not, no problem because I realize I was early. But to charge for a room that might be ready and not let the guest check in is just nickel and diming people, in my opinion.

The hotel was beautiful! The bottom floor room had a small porch area with rocking chairs, which was nice. The room had two rooms and a bathroom, a bedroom and living area. The furnishings were very pretty. The location was great! You could walk everywhere. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It's only 11 miles to St. George Island. The food at the hotel was nice. All the restaurants we ate at were great!

You could tell the renovations were new due to the strong smell. The rooms were a little smaller than I thought they would be. The pictures of the suite rooms seemed bigger, but we had plenty of room.

Location, clean

Noisy air conditioning, room refrigerator not working, no ice machine in the Bucc building, had to go to reception in another building with room ice bucket and ask an associate for ice..Arrived 2 hours early for check in, told our room was not ready, but we were told that they could get the room ready b4 check in time, for an additional fee of $50. We refused to pay this additional fee, and came back during their check in time. This was a first for us, a hotel charging a fee to expedite a check in.

The Inn has lots of charm. Our room was very nice...looked to have been recently updated...very well done. Would definitely stay here again. Just to note, there appeared to be on-street parking only, but we didn't have any trouble finding space close by. Did not see a dedicated parking lot. Walkable to downtown shops, restaurants, etc. They are currently expanding and will have a pool in the future.

Only minor things. .Though they do have cable, they do not provide local channels (so no CBS, NBC, etc. unless you stream) The lighting by the bed is not good for reading in bed. Also, they offer a ' Breakfast for Two' gift certificate for $40, which we bought, thinking it was a special breakfast deal. Nothing special...it's only just worth the $40 that you can apply to your breakfast tab...not sure if you don't spend $40 on your breakfast you get any money back. If you go over amount..you just pay the difference above the certificate. So not sure what the point would be to purchase ahead of time, unless someone else would purchase for you as a present. Just a heads-up!

The location of The Gibson Inn is right in the heart of Apalachicola. It has easy access to all the area restaurants and shopping. We rented a golf cart from The Gibson and we enjoyed a relaxing day of beautiful weather, shopping and sightseeing. We ate breakfast each morning in The Franklin Cafe' and we enjoyed cocktails on the wrap around porch in the evening where we met other guests and locals. We had a room on the second floor with veranda access right from our room so we could walk out and enjoy the view each morning when we woke up. We loved the charm of the Inn with all of the wood floors, bead board, ship lap and beautiful staircase. The bedrooms and bathrooms were updated with all the comforts and the beds were amazing. If we had any questions or concerns the staff was right there with a smile on their face and ready to help in anyway they could.

The only downside to staying in an older building is the noise level. It was very noisy in the early morning hours with house keeping and with early guest check outs. We upgraded to a soundproof room and they offered us a noise machine that really helped but it was still a little noisy. I think this is understandable and is to be expected in an older building. We would still definitely stay again!

Brunch and dinner were both very good. Live music during Sunday brunch was super, very atmospheric! Comfortable bar area, attentive staff. Good central location. We made use of the gratis bicycles to get around the town and see a bit more.

Our room, in the main building, was comfortable with all amenities but was a little on the small side. Outside dining on the porch was nice and food good but the dining room itself was a bit cafe like and basic. We chose not to eat in there.

The ambiance and feeling of being a part of history were beautiful, all this while having the luxury of modern comforts. Great spot in the heart of Apalach!

Sadly, the thing I love also makes it the one thing I don't. We were located on the east side of the building, and the road noise was very loud at night. I am bringing this up just for assistance in picking a room for those who are sensitive. I would definitely keep the room I had and just deal with road noise.

The Gibson is a charming old hotel that's been beautifully renovated. The original floors throughout give it so much character and juxtaposes nicely with the newer renovations such as the bathrooms. It was very clean, staff were wonderful, the bar and restaurant were really good, too! You did have to pay for a late checkout($25 per hour), but it was nice that you had the option. Will definitely stay again!

The room while small was charming. The TV never worked but the night manager did try to fix it. I thought the tablet in the room was a nice touch. I love these iconic older hotels and it was better than expected. À

Broken TV and parking was a little tight. The bar tender made us wait to pay for our drinks and we were traveling on motorcycles. My partner had no patience with the lack of attitude displayed at the bar. But the manager took really good care of us. In

Very very comfy bed. Very homy and comfortable. Many extras in the room. I slept great. Tried the soothing sound machine for the first time. They have thought of everything. Ate at the restaurant. Very good too. I had a great experience. I would go back again.

One window had slats that still let the light in. It would have been nice to block out the light totally.
