MainStay Suites Port Saint Joe

Location was OK. Nice sized room. Enjoyed the stove/fridge/microwave. Loved the palm trees and flowers, the Caribbean flavor of the building's decor and color. The pool and the outside grill area was really nice. I was really impressed with the staff.

The hotel should post a big sign warning people that - due to issues with satellites - Android telephone's clocks are actually ONE HOUR TOO SLOW here. They show Central time, NOT Eastern time. And Port St Joe is in Eastern time. I overslept because I did not realize the problem.

The hotel was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was great with healthy options. This property has an amazing staff. All staff members were extremely friendly, always smiling and helpful with guests needs. It’s a positive atmosphere due to the staff’s hospitality. They should all be commended for their warm hospitality because it’s hard to find these days.

Not much to complain about, the property is a little outdated but for the price it’s a great value.

What did I think of breakfast? Basically only choice of cereal and sausage biscuits with gravy the entire time I was there. Very tasty and good but that was the only choice. And, limited selection of side items like fruit, toast, bagel, yogurt, etc. I realize rooms have kitchens and some people prefer to eat in the room but a little variety on certain days would help. Like a menu for the week. What did I think of location? Location was convenient to roads, PSJ, and CSB. Not sure if there was a shuttle available that would take you to PSJ but might be nice to have if it wasn't offered (i didn't see it advertised but I may have missed it). No place to really go walk except out on main hwy which isn't too safe. Hotel is removed from anything in walking distance such as restaurants, main street, community activities, etc. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean and appliances and plumbing functioned properly. A/C - this was the only hotel I have stayed at that held 68 degrees and lower humidity. A fan would be a nice addition to air dry items. Furniture and some areas could use updating. Replacing some furniture as some pieces were thread bare. Paint touch up in many areas (nicks, scrapes, marks on walls, etc). I was pleased with the facility and staff. My comments aren't meant to be critical...but with a little more attention to detail you would separate yourself from your competitors.

A little more variety for breakfast. Somewhat larger room for the cost of the room. Facility that is in closer walking distance to city area or close enough for an open trolley style shuttle. Workout "room" very lacking. little larger, newer equipment that works, add dumbbells, add a fan, add an adjustable height bench. Pool is minimal. I know the hotel is dog friendly and my room did not smell of dog. So to speak. But if it had that would have been a major issue. Because there is a possibility that I might get a dog urine smelling room I would consider not staying here again. I feel I got lucky this time and to think I might get lucky again is pushing my luck. I was told that the staff tries to keep dogs on first floor.

The “suite” was extremely small and it isn’t cleaned everyday. You have to ask for towels. Even had to ask for garbage to be emptied. Bathrooms were not cleaned daily. The book in the room says the rooms are cleaned and the beds are made, but that never happened the whole stay. No one ever cleaned or even entered the rooms.

We were given a king suite which was spacious, quiet and had kitchenette complete with dishwasher. Nice quiet location right off highway, yet close to attractions.

Breakfast could use improvement. Choice of crock pot of lukewarm, gummy oatmeal or 3 sugary kiddie cereals. No eggs (even hard boiled), sausage, waffles, donuts/sweet rolls/muffins. Usually apples only.

Everything was good. Cleanliness exceptional. Bed very comfortable. But staff were the best. Outstanding. It was one of those trips where I constantly had requests and always the answer was: Yes, of course we can do that for you!” So refreshing! Also we left something behind in the room and the hotel called and we were able to retrieve the item. Truly exceptional customer service.

We enjoyed our stay in Port St Joe . Mainstay was up to date , quiet, clean and everyone was very nice . We enjoyed the continental breakfast, the afternoon cookies and other snacks available . Good location to other places like Mexico Beach, St George Island , the remaining locations on the Forgotten Coast.

Really the only thing was the sign into the place . You were right on it before you knew it .

The breakfast was fine. The staff was very friendly and cordial. The pool area and the outside smoking area were plusses for our group. Keep up the good work!!!!

If at all possible a drive around parking lot would be a big plus for individuals who are either towing a boat or a camper. If that isn't possible a separate pull though parking area with ample turn around area or dedicated exit would be wonderful for those with boats or campers.

Front desk staff were exceptional. Pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable. The most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on!

Lighting in the bathroom was very dim. No sheer curtains, so no privacy if you wanted natural light in the room. The sofa and chair upholstery need to be cleaned, but otherwise a clean, comfortable room.
