Hyatt Place Bloomington / Normal

Excellent pool, warm and soothing, great for all. Excellent location for food and fun. Ellie at the front desk was FABULOUS! She helped us with directions, good places to visit and an umbrella to borrow, when the weather turned particularly nasty one morning. She's a keeper! ☺️

The breakfast was just ok, not up to our expectations, both days. Maybe include cranberry juice, childproof cups, utensils. Parking was around the corner and across the street. Ok for most, but not for handicapped individuals. Some front desk staff were snotty; a young, long, braided hair, light skin African American girl, in particular. Not a good attitude for hospitality industry. We come road weary and bedraggled. We want to see SMILES, and help! More "Ellie's" on staff needed. Smiling, friendly and helpful!

Perfect location to the university and very convenient parking.

Our room 616 is in need of some repair and a deep clean. My bedding sheets were not soft and the bed seemed old. The bed my son slept in was stained and gross. If he had seen the way it look prior to going to sleep that night we may of had to change room. The couch looked dirty. We only stayed the night and didn’t have time or energy to switch rooms. We will be going to ISU for the next 4 years so I will try this place again because I prefer Hyatt over Marriott.

The hotel was very clean and the room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and fresh. There is a Starbucks attached to the hotel, which is convenient. Restaurants and bars are walking distance to the hotel. If you needed to take the train or bus, the hotel is across the street from the Amtrak/ Bus station.

I did not like the parking situation. When parking for the hotel, you are required to use the same parking garage as the train station/ bus station. We were given a card with a code to use when leaving the parking lot. I felt that this was inconvenient and would have preferred a different parking option.

the bill was taken on the second day of a six day stay. this made me think that I had been scammed. the GM didn’t contact me and I didn’t even receive the promised email receipt. very disappointing. the room service is on “covid rules “ and only visited once for the whole stay. the very noisy heating system constantly woke me up and was very loud!!

This was our 2nd stay at this Hyatt on our way back up to Chicago as its a couple of hours away. Good that you can pull up outside to check in before moving car to multi storey across the road which is paid for by the hotel. Beds were comfortable and clean and we will go back again on our next road trip. Great little map available at the hotel helped us locate good food and brewery just around the corner

The hotel is centrally located near the train station, shops, and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The decoration of the hotel is very pleasing. I recommend this hotel 100%.

The only thing that went wrong was that unless requested, there is no house keeping. I was not aware of this until the second day of my stay which was Thanksgiving day. Once I requested it, they told me they did not have the personnel. I ended up doing my own house keeping. I believe guests should be told at registration what the options are.

The corner king rooms are beautiful. The equivalency of two walls of the room are a curved half-circle with floor-to-celling windows across the entire wall, letting in a wonderful amount of natural light and providing nice views. The office area also sits separate from the main room, which was perfect since my girlfriend needed to work during the time we were in the hotel room. I would also add that we had initially booked a room in the Chateau for a wedding, but checked out immediately upon checking in and seeing the squalid state of that hotel. After that, the Hyatt was an incredible breath of fresh air (literally, considering the smells permeating the Chateau).

The complimentary breakfast left a bit to be desired. The options did not change even slightly from day-to-day and were not exactly expansive. Additionally, the qualify of food could certainly be improved. That said, the fact complimentary breakfast is provided at all is a huge plus.

Everything was great except I booked two rooms and had a name change at the last minute. There was a staff member who understood the change and said he would take care of it. When my friend tried to check in, the staff member was on break which made it difficult for the other staff member to know what was going on. There was no communication. My friend ended up having to wait untll the break was over to actual get checked into her room. I myself have concerns because I am not sure if the room was charged to me or my friend, or if there was a third room added in, which if that is the case I will be extremely upset. I will be checking my credit card bill, and hope that did not happen.

Everything is in the details! From the manner in which they great you when you arrive to the last detail. Joy, at the front desk, was attentive and very professional, voluntary offered a complementary coffee at the Starbucks that is attached to the lobby area just because the coffee at the hotel wasn't available due to the late hour. The hotel is conveniently located, near restaurants and walking distance from campus, quite, clean, comfortable great ambiance and great breakfast. Every member of the front desk was courteous. Parking is complementary. I have a son at the local university and I have stayed in another Hyatt in the next city, honestly this one is by far the best one. I'll definitely be returning here every time.

We had a wonderful stay this past weekend at the Hyatt near Illinois State University. A very clean and modern hotel with a very helpful staff. The breakfast was very good as well with great coffee!

Due to being in the city, the parking is in a nearby parking garage. The ticket system was a bit wonky but we figured it out eventually. Not a huge issue, but I would suggest a thorough explanation of the ticket in-and-out system for the garage parking.
