MICROTEL Inn and Suites - Ames

The room was very clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The hotel was very full, so we did hear a small amount of noise, but nothing bothersome. The sink area is pretty small outside the toilet and shower room, so if anyone was at the sink, they had to move for that door into the toilet and shower room to open. There was a large window seat. The breakfast was standard fare -- waffles, juice, pastries, cold hard-boiled eggs, breads, bananas, cereal, milk. Also coffee and tea, which was English Breakfast tea, a nice touch. The staff was friendly. The only thing we didn't like was that the air conditioner cycled off and on, but it was quieter than some others.

Everything went well. We stayed on the first floor and could hear when people upstairs when they moved. I think the floor and ceiling are not that thick. Other than that, all is well. This will be our back-up place to stay from now on.

Nothing much stood out. The facility is clean and well-kept. Apparently, the owners care very much about their business. We would love bigger selections for breakfast, though.

The staff and facilities were perfect. Friendly and efficient from check in to check out. Very clean surroundings and staff very on top of breakfast area cleaning and food replenishment.

The only problem we had was a horrible upstairs guest stomping around at all hours and then starting all over again with large banging and shower running at 4am. The barking from their dog did not help either.

Location was convenient. Facility was clean, and had good options for breakfast. Room and Beds were comfortable.

Handicap access at end of building was not convenient for someone using a walker. Adding a handicap ramp close to the door should be considered.

great value. Good, basic hotel room. Good tv, refrigerator and microwave. Comfortable beds. decent continental breakfast and coffee in lobby. wiFi efficient enough for remote work.

No coffee option in the rooms. I don’t like the big glass on one side of the room. (FEELS like a 2 way mirror).

I liked the very clean room, quiet place, comfortable beds, nice and accommodating hotel personnel, fast check-in, and check-out. Breakfast is acceptable: hot and cold drinks, bagles and cream cheese, toasted bread, hard-boiled eggs, waffles, muffins, cereal, etc.

Breakfast would be much better with scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon.

The location and the price. Breakfast was included and not bad.

Our room was always damp. The bed sheets always felt wet. The floor was sticky. There was mold on the bathroom floor, the sink faucet would not completely turn off, and only a couple outlets worked.

I needed and received an accessible room. I liked that. Unlike a stay 10 days earlier at a Red Roof Inn the bathroom fully met the definition of “accessible” to ADA standards.

Only issue that needs attention would be in the bathroom. The adjustable shower head fixture had a serious Leak at the connection to the wall. It would spray out onto the bathroom floor. Also the handheld shower head was not able to set to a lower position suitable to a seated person because that part of the fixture adjust was broken. Get that fixed and this review becomes a complete plus + positive in my opinion.

The room was nice! There was a great little nook in front of the window that was made for sitting, and my daughter really liked that. The beds were comfortable, and we slept well. The TV was a little small, but we didn't stay to watch TV, so that didn't bother us at all. There was a desk which was handy, and I also liked having the sink outside of the bathroom.

The microwave was set on top of the fridge, and it just looked to be a precarious set-up. We didn't need to use the microwave, however, and we had no issues with the fridge. The bathroom (bath and toilet) was small, and that made for cramped changing of clothes. Note that we had a room, not a suite.

The room was clean and comfortanble. Breakfast was very good. I like the waffles.

TV remote wouldn't shut off television. Very complicated. The staff did bring a new remote. I had to unplug the television to turn it off.
