Murray Inn and Art Gallery

The grounds were beautiful and well-kept. The woman who was owner was an oil paint Artist whose works and those of other local artists were on display in the lobby and breakfast room and were for sale. I enjoyed talking with her and enjoying her sweet positive demeanor. The beds were very comfortable and there were four pillows, two of which were king size and served as body pillows. The rooms were extremely clean. If you like more of a suite-type room as in hotel chains, just want to let you know this is not like that. It had a small table and two table chairs and you had to lie in bed and look off to the right to see the TV, but we were not there to watch TV. The Continental breakfast Was excellent and included good fresh fruit, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, breads muffins and brioche, oats and cereal, juices, teas,and coffee. The value was excellent, with it being just over half what the cost would have been at the Hampton Inn. If old vintage style motels are not your thing, then you would be happier in a chain hotel. We liked it here.

The only negative to me was the wall air conditioner that was extremely loud. It was set in the wall high enough that the air did not blow directly on you in bed, so that was good. The functioning of the air conditioner kept it cool but it seemed damp.

The lady - I believe she was the owner and also the artist - was very friendly checking in. Also, the man checking out was extremely nice. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable.

The inn was advertised as an art gallery - there was none in our room. 3 frames where it should be, but all were empty. This made the room very bland. Although the bed was comfortable - I would have preferred the option of using a light blanket - the heavy comforter was too hot.

Booking.com's involvement. I was staying at the Inn while doing disaster relief work following the tornadoes in SE Kentucky. I had planned to stay for 7 nights, but I developed COVID and had to return home after only 3 nights. The Inn very generously offered to charge me only for the nights I stayed; however, after an online chat with a barely intelligible customer service rep, who failed to resolve the issue, it appears that Booking.com has charged me a penalty of 1 night, even though the owners wanted to charge me for only the 3 nights I'd been there. I won't be using Booking.com anymore.

Though an older facility, it was exceptionally clean and neat! Charming with the soft comforter, warm welcoming outside lighting, and gazebo! The staff was also very welcoming. Breakfast had everything you could want. And we loved the roosters! We came for a football game and our mascot is the Gamecock so the roosters were a treat!

Nothing really but having separate smaller tables for breakfast in the back room would work better for me. Instead of the one big one..

Know what to expect when booking a place like Murray Inn and Art Gallery. The hosts were super friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean, and everything you need is there. Things are a little outdated, and could use a couple updates, but it’s not having those that makes the stay good and cheap instead of one or the other.

A couple updates on bedding or color, checking to see if the shower head works properly would have made the stay top tier.

Great place to stay for the price. My wife and I don't need fancy places to stay. We look for location and cleanliness. It was very nice to stay at a place that was locally owned and operated. Paul and his wife were very nice and accommodating. Don't rent a room if you are expecting a Hampton Inn, $200 kind of room. The rooms are small in comparison. There is no phone. The shower is a standup shower, no tub. I'm not saying these things as criticism, but so that those who are thinking of staying here will understand what they are getting so they won't criticize if it doesn't meet their expectations. It met ours and we would gladly stay here again.

I can't think of anything we didn't like. We ate our meals at local restaurants which Paul recommended and had some great meals. If you want something more, then go to a nationally owned hotel and pay $150+. If you want a friendly, locally owned, comfortable place to stay and don't need a lot of fluff (phone, tub, fancy breakfast bar, etc) then I don't think you will be disappointed.

My fiancee and myself found this place 2 yrs ago visiting my brother. The owners are really awesome people rooms are clean and the gazebos out front are awesome to sit out at nite time and enjoy the nice weather.. love this little place would highly recommend if your in the area you won't be disappointed.

The Murray Inn & Art Gallery is a wonderful place to stay. It was a lovely Inn. The 3 gazebos are a great place to sit and relax. The breakfast selections were great. The room was very clean. The owners were wonderful. I will be happy to stay there again.

We arrived in a terrible ice storm, pregnant, in the early morning hours. This place is so cool! Helilan (I may have spelled that wrong) is extremely sweet and very accommodating. Super cozy room, fresh breakfast, and some amazing paintings! We would have bought one as a keepsake had we budgeted for it. If we're ever up this way again, this is definitely where we'll stay!

I really liked our visit. Cute place, staff very friendly. the only complaint I have is that the room was very muggy. I put the air on 68 degrees. But it was just really muggy in the room. it made it very uncomfortable for me.
