Finlen Hotel and Motor Inn

I liked the location. I like the beautiful main hotel building and it's high ceilings and historic design. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional.

I was not aware, when I booked, that I would be staying in the annex/Motel next to the main hotel. I wanted to be in the main hotel. I would have preferred to know before my arrival. Also, the outdoor lighting for the motel area was off. It was black as I was walking across the parking lot and up the stairwell. They, evidently, had not security staff to manage the drunk guests coming in at 2:00 am with the excessive shouting and foul language.

Lovely, well-maintained, historical building. Queen deluxe (2 beds) room was huge and unexpectedly had two bathrooms (only one with shower).

The bar was "temporarily" (perhaps indefinitely) closed. Despite its elegance, it felt a little desolate. That has more to do with the city than the hotel. It has so much beauty and potential. The room did not have central air. It had a portable AC unit and ceiling fans.

The woman who checked us in was extremely kind and helpful. She had suggestions for places to eat and chatted with us about the area. She gave me a toothbrush when I mentioned I was looking for a convenience store to buy one. We stayed in the motor inn part of the hotel. It was a little dated, but the room was clean and we had all the amenities that we required.

The doors to the rooms seem a little flimsy, but we had no issues during our stay and we didn't have any issues with loud neighbors.

I loved the history of the hotel and how the integrity of the original decor seems to still be a large part of the Finlen. Staff were so amazing and helpful throughout our stay. I also love how central of a location it is in Butte that we could walk to any of the restaurants and the farmers' market on Saturday was just down the street. The lounge at night in the lobby area was also a great place for a drink. So much fun! I would definitely stay there again on my next trip to Butte.

I can't stay there was anything I didn't particularly like about the Finlen. Because it's historic, some amenities are a little different like the A/C units. I was confused about "The Spa" at the Finlen, as it turned out not to be a spa but run by a permanent makeup artist for eyebrows, and I couldn't figure out how to get in touch with them about their services. The bathrooms are also a bit small in the rooms, but overall I loved being at the Finlen.

It is a beautiful old hotel from when there was money in the town. So glad it was preserved. Free car park, no hassle, great off site breakfasts to be had walking distance. The attached bar was interesting and full of characters. Rooms aew small, but that is ok, Good hot water.

We got put in a back room because of a booking error. Would have liked a view. Not sure how many rooms were operating. Disappointed about that but otherwise nice place

Old glory hotel straight out of a Wes Anderson movie. Fantastic aesthetic. The historic old town of Butte is a real trip: architecture from a bygone era, some abandoned and some reanimated. Room was clean, staff was nice, no complaints. Would wholeheartedly recommend checking out Butte and its history. Would stay in Finlen hotel again (the hotel, not the motel). Don't miss the impressive Granite Mountain Speculator Mine Memorial.

A bit pricey

Beautiful old hotel well maintained with old charm and modern touches. Loved my room actually. Small, but great bathroom, no complaints with the room.

Surprised an old hotel this large did not have a restaurant, really surprised! They had a big lounge, but that was it. They made a good recommendation for dinner about a block away, but even breakfast was an off site option only.

The location was absolutely fantastic, easy to find and a really cool view. Parking was easy to get to, and the building itself was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were incredible and went out of their way to welcome me and take care of me, especially after a long trip.

Parking was a little full, and I grabbed the last parking spot. I was also a little disappointed that the ice maker and 1/2 the vending machines on the 2nd floor were out of order when I visited.

We thought we were booking a room in the historic hotel but when we arrived our room was in the motor inn. We were disappointed. However, minus the wall sconce placed directly above our bed, that we kept bumping our head/eyes into (extreme liability issue for you), we were very satisfied with the comfort and cleanliness of our room in the motor inn. The parking lot didn’t have enough space for us to park in it.

The Expedia website did not make it clear we were booking a room in the motor inn rather than the historic hotel. The over-the/bed wall sconce is very hazardous. Someone will eventually get hurt and sue the establishment; it would be regretful if that happens because it is such a lovely historic site, while the fix for the problem is minimal effort and cost.

FYI breakfast is not included but at the room rate and quality of the facility one should not expect a free breakfast. Coffee is available in the lobby, The location is in old town and close to great restaurants. The staff are courteous and double as the concierge though not officially just really helpful with local knowledge. We stayed in the retro motor inn adjacent to and part of the old hotel because it was advertised as having air conditioners while the old facility did not say. We should have called as they are both air conditioned but the rooms were booked up. Regardless, the retro was great!!

Our room was ground floor next to the laundry room. something in there was running intermittently till late and then again starting at around 6:30 AM. Not a big deal since we needed to hit the road early and the noise wasn't really enough to keep us awake...just a heads up. Otherwise it was dead quiet and very comfortable.
