The hotel is made up of two 1840 townhouses in the unspoiled and upmarket West Village. It is a short walk to the Hudson River which has a very long and beautifully landscaped riverside walk/jogging/bicycle and dog walkers broad pathway and reconceived piers for sunning and looking at the broad and beautiful river. It is also a short walk to the Whitney Museum of American Art which itself has great views from its terraces; a fine cafe and an outstanding collection of American Art. The hotel is charming. The rooms are furniture in an eclectic style; many have working fireplaces. It is not not have a front desk as such although Vincent who manages the hotel is outstandingly gracious and helpful.
It will benefit from a bit more attention to detail as a result of understandable Covid neglect. But charm and cozness count for a lot.. And now that we are all on the road again more attention will be given to small details-and the potentially lovely garden.

The location was fantastic, the bus stop was right outside and subway close by. There were many shops for groceries and a wide range of produce. I had the Bishop Suite which was plenty big enough for me as a solo traveller. I had a guest one night who used the sofa bed which apparently was extremely uncomfortable and had seen better days. The apartment was very nice and homely, I felt very relaxed and safe there. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was clean enough, with adequate space for my belongings. I would definitely return, it's a great find.
Some of the furnishings were not in good repair, curtains hanging down. The sofa was fine but as a sofa bed it was uncomfortable. I prefer a hob for cooking, but there was only a microwave. Cleaning wasn't carried out fully every day.

My room was incredibly spacious, especially for the price. I stayed in the "Bishop" suite, which has an interesting split-level design. I had a large, attractively furnished sitting room with a fireplace, down a short set of stairs there was a kitchenette (including fridge, coffee maker, a few glasses, plates, silverware) and a small bathroom, up a set of stairs there was a sleeping loft that was just large enough for a bed and TV set. They could charge a fortunte for this much space in a great Greenwich Village location, but for some reason the room was priced below market rate.
My only complaint was that I couldn't figure out how to operate the blinds on the window of the bedroom loft.

I have stayed here many times in the past 15 years. I love the location in the West Village. Manager Vincent is a gem. He is so friendly, helpful, and caring, and he remembers little things I’ve shared with him over the years. The beds are very comfortable.
The property isn’t quite as well maintained as it was with the previous owner. I usually stay in India on the second floor. I missed the little niceties like a soap dish in the bathroom and dish drainer and wine glasses in the kitchenette. One of the blinds was missing from the big front windows. The room was rather dark, but Vincent kindly gave me an extra lamp. The furniture was rearranged since my last stay. I understand why, but I have to say I liked the old layout better. Next time I’ll likely stay in Maine or Dakota, one floor up and a little larger. All in all, though, a nice place to stay.

Fantastic location , the room in this Victorian brownstone had an open fire, we were amazed for reception to confirm that we could have a real fire in our room as long as we purchased an eco friendly ‘log’ from the local convenience shop around the corner. we stayed five nights and had fires on 3 nights, lovely and romantic looking out over the street it was magical! the position is amazing, 50 yards away from one of our favourite bars ‘the corner bistro’ we had a great evening having messy burgers at the bar, watching baseball on TV while one of the locals was celebrating his birthday, he sent us a slice of his birthday cake which was just so nice. I can’t emphasise enough what a great position this hotel is in with its proximity to ‘The Whitney’, Chelsea market, Bleeker st, The Highline, the area is low rise and very walkable and we spent hours wandering up and down Bleeker street visiting restaurants and small clubs ( The Bitter End oldest music venue in ‘the village’ amazingly reasonable ticket and drink prices) I could go in and on, we would definitely stay at this hotel again, it is a bit eclectic and maybe not for everyone, steep stairs, it was the end of the season and the room could have done with a refresh but all in all a very reasonably priced hotel with unusual features, really nice staff who were very helpful and accommodating. we have stayed at many high end hotels in many countries but our experience here was one we will remember for a very long time, it was special, romantic, unusual and amazingly well positioned. a shout out to the barman at the tavern across the street who, amazingly for New York, bought my wife and I a round of drinks as we had had four rounds already and only popped in for one. Thanks to everyone it was well special!
Guests need to be aware that this an historic property and eclectic in its decor and interior spaces choose your room well - ours ( The Tabor suite) had an open fire which is highly unusual for New York and highly recommended, steep steps up to the room which may not suit everyone.

The Incentra Village Hotel is close to transportation, restaurants, museums, parks, and shops. Our suite had a small kitchen so we could make tea, coffee and heat take-out food. We had a front-facing room and it was quiet. On the first night the weather was very cold and the staff provided a space heater to help warm the room. Staff tidied the room and refreshed the linens daily. Incentra Village Hotel is a good option if you like a place with some character and want more space than a typical hotel room.
The stairs to the room were steep. The staff carried our luggage for us when we checked in and that was very helpful. The promotional material is clear that the hotel is in an old building and not ADA compliant, but we were surprised by the steep steps leading to out “first floor” room. This wasn’t a problem for us, but it might be for others. The light over the entrance door was out for the week we were there. We used our phone flashlight to make it easier to unlock the door, but without a light, this would have been a problem.

An amazing find in the heart of a great neighborhood outside the hustle and bustle of Midtown and the Theater District. nice building, cute rooms, a great neighborhood, and most of all the incredible and accommodating staff who go out of the way for you! Vincent took great care of us and he and the rest of the staff made us feel right at home.
No elevator. but that’s the NYC brownstone, it’s part of the charm.
