We wanted a stay where we had space to relax and slow down. The farm lodge was perfect. The kids enjoyed the animals and all the space to run around. We liked that the rooms had things needed at a hotel but felt like we were in a cabin. The pool and play area were fun for the kids too. The parking was so convenient too! We drove into the national park, but next time we will use one of the guides at the property to hike straight into the park.

The internet was a little spotty. Not a huge problem, but it did make getting driving directions in an unfamiliar place a little hairy.

Food at the lodge was great. Nice peaceful location, pretty scenery. House was roomy and kitchen very well stocked with pots, pans, etc. Hiked some and enjoyed that, then it poured rain until we left but still had a good family time playing games and snacking. The little store was close to our farmhouse and was very nice.

Thought dinner buffet was a bit pricy. The only thing I was actually disappointed in was on the website, it sounded like visiting the animals would be pretty neat. I thought from the description, it would just be set up a little better. No horses were out and about, found the longhorns by accident on a walk farther down the road, guineas all in a kind of small cage. The pigs in the mud were impressive but one had a very large tumor on its behind

We had breakfast at the grocery market on campus and it was really good. The views were spectacular, especially after it stopped raining. We hope to come back with more of our family sometime. But it was a great getaway for my husband and me. Everyone we met was friendly.

My husband has had knee replacement surgery on both knees and the bathroom toilet and tub were so low down he had trouble--because of his own stiffness--in getting up and down. We would prefer a more handicap-accessible room, but had to bring our dog.

I love the property and the people who work there are friendly and kind! It's an amazing place in an amazing location with lots to do close by. We will be back!

We weren't impressed with our room, it was facing a hill with no view unlike the rooms on the opposite side of ours. I think I'm more annoyed with booking.com because when we booked this room we didn't realize how small it was and that we were choosing a room without a view. The listing was deceiving.

The staff was incredibly helpful during our stay. The room was as described and clean. We were pleasantly surprised to find out about the activities they had on site. They had a fire going in several locations, places to sit, and even marshmallows to roast. Before getting back on the road, we walked down by the water and checked out the chicken coop they have on site. We did not have the chance to check out the farm nearby, but will try to next time.

Really like that it's a family business instead of a major hotel chain. Didn't get there until around 8:30 at night because of the holiday traffic(4thofJuly)81 coming from Gatlinburg, Tennessee and wanted something different than the Holiday Inn and really glad I did. Very reasonable prices and breakfast was only $14 and included pancakes, scrambled eggs, over easy also, fruit, oatmeal, muffins, ham, toast and juice and coffee. Than there's the sisters who run breakfast, they're part of the reason we're planning on going back, we didn't get time to explore but will the next stay. Location, people and prices are worth taking a visit. We are!!

It's a on a steep hill and bathroom is a bit small and no cell service until you sign in to their network and spotty (if any signal) in the surrounding area. But I'm sure that's part of the charm and they have cable that's has more channels than the big chain hotels. The only other thing I would mention is that since we arrived so late there was no food options but we had a lot of snacks to eat until the incredible breakfast.

This place was so delightful! I went in the off season and I wonder if that's why it was so inexpensive, but it's such a fun property. The rooms are great. If you've seen Dirty Dancing, it's a similar vibe to the location for that film. The area is gorgeous, but note it is at least a 30 minute drive to Shenandoah National Park if you're trying to visit that at all. I worked remotely for a few days and never had an issue with the wifi

The walls are definitely thinner than you'd expect or want. It was manageable, but I could hear the cleaning staff very loudly to the point I could make out their conversations. Or I could hear my neighbor's TV. Not ideal.

The room was very quiet and remote, only one other couple was in the entire building that I was directed to back in the woods. Breakfast the next morning was remarkable and I could not brag enough about it! The view was glorious and the setting of the Lodge is quite remote and lovely.

The dinner was very expensive and buffet style. I could not chew the brisket that was the other option from country ham or ham, and vegetarian lasagna. It was Easter Sunday evening and I did arrive later in the day from traveling, but I would not do a dinner here again due to cost and disappointing first meal.

When can we come back?! One night is not enough to enjoy this incredible place! We were two French guys on a road trip through Virginia and we found here the best landscapes, the best local food and the best people. It was an incredible experience and we couldn't get tired of watching this beautiful view of the mountains on the rocking chairs. Dinner and Breakfast were delicious!

What's to improve? Everything was perfect . It's not a 4 stars Hotel but it's clean, cosy and very authentic.

The location is perfect for trail hikes in Shenandoah park. The restaurant offers breakfast lunch and dinner for reasonable prices (dinner $20 to 28 for starter, main, dessert) Kids 6 to 14 half price and below 5 eat for free. The menu has some daily changes. Happy to see some veggies on the sides menu too! Their pies are really awesome. Another option is the deli just next to the lodge. Breakfast sandwiches start at 3.50, subs at 7$. We joined their foc feeding the animals/petting tour. The kids got to give milk to the calf, pet huge pigs, feed the goats, hold a little chick. They were so exited about this. You can also book a horse trail ride which we did for 2 hours. Michelle did an amazing job, must do experience while you are there! Room size is good, loved the rocking chairs in front of the room in the patio. Bed is nice and firm. Fridge and microwave for daily use.

Us tall people struggle a little bit in the shower. It is a bit cramped. The room is a bit dark and gives you a cottage feel, yet you do turn on lights all day long. Did not feel very environmentally friendly.
