We have an annual get-together with some of my high school friends every year and we meet in Wausau because it's a central location. We used to stay at a different place, but that hotel is now closed, so we gave the Rib Mountain Inn a try. It's delightful. The inn primarily serves skiers at Granite Peak during the season, but it's a nice spot tucked into a high-end residential neighborhood; it's cozy, less than 20 rooms, and you do have some stairs to navigate, but they're quite upfront about that, so we were not concerned. We had two rooms and they were both comfortable; one of the rooms had a kitchenette and a nice table that made it possible to sit down and have snacks and beverages right in the room. It's exceptionally quiet; no traffic noise or other distractions. They had a simple but adequate breakfast selection and all the coffee we wanted. We even worked in a game of cribbage while we ate. We'll definitely be back!

Everything was good.

Location was great. Its sort of off the highway and the place is so comfortable and homey. Most staff were super nice and helped with extra towels when needed. Breakfast was good, they have breakfast sandwiches and an oatmeal bar along with bagels and waffles. Coffee, cappuccino and hot chocolate until 10pm is awesome! We will definitely stay here again but will pay the extra for the fireplace/couch and bar area room. We saw them when we were leaving and they look so nice and even more spacious! It's great that every room has a balcony area to sit outside. They do have a sauna and washer and dryer available.

Wish I would have known the hot tub was having maintenance though as that wasn't posted on the website and it was out of order all 4 days we were there.

Love that the rooms had wood flooring and not carpet. The balcony was great to be able to sit outside. I had two queen beds and they were comfortable. Tastefully done rooms with the decorations. The commons/breakfast area was fabulous!!! The choices were amazing. Hot food, cereal, instant oatmeal, bagel/muffin area. The coffee bar was amazing! They had a machine for cappuccinos and hot cocoa with ALL the fixings, and two types of coffee one regular and one was flavored. This was so comforting to see the quality of food and varieties! The staff were friendly and very helpful!!

Well the lights were on in the room when we got there. We were flipping a couple switches to see what turns on what and the lights above the beds (4 total) never came back on. The floor lamp was dull at best. The hot water was warm at best when I went to wash my hands. We did let the front desk know about the lights and they were doing to have maintenance come up and fix it but we told them it was fine as we used the floor lamp and the desk lamp along with the TV for light. I am positive that will be taken care of before someone else stays.

Very nice accommodations. I loved the "lodge" like feel to this. So cozy! Everything was perfect! Beds were comfortable. Rooms were large and spacious. Staff was super accommodating and helpful. We were in Wausau for a soccer tournamentand I needed to wash my daughters uniform. The girl at the counter (wish I remembered her name) was so helpful. She let me use the washer and dryer so my daughter had a clean uniform for the following days games (they have white ones 🙄). She was helpful in getting us extra linens for the pull out bed too (which is something they don't typically do). So nice!! The free continental breakfast was awesome too! We had an early game so it was great the kids were able to get something healthy to eat! We really enjoyed our stay here and will return here for all tournament weekends. Thank you for making us feel like we were at a home away from home.

No complaints

I loved the full kitchen and assessories. Everything seemed cleaned. The entry way and hallway carpet is a little aged or needs cleaning, but entering the room, everything was good. The breakfast wasn't bad. They had some fresh fruit, waffles, breakfast sandwiches that you stick in the microwave, and toastable items. Also hot and cold cereals and hard boiled eggs. The staff was very accommodating.

We were on the first floor with only a slider for outside light. Things seemed a little dark without extra windows. For safety reasons, I didn't want to keep the slider door open at night. There is air which helped. It is an older building, but, overall the room was good. I would definitely book again when in the area.

The bed was gloriously comfortable. The lobby was inviting, with comfy couches and chairs. The location is lovely. The value was excellent.

I didn’t feel “invited” to a cup of tea, though there was a nice selection and I did help myself to a paper cup. I look for ways that an inn is “Invitational” such as cookies, nice mugs for tea, little arrangements of flowers, etc. These were not evident, leaving much potential, unmet. Similarly, the small patio off of our room was perfect for sitting, except the chairs were quite minimal and I noticed others’ patio chairs seemed even worse.

the studio with garden view we stayed at is kinda dingy as our neighbor put it who has been staying there for last 25 yrs and was staying yet another month. I do thank, Mitch , the owner for the new flooring and new roof now it’s time to replace cabinets and furniture. Could use table in outside porch area. Housekeeping must step it up a bit also as I had to clean jacuzzi tub myself before able to use it. And, new GM should make sure grounds are kept up including ALL weeds should be pulled and he should make sure his contractors clean up after themselves including roofing nails (porch and front) and shingles etc

I hadn’t been here in three years, but was amazed to see complete makeovers in our room: new beds, new shower and bathroom, new plank flooring, updated electronics and power center, and a great air conditioner! On top of that the check in woman and the check out man were so pleasant! (we checked in early afternoon - to drive to Green Bay and then return at app. 2:00 am). This is a hidden and precious gem among giants - not a chain hotel…. beautifully settled into the woods near the base of Rib Mountain. My friends were mightily impressed - one having recently stayed at a Marriott in Chicago where room temperature control was a disaster… We’ll be back - and to do some more golf right next door!

The breakfast was really good, a lot of options. The staff was extremely friendly. It was out of the way of the normal hustle and bustle so it was really quiet and serene. There was a cute balcony to sit out on. Overall, it was really nice.

I don't have a lot that I did not like. The only thing worth mentioning was the remote for the TV did not work well, it lagged a lot. At the start I could only switch it one station for every 5 minutes, however it started working after a bit. I never mentioned it to the staff, I am sure they would have been happy to help otherwise! SO, that's not entirely their fault.

The breakfast was more than we expected. We had to do a late check-in (9:00 pm) and they made sure we were well taken care of. We asked for a room on the 1st floor room and they provided a nice clean one for us.

Everything was done up to our expectations. There is one item we would like you to know about. It wasn't concerning us but while we were eating breakfast one of the other staff besides the gal at registration was talking to her. She was complaining about some thing that had affected her while she was doing her job (housekeeping?) But there was a lot of negative comments spoken very loudly so anyone in the breakfast area/lobby could hear what she was saying. Please do not include this information in the review but provide it to the management at Rib Mountain.
