The Reef Retreat Palm Cove

Quiet property close to beach and main strip. Room was a good size and outdoor kitchenette and dining setting was a pleasant alternative in a tropical setting. Pool area was shady and quiet with adequate deck chairs provided. Staff very helpful. Will be on my list for next visit.

Room was due a deep clean as dust was evident on sills and floor corners. Room was close to street boundary so a little noisy at times but bearable. Access stairs to room were a little tricky when wet.

The location was great, just off the main street. Doesn't have the ocean views but a 10metre walk to the beach and within a few mins walk of all the bars and restaurants. A handy kitchen available to use. Bed comfortable enough, the room was nice and clean, with great aircon. After hours check-in was easy to do.

Two flights of stairs to get to the room. I am not a fan of only shutters on sliding doors between the ensuite and bedroom for privacy when using the loo! Internet seemed a bit slow, ended up using mobile data instead. Would be great to have the ability to sign into Netflix or similar on the tv, but no option. Regular TV only.

Fabulous location in a quiet area just a few minutes walk to the beach, shops and restaurants. The living room/ kitchen was spacious with a lovely balcony. Large comfy bed and a good size shower. All rooms clean andl beautifully decorated. There is a large outside decked dining area in the shade with a good size pool and spa pool The owners/managers were really helpful and I would recommend staying here if visiting Palm Cove. A bit like living in the rainforest in the town.

The only downside was the pool area which was quite shaded as the day progressed due to the tall trees.

The privacy and peacefulness was just what we were looking for. It felt like we were in the middle of the rain forest but we were just steps away from the main strip in Palm Cove.

This part is difficult because it doesn't warrant a complaint just an observation. Wifi was poor. My pet peeve not only with this resort but all the resorts that we stayed in on our trip to Queensland was the coffee in the rooms. Some of the best coffees are in these areas but the rooms are stocked with Nescafe instant! If this is the best that can be provided,remove the coffee from the rooms.

We arrived early into Cairns and the Reef Retreat were kind enough to not only accommodate us with 1 room on the ground floor due to an injured knee, but they had one of our rooms ready at 9.30am so we could check in, and freshen up prior to attending a 50th birthday lunch. The rooms were neat and clean, check in easy, the drinks at reception were very reasonably priced and the facilities were great. Our room had the kitchen on the balcony which was fantastic - it meant my husband didn't wake me each morning getting his coffee!

The beds were a little hard and the doors separating the bathroom from bedroom in our room, were only "shutter" like so unfortunately, you would be awakened at night by the light if someone went to the toilet ... and you could hear everything!

Spacious bedrooms and good sized two bedroom apartment. Comfortable beds and big bathrooms. Both bedrooms had ensuites, one with a spa. Apartment is close to main part of Palm Cove - restaurants, cafes etc. We were able to park our hire car at the back which was great.

Pool environment is a little drab although the garden is lovely. The one day we decided to sit beside the pool, there was leaf blowing and gardening happening and we were asked to move from our deck chairs at one stage. It is not a big pool like some other resorts so if you are looking for a mainly poolside holiday this might not be for you. Wifi doesn't work - at least it didn't in our apartment. We gave up trying.

It is a peaceful place. The gardens really make it feel tropical and relaxing. The pool and deck are shaded beautifully by the trees and gardens. I loved how our room opened out to the garden.

If I had to say something it would be that the pathways are a bit uneven and potential trip hazards. That’s all really.

We enjoyed the quiet, cool & tropical resort that was so close to restaurants, cafes & the beach. The apartment was clean, roomy & private with a good sized outdoor verandah for enjoying drinks & meals in the fresh air. The bed was very comfortable & kitchen well equipped. The outdoor large, communal deck was a great area to relax & enjoy drinks or barbecues with friends & family. It was also good to have a pool.

The pool & spa were very useful but a bit outdated. The outdoor deck area & upstairs rooms were difficult to access if you were disabled or elderly.

This resort has a lovely treed setting with a great covered bbq outdoor area. It is very shady. The location is great, very close to the beach and restaurants. Our apartment was very quiet and well equipped. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The air conditioner was one of the quietest we have experienced.

Unfortunately although our apartment was advertised with a pool or garden view (and it did have a tree next to it and plants along the fence line) it really faced a four storey building and looked down over the car park which was disappointing.

We loved the outdoor alfesco/kitchenette. The pool area will be so good in summer with all the shady trees however the area was not in total shade. It was so convenient for all the restaurants and the beach.

The leaf blower. Whilst we appreciate this needs to be done regularly timing could be more considered and certainly the acquisition of a battery leaf blower for noise reduction.
