Hotel Grano de Oro

The staff were exceptional, extremely friendly and exceedingly helpful. We communicated in Spanish and English. They went above and beyond to assist us with booking and confirming trips as well as car service. The room was comfy and quaint with our own private garden. The indoor/outdoor restaurant is romantically adorable. The photos of this hotel lived up to and beyond expectations.

Can't say there was much, if anything, I did not like. If you twist my arm, I would say the fitness center is a bit lackluster. There were only two ellipticals and a rowing machine - no weights or a bike. There is ample space to stretch in this indoor/outdoor fitness area.

The room was clean and spacious. The drinks and snacks in the mini fridge were free. They provided fresh fruit upon arrival and one other day. It was nice having a little patio to look out upon, but it was small and we didn't use it. Also, the architecture and the history of the building was very interesting. It added an elegant and mysterious touch.

I didn't like that breakfast wasn't included. There was a restaurant on site, but it was a bit on the expensive side. We ate there for dinner one night and it was wonderful, but I'd prefer not to splurge on breakfast. The bathroom also needed to have more counter space.

Beautiful hotel, the food was really good both for dinner and breakfast. The staff was friendly and attentive to my special request (honeymoon). Free parking included, there was even people waiting for us with umbrellas as it was raining when we arrived. I can't speak about the location as we didn't go out that much due to the weather. It took us about 15min drive from the airport to reach the hotel. We couldn't use the rooftop jacuzzi but the terrasse is beautiful. Totally recommend this hotel!

If I really have to find something, I would say the isolation could be a bit better. Maybe it was because our room was near the elevator so there was quite some traffic, but we could hear very clearly people talking in front of our door. It didn't held us back from sleeping but the first time it was a bit confusing because it was almost like people were with us in the room.

The hotel is absolutely the most beautiful with an open air restaurant courtyard, flowers and plants inside and out and the standard double room was lovely. The staff went above and beyond to help us find a pharmacy open on Easter! The roof top area was very relaxing with table umbrellas and plants for shade and fresh towels after dipping into the jacuzzi. The restaurant had many choices for dinner ranging from chicken, duck, beef, vegetarian options. The food and service was exceptional. We felt comfortable despite attire that was more casual.

The building is beautiful, the service is very friendly and good. The rooms are small, although they are well equipped and the minibar is loaded and complimentary. The absolute best about the Hotel is the food! All the food served is delicious and prepared the classic way. The cuisine selection is very classic, french and delicious to another level. For me living in latin America since 3 years, the food we ate at the Hotel has been the best food I have eaten on the American continent in the last 5 years. I am a fifth Generation Swiss Hotelier and grew up in a classic 5 star Hotel, where I enjoyed food from the famous Chef Maitre de France for roughly 20 years. I know what I am talking about and I want to compliment the Chef of the restaurant Grano de Oro with maximum respect. Keep up the good work and I will recommend your restaurant to all my friends who visit San Jose.

Size of the room.

This is a lovely Hotel. It's in a safe locale. Gated parking is available. The staff is very professional and efficient. The restaurant has excellent meals and service. Additionally, the overall ambience is awesome. I loved all of the plants inside and the hot tubs. I highly recommended a stay especially for couples. DCB

Relative to the hotel itself, it matched the wonderful experience of the restaurant. Excellent professional and friendly staff . . . we asked if they had a program for frequent stays, because this is and will be our hotel when in San Jose. Outstanding.

Absolutely nothing. If anything, perhaps an extra electrical outlet near the bed? Still, comfortable, clean and an oasis in the middle of a crazy city! :). Thank you HGdO!

Very beautiful, elegant and cozy decor. Room with good Wi-Fi and safe. Also quiet.It has a beautiful and cozy garden with a fountain. Good gym for my needs. Jacuzzi for guests. Excellent restaurant with French Costa Rican fusion food. Efficient staff. Location: the neighborhood where the hotel is located is good, but a little far from attractions. A 20 minute walk or a cheap $3 Uber to downtown.So location OK

Beautiful hotel and restaurant in close proximity to the airport - which made it the perfect spot for us the night before our flight. The hotel is beautifully decorated and feels serene amongst the hustle and bustle of San Jose. The staff were very professional, friendly and helpful. Rooms are decorated to a high spec and super clean.

The property is beautiful. The staff was truly exceptional. The bellman even loaned us taxi money when we didn't have the proper amount in local currency. I don't think I've ever experienced such an exceptional hospitality staff. The restaurant is as amazing as promoted! This property and restaurant are worth every penny!!
