Friends Hotel & Rooftop

Really friendly an helpfully Employee. Rooms were clean and in a good condition. Breakfast also really good with a nice view.

I think the Hotel is in a good Area (near to all Sightseeings) but I was attacked in front of the Hotel from 2 People with knifes at 8PM.

The hotel is very well located in the old town and offers good value for the price. The staff will do everything they can to make your stay in Quito great. There are many day trips that the hotel can organize so you might want to check those before you make your plan. They are very caring, e.g. when arriving at the hotel tired after our tour to Cotopaxi, they prepared fresh juice. Great breakfast variation. The walking tour offered by the hotel with Marcos was the highlight of the stay in Quito. We visited places where we would have never ran into ourselves, like the local food market or chocolate shops. This way we got also ideas for great souvenirs. More than just history, it was an experience for all senses.

Everything about this hotel is great! The location is wonderful. It’s a short 2 block walk to the independent square and a 10 minute walk to Basilica del Voto Nacional. The hotel is on a walking street with some great restaurants. The bed was extremely comfortable, the showers were hot, the breakfast was great and the views of the city were incredible. We were also surprised there was a smart tv in the room, which isn’t necessary but was nice to relax with at the end of the day. We did venture out at night for dinner and drinks while we were here and felt completely safe (though we were back inside by 8-8:30 which is why the tv was nice) The staff is wonderful. Great suggestions for restaurants and activities and good conversations.

I liked my room very much because it had a nice view onto the towers of the convent nearby. The people at the reception were very friendly and helpful especially Soledad and Meredith. Breakfast was nice. Getting from Mariscal Sucre airport to the Old Town is a pain but I'm glad I chose to stay in the Old Town and Junin Street being semi pedestrian was a plus. All the main landmarks in the Old Town are within easy walking distance.

Because the chef lives far away breakfast only starts at 7:45 which is too late if you have an excursion. I told Meredith it would be great to have a microwave and a kettle in the common room. Traffic is murder everywhere in Quito so the room was noisy late into the night.

Beautiful guesthouse only a short walk from the main square. We stayed for 3 nights and had a double room with a balcony. The bed was comfortable and the ensuite bathroom had a good sized shower. Everything was spotless. There were plenty of blankets too so didn't find it too cold. Breakfast was tasty and came with a great view on the rooftop. Pick up from the airport was easy to arrange and we had good communication with the hotel staff generally.

I think free drinking water should be offered as part of the stay and for the price of the room. The hotel was in a quiet area and we slept well but other guests moving around on the wooden floors or coming back late did cause a fair bit of noise - but this is unavoidable and common in other places we stayed in Ecuador.

This hotel is in an excellent location just a few minutes walk from the main square of the historic centre of Quito. The street is quiet, the rooms charming and comfortable, the breakfast excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful (a special mention for Evalina - sorry if spelling wrong). Tours and transfers can be organised through the hotel.. We cannot comment on all of them but the airport transfer and city driving tour (El Panecillo+Teleferico+Mitad del Mundo) were good and offered at a price that seemed on par with competitors. The Mindo transfer however was a bit on the high side we thought - a travel agent on the main square quoted a price 30% lower. So if you have time shop around but if not, be assured that the transfer services offered by the hotel are of high quality - both driver and car. All in all, Friends is an excellent accommodation option for the price in Quito's historic centre.

There wasn't anything we didn't like. However, the property does involve climbing a lot of stairs. If you have mobility issues this hotel might not be for you.

Friends hotel has a perfect location. You can see some historical icons like panecillo, feel the peacefull atmosphere, and indee make new friends. Personnel are super friendly, helful, looking out always for customers. A apwcial thank you to Lisandro, Henry, Mariano, Juanito, Yale, Jose and Juan for tremendous hospitality. Breakfast, room cleaness, reception, everything was sharp. At walking distance restaurants but recommended for hawain atmosphere Hula Hula, Bar restaurant, owner super attentive and workers too. Our meals were freshley prepared and super deliciuos. In general, our wxperience in Quito waa amazing. Please use private drivers from hotel, very special, patient, and feel very secure, prices are OK, for a peace of mind, since we compared and their were not huge difference. Space is short to express my overall joy.

No worries, no elevator since it is an historical building, so was quite understandable.

The staff was absolutely helpful. They answered all my questions and helped with all the things I need, from getting around the city, laundry, and other things. Also, the staff was very knowledgable on how to get around and will give you advice for traveling and sightseeing. The rooms and facilities were clean. The staff cleans everyday. The hotel is in the center of old town, which is very convenient to go around. There are supermarkets, local markets, and restaurants that are walking distance from the hotel. The breakfast was great, delicious, and healthy WITH AMAZING VIEWS. This is a quite establishment, which is great if you are trying to stay away from a party scene.

Everything was great. Just a heads up, you will be hearing car noises outside, which is common for any old town buildings. Also, this is something that the hotel cannot control. Just keep this in mind if you are a light sleeper.

We wanted comfortable accommodation close to the historic district of Quito and that is what we got. Located in a very old building, rooms are slightly "quirky" but nonetheless clean and comfortable. The rooftop terrace where an excellent breakfast is served each morning is a real bonus and the view from there looking across to the Virgen del Panecillo is stunning. A special shout out to the entire staff too - super friendly and very, very helpful not only during our stay but in the leadup. Their communication after we made the booking and then their assistance once we arrived was simply outstanding.

This hostel was so awesome! Great aesthetically and really friendly lovely staff. They gave us a map and explained all the must-see sites of Old Town. All of Old Town is easily walked from there and there is a really fun area to get dinner, which we did all three nights, a 10 minute walk away. If you google 'El Canddyl De La Ronda' that's one of the restaurants in the fun area. They had breakfast each morning on the rooftop which was always delicious! Fresh blended fruit juices, bowl of fruit and then usually eggs on toast or waffles.

Being an older building, the doors let all the sound in and most of the rooms face the central stairwell, so anytime someone walked up and down or when the blender for breakfast first went off in the morning it can be hard to sleep. Bring earplugs :) The beds were also quite hard and small with rock hard pillows. The wifi isn't very strong and reliable. But we were in Ecuador so we didn't mind these things, just things to be aware of if they are no-go's for you with booking.
