Novotel Orléans Sud La Source

Who would not smile when seeing an old Citroën DS cut in half and transformed into armchairs near the reception desk? There’s also a lovely scent oozing out of the communal areas. Our youngest child made the most of the swimming pool and the game’s room. She only walked away when I showed her my true table tennis skills. Later, as the sun was setting, a couple of guitar players did their best to distract a pretty indifferent crowd, in the large back garden.

What we tried from the evening menu was fine but felt disappointing in contrast with the range of inventive and generous meals we were lucky to enjoy in the South of France, the week before.

We have visited this hotel a few times over the last 5 years. Each time it gets better. There is a pool and so much to do for kids, it is a family orientated hotel who have done so much over the last few to improve facilities for parents travelling with children after perhaps driving long distances. There is a huge outdoor play area and now an indoor play room with Table tennis table and a pool table along with video games and board games it is fantastic!

Nothing.

Great to be able to Park right outside our room, we were travelling with our little dog who is very old and this hotel is truly dog friendly in that she was allowed everywhere. The breakfast was fresh varied and plentiful but what made our stay extra nice were the helpful cheerful staff.

The fridge in our room had been removed - it would have been useful to have one as we had picnic food for lunches on our journey from Spain to home in the UK but no problem really as it was very cold in the car overnight anyway.

This was a stop on our way to Spain. Perfect for a dive in the pool after a long drive, and some leisure in the recreation room. The kids loved this hotel! The check-in staff was very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The grounds were spacious and offered a variety of seating options. Nice continental breakfast.

The pull-out bed was a little uncomfortable and the restaurant was a bit too pricey. But all in all still a hotel we would recommend!

This hotel is well placed for an overnight stopover travelling by road towards Calais as it is close to the A71 on outskirts of Orleans. There is nearby housing but it is also next to pleasant woodland, good for a stroll or run or walking your dog. The rooms are very comfortable and the restaurant is very good. We have stayed here 3 times this year: the menu has been substantially different each time and always varied and interesting.

Our dog thought the green model sheep in the foyer was a threat to his existence! (Please ignore his opinion in this case)

The outdoor space is perfect for children and families. There is a brilliant games room downstairs with pool, jenga, darts etc

It was very busy and we were told we couldn't book dinner until 9.30pm which with small children was not acceptable however they managed to fit us in sitting outside which was a lovely location in fact, and then we saw lots of spare tables so I am not sure why that was an issue. The pool area is too small they need to expand it out a bit more. Our room was very small, it had a double bed and a sofa bed and there was only a 5cm gap between the beds, it was not originally a family room I am sure they just added the sofa bed in we couldn't walk round to the other side of the sofa bed it was right up against the window. The air conditioning in our room was set to one temperature. It wasn't cold enough in 38o.

We Only spent the night but would have loved to stay longer to try other facilities. The room was comfortable for the 4 of us. We were travelling with 2 young children. The Breakfast was ok. I have been to many Novotel hotels and this one fell short. There was always something missing and or not enough. The choice was also very limited (for a Novotel). Dinner was great and the wine we choose was also very good! They make a very tasty hamburger for kids. My son loved it. The pool was closed during our stay. But there is a big playground for kids and adults can sit around with a drink to watch them or play pingpong just across from them. It felt really safe in the hotel. They also have a private parking that's free. We have been there twice and will stop there next time on our way South.

The breakfast.

We have stayed many times over the years, a great stop off point from the motorway A71. Originally our choice was for a family deal with two connecting rooms, not sure that still exists since the hotel has been extensively renovated.

The service in the restaurant was not great, carafes of water were lukewarm and hard to catch anyone’s eye. The evening buffet a bit disappointing for the price. Breakfast was better quality but overpriced at 17€/ person.

We arrived after midnight, and we were welcomed with a big smile. After a long drive, we were exhausted by the time we arrived at the hotel. The person who greeted us made us feel right at home. Our daughters were super happy to receive free sleep eye mask to make their sleep more comfortable :) Would definitely come back here again!

The hotel is located a bit outside the Orleans center. It has ample free parking and has a spacious lobby. We liked the games room a lot and their free water machine. Breakfast was quite good. Lobby was tastefully decorated. Overall was a nice one-night stay on our way and good value for money.

A bit of a drive from Orleans city center and there is not much around the hotel.
