Mercure Hotel Koeln Belfortstrasse

Breakfast was really good, I definitely enjoyed making myself a waffle! The selection of cheeses, meat cuts and jams for your pastry was great. As someone mentioned, it’s not really well organised, but I guess there’s some reasoning behind it :) Hotel has two buildings, we lived in the new one (I guess). I know there is a pool in the hotel, but unfortunately I didn’t have time to try it out. The location is nice, metro is near and it’s a 10-minute walk from the central train station (and the Dom).

The room was ok, but walking to another building for breakfast isn’t really convenient. We had a nespresso coffee maker with some capsules (not really tasty) and no kettle, which was disappointing, since you can’t have your evening cup of tea 😕 The cleaning could have been much better! I can’t say that the room was dirty, but it’s something you notice. Clean towels had other people’s hair :( Shower cabin wasn’t the most convenient, water got to the bathroom floor etc.

The room was very clean and was a very good size. The location was excellent, and staff were brilliant communicators and couldn't have been more accommodating. The breakfast was excellent and there was a very good choice of foods to suit everybody.

When we booked through bookings.com we booked a double/king size bed - when we arrived, it was two beds pushed together. It was explained that none of the beds in the hotel were anything different than two beds pushed together, but by this token, Bookings.com shouldn't be advertising it as such. The water in the rooms is sparkling only, should be the option for still.

The suite we booked was wonderful and the kitchenette very helpful as we stayed for 10 days. The location is spot on, near public transport and within walking distance to the Rhine. We shall definitely come again.

The WiFi was wobbly in the first few days of our stay and the reception said they had trouble with the provider. They sorted it out and it worked just fine.

Location is convenient (20 mins by walking from the station or subway stop close to the hotel), nice pool, the room was really clean and the bed really comfy. Breakfast was also really good, they have many options and you can also do waffles by yourself! It was really fun! I also really liked that they had really nice body products (shampoo, body lotion and shower gel) in the bathroom.

Room was really hot, I turned the heating off, kept the window open and it was ok, but i don't want to imagine being there in summer with 30° in a day where airco doesn't work...

the hotel was very helpful. I arrived early in the morning, so they were able to store my luggage, since you can only check in from the afternoon. The mattress was so comfy. the hotel is in a very good location. The cathedral can be reached by a comfortable walk in 10-15 minutes, and it is very pleasant to walk along the river bank. the breakfast is very varied, I think everyone will find what they like. The pool is a little bit cold - but refreshing

The staff where extremely helpful and professional, the beds was amazing best yet, breakfast was so nice and the variety was amazing.

Only thing was the size of the room as I had booked 3 rooms and asked for 1 to be put into a 2 single beds but they chose a small room, but that was the only problem.

Hotel staff were very nice and friendly, especially the bar staff Not to far from City Centre Comfortable room with large TV Breakfast was good with a huge variety of options - Cereal, English Breakfast, Waffles, Fruit, Teas and Coffees

the breakfast was lovely. Personnel was fine, especially Mr. in reception (unfortunately, did not have chance to ask the name) was very and very helpful and polite.

Wi Fi was very and very poor. Let say, there was not wi fi at all.

Location, while secluded is convenient to the centre of city as well as walking distance to Rhine promenade.

The exterior is a bit dull but once inside, it ticks all the boxes. The lads doing the cleaning rooms just skips through them, but the ladies are conscientious.

The receptionists and cleaners were exceptionally great in meeting up to our demands.

We had booked this hotel because of the pool but unfortunately it was out of service at the time of our arrival. In compensation, we’ve been offered free parking .
