APA Hotel Asakusa Tawaramachi Ekimae

Best place I stayed in while in Tokyo, have stayed here many times and will continue to stay here for future trips. Great location in Asakusa right before the Ginza line subway station. You can walk to Sensoji in about 10 to 15 mins but you can also take the subway one station to Asakusa station if you want to appear right in front of Sensoji. There is a pier near Sensoji where you can take a boat ride to odaiba and a few other locations if you want a boat ride down Sumida river. Tokyo tower can be seen around the area and can be accessed via a transfer at the Asakusa station or better you can take a direct bus right in front of the hotel (Google map will tell you what to do). Plenty of excellent eateries for all kinds of budget around the area, and shopping like Donki, Uniqlo etc. Room size isn't great but that's typical of all Japanese business hotels. The top level onsen was a twice daily visit for me. Staff was helpful whenever I had to mail my luggage to the next hotel.

Good location, clean rooms, nearby Asakusa station and sensoji, tons of amazing small and local eateries nearby. Literally within a minute walking distance from tawaramachi station. From there you can get to Uebo station and use that station as a transit point to get to almost anywhere in Tokyo.

There is only 1 washing machine and dryer per gender, so 2 in total. (1 set/pair in each public toilet/bath room). This makes it very difficult to wash your clothes and you tend to have to wait for an hour or so before you can actually use the machine. Typical Tokyo bathrooms that are small and compact. Hardly any room to move around in the tub.

Extremely nice onsen with open air bath and view of Tokyo skyline. Location is very good 1 block from Tararawachi station. Walking distance to Tokyo's most visited Shinto shrine-Sensō-ji. Easy connection from Narita Airport via Keisei Skyliner to Ueno Skyliner/Ueno JR station to Tawaramachi station. Elevator in Tararamachi station exits at street level on the same side of the street makes luggage transport much easier.

Unlike many APA hotels, no convenience store is located within the hotel. Also, there is not a restaurant. The hotel sells breakfast coupons for the next door cafe, but the breakfast is small for the amount paid. I found a great bakery-Yamazaki- around the corner, and a breakfast place a few blocks down from the bakery, but It would have been nice to not have to leave the hotel for breakfast or snacks.

Good price/quality relation. Comfortable bed for one person. 3-5 min to closest station, with elevator. The room i had first, had tobbaco smell, but at reception they kindly agree to change it for another room.

You can't change between cooling and heating in your room, so it was too warm most of the time. A bit small room, but similar to average in Tokyo. The window on my room had natural daylight, but you cant see through it or open it.

Property was close to the train station and convenience stores. Property was clean, modern and well maintained. We had two adjoining rooms. Staff friendly and helpful.

I was hoping for a 4 person room (for our family of 2 adults and 2 children) but I could only get 2x double bed rooms (1 bed each room) so I stayed with my daughter in one room and my husband and son in the other. When my husband stayed in the hotel with his friend in 2020 they had twin beds in the same room. This option was not available this time. Also no option of breakfast included.

So this was my fifth time in Tokyo and I have been staying around this area before. Because of this I knew my way around. There are many good restaurants and bakeries in the area which is nice. The onsen was realxing and I enjoyed relaxing there almost every night. I have stayed at other APA hotels before and the room was great as always. The aircondition didn't work when I checked in, but the staff did a reset on the system and then it was all fine and no more issues. I also had some issues with my simcard and the staff helped me get ahold of customer support. They were very friendly and helpful. It is also nice that there was a laundry machine as I stayed for 19 nights. It was sometimes busy but I guess I just got lucky, because most of the time it was free. My tip would be to use it in the mornings, so that it is done before the onsen is closed for cleaning. Seemed to be the least busy then. Will definitley consider staying here again next time.

The only real miss was probably getting the breakfast. Since APA hotels is a branch of hotels I assumed the breakfast would be the same as one I stayed at years ago. This was not the case. The cafe is very small and they had three options for the breakfast menu. The first morning I had to wait almost 30min to get a table. If you are only staying for a night or two then maybe go for it. My schedule was mostly packed and I had trains to catch, places and people to see. In my opinion you will get more value for your money if you go to one of the many nearby cafes.

Excellent location, friendly staff, lovely public bath and all the amenities in the room are regularly replenished. It was actually our second stay here after enjoying it so much the first time. Note it's a business hotel chain (ie built for short buisness trips) so the rooms are small, we expected that so it was not a problem for us, but if you are someone who needs space and likes to unpack all your things you may have issues.

Nothing that can be helped, like any Japanese business hotel chain the walls are thin and some of our neighbouring guests were rather loud on a couple of nights, its not the hotels fault and we would still stay again.

The location was excellent, right next to the subway station lift exit, a 10 minute walk to the cultural centre, and surrounded by good shops and eateries. We found Men Mitsuwi, a delicious ramen restaurant just across the road. The salted bread with red beans from the bakery next door was also very good. Staff were friendly and efficient. Smoking area available in the 7-Eleven across the road. Bed was comfortable. The best thing was to be able to soak in the onsen (public bath) every day during our stay to relax all our sore muscles from sightseeing. An overall excellent stay for a very reasonable price.

Room was cleaned well although still constantly dusty.
