This lovely colonial hotel is an oasis in the midst of a busy city. We loved the tranquil authentic atmosphere. The staff was so helpful, attentive and personable. Any concerns or problems were addressed immediately. Help with transportation was always available. The cleaning staff was exceptional.

The bathrooms had some quirks (ie: a very shallow sink that easily over flowed) but nothing we couldn’t adjust to. Blankets are thin which I’m sure is fine for most people being that it is so warm in Merida. Extra blankets were available. Overall, our room was comfortable.

Charming independent boutique hotel – great location We had 6 nights staying here. Just a few minutes’ walk to the central square and with a small square on the corner that frequently has dancing entertainment lined with restaurants. Our room on the ground floor was very spacious with traditional décor. The whole place is lovingly restored with impeccable taste and attention to detail by Tom & Don. Tom was a great source of information and experiences. All staff super helpful. Lovely pool bar with great cocktails and happy hour just perfect to set us up for going out for a lovely evening in town. Parking was easy in a very nearby secure lot. Ample lovely coffee pot available in the morning for all to enjoy and chat around. Highly recommended.

There is really nothing to dislike. We booked for 2 but stayed 4 nights. Nothing was ever to much for the staff. The people coming here, quite a lot of families (both younger and older kids, teenagers and young adults). Mostly people more experienced travelers, gathering around the pool in the afternoon sipping a great cocktail from the poolbar. The rooms are perfect (we tried 2). Spotless clean. People from breakfast really are helping out with special wishing (I am allergic to gluten and they took it very very serious). Don’t doubt, just book this amazing place!

The staff is phenomenal. They are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. They speak both English and Spanish. The room was big -- it accommodated 3 adults and 2 little kids easily with room to spare. We enjoyed the pool after a day of exploring too! We had a wonderful stay, but continued to benefit from their hospitality after we left -- my cousin left her Apple Earpods in the hotel and we thought we would have no way to retrieve them. The co-owner Tom responded to my email promptly and found them in the room and shipped them back to us for free. We are truly grateful!

Such a wonderful independent hotel in the centre of Merida. The location is fantastic with a wide range of restaurants nearby for all budgets. We extended our stay by two days and stayed in two different rooms by the pool; both were very large with comfortable beds and massive TVs (with Netflx and the like) and both had outside seating areas. Some rooms have kitchens but there is also a communal kitchen which we used and has everything you need. You can help yourself to coffee in the mornings and tea throughout the day, plus each room has a drinking water dispenser and it is these thoughtful touches which make Luz en Yucatan so good (plus the staff of course) . The pool is perfect and the bar is an added bonus (with tasty cocktails for a very reasonable 75 pesos). The staff pay such attention to detail and are friendly and helpful without being in your face :-) Highly recommended!

Charming small hotel and lovely staff who make an effort to treat each guest as an individual. Creates a very nice atmosphere in the hotel with guests readily striking up conversations with each other. The free morning coffee is a nice touch which helps draw people together. Tip; the taco place "de la Union" opposite the hotel is a spotless, good value place to have a cheap and tasty dinner.

A couple of the walls need re-painting and the bathroom door didn't close properly. Otherwise all good!

beautiful and peaceful location right in the center of town. A genuine urban retreat with a lovely pool and garden. the set up was cozy and pleasing. several nooks and crannies to hang out , have a drink and relax. staff was great and there was a free tequila trolly so you could sip a shot while poolside. A terrific value for the money!

nothing to mention. there’s no restaurant on site but you have a coffee maker with a canister of ground coffee in the room that they keep stocked. there are plenty of options for dining a few feet away from the hotel so it was fine

It was only 1 day stay for us but we really liked the hotel premises (part of the old church with outstanding colonial interior). Small but nice swim pool. Each room is named after a local animal, spacious and equipped with 5 litres of water cooler. If there is no hammock in your room - just ask for one at the reception. Location is great - minutes away from the main square, lots of shops and restaurants around. Parking is just around the corner (secured and free of charge for the hotel guests).

The old world charm and friendly host delighted us and made us comfortable as soon as we walked in the door. We had access to three patio areas, including a clean, refreshing pool. Our room had good A/C, strong hot shower, drinking water, coffee maker, refrigerator, a hair dryer, and 2 beers in the refrigerator. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. It was an easy walk to Santa Lucia Square and the Grand Square as well as restaurants and a laundry.

The pillows were a little too firm for me.

Warm welcome from staff (first impressions count to tired travellers), high quality building, excellent pool area, room huge, clean, well designed. Excellent that there’s no plastic water bottles, but instead refill points. Why can’t everywhere do this? And a welcoming ice cold beer on the house…perfect!

Location is very central which means noisy, from surrounding bars. A minor issue. Use earplugs if it bothers you, or embrace it! This slight negative in no way surpasses all the positives.
