Fletcher Hotel Paleis Stadhouderlijk Hof

We planned to visit Grioningen but could not find the "right" accommodation fit. Quite by chance then, we staged our visit visit from Leeuwarden, and what a wonderful surprise: a beautiful city, historic and vibrant but without the crowds, and an hotel in the center of this city that was once a royal residence. Ask the manager for a rundown of the building"s history. The breakfast room is in an intercoonected adjacent building – have the pancakes, bacon, cheese, and syrup. Centrally located, absolutely everything is a short walking distance.

There's nothing not to like!

Location was excellent, in the middle of the old town, bars, restaurants and canals. You could walk everywhere including the train station. Beds were great, breakfast good, rooms renovated and clean. Tee and coffee makeing facilities in the room. Helpful staff, some tables also in the back garden, nice old building.

There could have been two things in the bathroom to make it perfect: curtain or door in the shower and hand'shower'/ bideshower next to toilet. And also maybe mini fridge could be added in the room.

Everything was clean. The room was comfortable, with a coffee machine. The location is perfect. Very nice view. Handwash and shower gel was of good quality.

Not comfortable with luggage, to many steps.. I missed a refrigerator. No shampoo and amenities provided. The walls are pretty thin, you hear every noise from the corridor and other rooms.

For us, the best part of the stay was the location of the hotel. It was accessible on foot to everywhere we wanted to go. Plus they also agreed to extend a bit our check out time. We were able to explore the city some more the following day given that the day we arrived, it was raining really bad and could not go around.

I really can't say anything bad about this hotel but maybe they can update the room. The room was a bit old looking and the it smelled dusty.

The location of the hotel was excellent, right in the centre in a peaceful area. My room was cosy and comfortable, with coffee and tea-making facilities. The hotel building is amazing with beautiful spacious lounges and resting areas both inside and outside.

I liked everything about the room and the hotel.

We enjoyed our stay here very much - the room was comfy, location couldn't be better and breakfast was fantastic. The thing that made our stay very special was a brilliant member of the team who was on night duty on our first night. He took the time to speak to us in detail about the history of the hotel and about Leeuwarden and Friesland, which was so interesting, and he really made our trip to Leeuwarden. A credit to the hotel.

Central location in the town, so easy access to bars / restaurants. I had a lovely view over the square. Nice hot showers and wifi was stable and worked well.

All was good - friendly staff - only down side was that it was a very old fashioned key on a heavy fob rather than a key card

I enjoyed the vibe in the hotel. Since it is a historical building, there're many small details and decorations there. My room was cozy and warm. Although I only stayed for a night, I had a good time there.

If there is a water kettle in my room, that will be great. Especially, it's always cold and raining outside. I expected I could make a cup of tea in my cozy room.

Great location, clean rooms, friendly, helpful staff

Windows cannot be opened, after about 10 minutes the rooms are hot and there's no oxygen. Staff knows about it, but cannot do anything about it. Ventillation system can't be controlled individually in rooms.

I loved the ambiance of the building. The location was perfect for walking the city. It was very quiet at night. The patio & courtyard were inviting.

That elegant dining area in the hotel was not open at the time we visited. The attached restaurant was a good option.
