Cranford Oak Motel

The Motel was very convenient for our purpose as it was handy to the Diana Isaac Retirement village where we were able to visit relatives which was the purpose of our trip to Christchurch. It was also close to a fantastic bakery and to a place where we could get great pub meals. John was very helpful if we needed information about anything.

Perhaps more information in our room about the area and a bus timetable or phone numbers for taxis, but I think this would only apply to people from out of town who did not have vehicles like us.

We have stayed at this motel five or six times. We keep going back because it has a great location, it is well appointed clean and comfortable. There is a good pub across the road that has very reasonable meals, a cafe within walking distance and a dairy just around the corner. The host is always welcoming and ensures you have a comfortable stay We will continue to use this motel whenever we are in Christchurch.

The staff, Management, room, location, facilities were all excellent. It was absolutely perfect for our needs and allowed us to focus on our sporting endeavors and following those, sightseeing around Christchurch. Highly recommend.

We were very happy with our stay. The motel is a little out of the centre with no shops/restaurants close by but the bakery, about 5minutes walk away, does excellent breakfasts. There is a bus route close by which takes you to the city centre. Rooms well appointed and comfortable. We arrived very late but there was no problem obtaining the key. It is on the corner of a busy main road but inside the room was quiet with no traffic noise. Airport not too far away - Uber cost $30.

Bed was quite soft.

We enjoyed having Netflix. The wifi was unrestricted with a speed of around 150mbps. The toilet was very clean, towel was clean, Room service was done each day while we stayed for three days. The cleaner does a really good job and was very polite. The staff there are friendly too. Quite like the glass jug of milk which was offered as other places tend give those 5ml uht milk. I quite like the soap and shampoo too Close to Central and motorway. No traffic noises was heard during our stay. Power plugs on each side of the bed.

Bed was a bit too soft. My back didn't feel too good. It hurt a little getting up each morning. No air con meant the room may feel hot during summer but we went during autumn so it was OK for us. We heard water running down thru the pipes within the wall each night while sleeping. Noise isolation wasnt that good. We heard people walking upstairs room at 12:30-1am in the morning. The upstairs corridor was also a bit noisy.

Room was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable and we had extra pillows available. The wheelchair accessible toilet and shower were well suitable and we were impressed with the pressure. Fresh towels were left each day if left on the floor for cleaning. The kitchen annemities were also adequate.

Great location for what we were visiting for. Comfortable room. Surprisingly quiet considering it's by a busy road.

All good really-no complaints. would have been nice to have a couple of wine glasses available.

The motel was very well priced very good value for money. Reasonable location. Very clean. I liked the bathroom which was slightly unusual being a longish rectangle with reasonably spacious shower and a bench running along the wall to the toilet at the other end. Seemed to work well. Plenty of parking on site. We stayed another night at this motel on our return trip because we were very satisfied with our first night at this motel.

Although there was plenty of good parking it was annoying that kerbed flower gardens were situated between the footpath outside the motel rooms and the parked car which meant having to step in garden or find a gap which wasn't obvious. Might be better to do away with these garden plots.

The host, John, was very welcoming and helpful, and always available when we had any querries during our 5 night stay. The unit was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom and well equipped kitchenette. Good laundry facilities including washing and drying.

It is not in easy walking distance to the city centre, but the bus service is great and the bus stop is conveniently located close by.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The room had a disability toilet which was ideal for our circumstances. A great location for easy access to coffee shop and restaurant.

The only downside is the very busy main road . Traffic is quiet between 11.00 and 5.30. A bit of a shock if one is unused to busy urban areas. However I appreciate that this is a fact which cannot be altered .
