Heritage Christchurch

It is so central in location. We could walk or catch a tram everywhere. Staff were friendly and efficient and room servicing was excellent.

Despite the fact that we asked for a quiet room and we’re told we got one, we all were disturbed by the dinging of tram bells regularly overnight. One night, an alarm went off and a building break-in with smashing glass. The alarm kept going on and on. Sleep was disturbed….sorry but not a great experience.

I love the big space in the rooms and dinning area, I love the simplicity of everything and specially I loved the ambiance of the Hotel. The "valet service service was great too.

The rooms were cozy and warm BUT the downstairs area was really cold. I think buying a new heater will do the trick to replace the old noise one on the wall next to the kitchen. That wall heater really needs replacement, it looks dodge as hell, it blow hot air onto the light switches. The switches show damage for the heat, please take a look at this guys, other customers can have a bad experience with this.

The place is historic, grand and lovely. The beds are great and the location couldn’t be better. Shopping, theatre, restaurants, everything is extremely close by. But like most things, it’s the people that make it special. The customer service is wonderful and exactly why we come back. A very special shout-out to Sheila (customer experience professional). She makes ever visit so special and we will definitely be back and recommend to everyone heading to Christchurch.

The location was excellent. The room was spacious and we were happy to see there was a washer/dryer. It was clean and the staff at the reception/management was very helpful.

It was hard to carry our luggage up the front stairs, of which there are not just a couple, but ten or more. The hotel seemed understaffed, but the staff that were there were helpful, but very busy. The wait staff were so so in the outside bar/restaurant. It would have also been nice to have some sort of movies on demand on the TV.

Loved the location, the room service was excellent, the building itself is so beautiful, particularly the lobby/halls/common areas- what a grand old building. The suite was generous in size and I loved the kitchen and laundry facilities, as well as the shared pool/spa/sauna/gym.

The upstairs loft area was a bit warm on the summer nights. There were floor fans, which helped.

Location is perfect for visiting Christchurch. An easy walk to all main attractions of the town. We had 1x 1bed apartment and 1 x 2bed apartment, both were really spacious and had great facilities. Great to have a washer and dryer and enough kitchen utensils to cook in if you need to. Gym and pool handy for our teenage boys.

Great old hotel - high ceilings, unusual rooms. Very interesting stay!

Running water from another room went on all night. Called it in, but they said they couldn't do anything. I imagine it would have cost the hotel quite a bit of money on wasted water. Bad for the environment, but they said they couldn't turn it off. Wondered if someone had fallen asleep in their room with the water running or something. Perhaps a timer or something could have stopped it.

Roomy suite, very well equipped, beautiful building and location is excellent. Sheila at reception was extremely friendly and helpful.

It would have been good to have a second toilet (downstairs) or at least a toilet separate from the bathroom. Also there is no porter to help you with your luggage. One day I asked that the room be serviced and they only came at 3.30pm, when my husband was resting, so we did not have a service that day.

We needed help to change flight and cancel room before we would be stranded in Auckland due to pending cyclone and heavy rain. Staff at the hotel were extremely helpful. Saved us from a serious travel problem. I had a bit of an issue over the rate we had been charged on an earlier stay. Hotel was very helpful. Not so Booking who were difficult to get hold of.

Not much. Would recommend it.

The room was super spacious we had 3 adults one child was surprised how massive the place was . it had the rooms upstairs and a bathroom. full size kitchen with all amenities and lounge and dining table and another bathroom. very clean and loved the decor better in person than the pictures . we were very happy with our stay and the staff were great and very friendly and accommodating.
