Golden Residence Hotel

1. Breakfast included, also liked a variety of food choices: from chia pudding to potato nuggets and fresh fruits. Especially being a vegeterian I found everyday what to eat, for vegans it would be difficult. 2. The view from our room. We were speechless.. You can watch the sea, sunrise and sunsets just from your balcony. Huge thanks to staff’cause we asked specifically this room. 3. All of the staff was super friendly. 4. Room service. 5. Private parking (but chargeable 6€/day). 6. Outdoor pools and plenty of space for sunbathing. 6. The birthday surprise on the house and mini gift after check out. So nice and caring! 7. The mini bar by the pool! 8. Live music (depends on the day).

Just a notice: 1. The walls are not sound-proof, not loudly, but we could hear the neighbours. 2. The indoor pool could be renewed.

we liked both our room and breakfast, location was comfortable to go by bus to the city center, and walk to the cliffs and shore for a swim. A shopping mall with a food store and fast food restaurants in a walking distance.

Confusing ways to get from one building to another ( there are 3 buildings there). The outside swimming pool and the terrace seemed too small for the number of guests staying there.

Could not fault hotel, great breakfast, plenty on offer. Would have been nice if there was some entairtment at night. Only one night was music on and you had to pay in.

The Golden Residence Hotel is a beautiful hotel with positive and inviting energy. My family and I stayed in a big, spacious, and comfortable apartment room in B block. We especially utilised the additional kitchenette. The bathroom was perfect for a big family. In the evening, we especially appreciated the views from our balcony. The breakfast was delicious and varied. My 9-year-old son especially appreciated the freshly prepared pancakes in the mornings. Overall, breakfast is suitable for a family with children. The receptionists were friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. If we had any questions, the kitchen staff were extremely helpful. The outdoor and indoor swimming pools were fantastic. The additional ramp in the outdoor pool is especially helpful to individuals with mobility difficulties.

Cons - The lifts would get very busy. - Getting from each block could cause confusion.

Very good location - far enough from crowded Funchal but still easily reachable by bus for short trips (whale watching, dinner, market etc.) We enjoyed a nice beach which was just below the hotel accessible with a narrow tunnel, it was always a nice adventure to go through! Very good breakfast but good coffee (espresso) was possible to get only at the bar, not in the main restaurant. Good size of the room, partly view to the ocean, we enjoyed that.

The staff was completely missing the smile (except one nice waitress in the restaurant). We felt the tension among the staff especially in the restaurant, the employees did not look happy doing their job. For breakfast we could not normally enter to the restaurant, the waiter had to always accompany us to the table. Strange. At least we could select a free table we liked. The buffet dinners were quite expensive so except the first evening when we came late to the hotel we preferred romantic restaurants on the beach. Another specialty of this hotel is a towel centre, usually closed to the swimming pool. Here it is at the reception which is across the street from the main building with the swimming pool!

Everything is fine - a great big room, the furniture is a bit old but everything is fine. There is an indoor heated pool and a sauna which did not work unfortunately. Excellent delicious breakfasts.

Fantastic location: couple of minuets to the beach Praia Formosa, to the Doca do Cavacas Natural Pools and "the cave" Túnel das Poças do Gomes; several good restaurants are in walking distance; bus stops are very close. 2. Friendly stuff, 3. Beautiful view from the balcony, spacious room with a kitchen.

The noise from the construction site nearby was from morning till 19.00 in the evening. The noise from hotels own air-condition device was permanent. The furniture in the room is worn-out and should be updated.

We really liked everything, the staff was very polite, accommodating to requests, hotel was very immaculate, and they even prepared for our son who had his birthday a birthday treat which was something completely unexpected and took us by surprise, was very kind and nice of them. Highly recommended to visit again, room was very comfortable, easy access, clean, spacious, breakfast was very good. As you may noticed, I am very critical with reviews, but this hotel really is high standard, and I will visit again, perhaps for our son birthday as he really enjoyed, by far the best stay we had.

There was nothing bad, they checked and exceeded our expectations, in my top list to stay when visiting Madeira.

Many may find it weird but I pretty much liked how these chains of buildings the us from the cliff all the way to Estrada Monumental through a cross street, tunnels and elevators. I really like the neighborhood with all those banana plants right next to the hotel, and view to the rocky beack of Formosa. The outside pool area is nice, the inside one is a bit small, and the saunas we out of order when we tried to use them. But if we needed something during our stay we just made a 4 minute walk to Forum Madeira shopping center, where we could buy anything we needed. Traveling by bus is usually a good idea, but after the peak hours 01 and 02 buses frequency drops and we had to wait 15-20 minutes, Bolt taxi application is a good alternative especially when you can grab an white electric one for half the price of a yellow cab.

The breakfast was a bit boring for a week, to be honest, okay there were 2-3 elements that changed on a daily basis, I expected more fresh fruits for example. During our stay we've chosen different locations for our dinner, but I would not recommend the hotels buffet dinner, you can find better options in the area.

It was our second stay at Golden Residence hotel. The location is fine both for car and public transport. We had a large room with a kitchenette which was convenient for our family. Nice views from the hotel terrace. The hotel staff was welcoming and professional.

Some more utensils for the room kitchenette would be nice (eg. like a classic sharp knife), the sofa bed is not so comfortable if you spend more nights on it. The breakfast selection could have more variety and more premium ingredients.
