Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels - Tivoli

The hotel is part of a series of hotels in the central historical souq Waqif of Doha. The location is perfect, right in the middle of the souq, which is a pedestrian area full of shops and restaurants. The decoration of the hotel and the room is very nice, traditional and modern at the same time.

Staff was very friendly but a bit confused. They did not manage to give us a working key card to open our room, we only managed to open the room thanks to the cleaning staff. It was not such a big deal for us as we stayed only one night, but as the hotel has ambitions to be a high standard hotel, such things should not happen.

Overall the hotel location was very good but very hard to find as there are no signs and no parking in front of the hotel due to restricted area. We booked a suite which was fabulous. Requested two rooms with two single beds in each but unfortunately only one room had two beds, they were requesting an additional charge to go to a premium room but i refused to pay and they arranged another bed in one of the rooms.

For a 5 star hotel the service at breakfast was very bad. especially the serving of tea we would finish our breakfast and no sign of tea despite ordering several times. Welcome at reception was very nice by Abdullah but he gave us wrong information on breakfast time we got there the time he gave us but they refused us breakfast as it was late. Abdullah clarifed he made a mistake. Poor management as we requested due to error to reimburse us with lunch but they refused saying we needed to pay. Asked for refund on the day we were leaving for the missed breakfast and now management was happy to give lunch to reimburse but we were leaving for airport so no good. Not good customer service for a 5 star hotel. Stayed in 3-4 star before where customer service goes above and beyond.

The location in Souq Waqif is excellent, the hotel buildings are in the middle of the "real" souq, i.e. busy market place. Taxis are readily available for transportation to further sights in Doha and very reasonably priced. WiFi in the area worked well. The restaurant in the hotel was good. However, you need to remember to take money/credit card with you, as you cannot book the costs into the room.

We stayed in Al Jomrok, but the breakfast was available in another of the group hotels, not far away - but it would have been nice to know this when we made the reservation. Similarly, the architecture in Al Jomrok is such that the room windows are to an inside corridor (which probably was a balcony in the building originally), i.e. no way to open the window for fresh air (air conditioning worked OK).

Overall a great place to stay. Location is great for the Souq Waqif, and other attractions by foot. There is also a taxi rank opposite which makes getting to other places easy. The room was very clean and nice, I would give it 10/10 on that front. Reception staff were very helpful too.

Staff intrusion, twice. The first time I was shaving with my noise cancelling earphones in, and a guy just turned up at the bathroom door (could have been worse though). Trying to learn from that mistake, I put the do not disturb sign outside. The next day I was disturbed by another staff member telling me I had to check out...a day early. I'm pretty laid back but that was quite annoying. If you're a light sleeper you'll want to bring earplugs if you're in 5201 because of the calls to prayer too.

Very nice hotel, great location. The ability to walk around a well-known bazaar Souq Waqif at any time. In the evening, there are many restaurants with Eastern and European cuisine nearby. Excellent combination of price and quality of services.

The hotel was located in the old marketplace Souq Waqif which I specifically wanted to visit. My room was beautiful.

I chose this hotel because the listing online described it as having an airport shuttle. This was a huge problem: 1. I emailed 3x, txted, and tried to phone the hotel to ask how to find the shuttle when I arrived at Doha airport. The hotel NEVER RESPONDED. 2. booking.com's website said to email them with questions at res.vswq@tivolihotels.com, but when this is no longer in use! 3. The hotel front desk manager said that the airport shuttle is very expensive and needs to be arranged in advance! Therefore listing the shuttle in booking.com is wrong and deceptive. ... The hotel emailed me asking for my arrival time. However I could not reply because the email address of the hotel was donotreply!

We were moved to Al Jasra as our booking at Al Mirqab was not available despite all the communication on Booking.com and exteriorly to confirm our arrival and time of arrival. This was a nightmare as we had travelled for a long time with a baby and just wanted to get the room and refresh ourselves. Luckily, the guy at the desk did his very best to move us to Al Jasra which was on the other side of Souq Waqif and the metro station, which I was very unhappy about. This was a blessing in disguise as after an hour of waiting, we were taken to Al Jasra, which is actually all suites and super spacious and modern. The room and bathroom was incredible, and it came with a fantastic kitchenette and a huge wardrobe.

As above with the terrible check-in situation, one more downside the breakfast was at another hotel and we had to either walk 5-10 minutes or wait for a club car to take us.

Overall, this hotel is absolutely top class! The location is brilliant directly at Souq Waqif! Every day the room is cleaned again. The staff is very friendly. Water is provided free of charge every day. There is also a gym in the nearby Al Jasra Hotel. This is fully equipped. There is also a sauna, but it is only free for 30 minutes every day.

Unfortunately, the sauna/spa area can only be used for 30 minutes a day - even if the sauna area is completely empty. This is very unfortunate. Also, the hamam is hardly heated. The sauna must be turned on in advance by the staff. So when you make an appointment it can be that the sauna is off. It is therefore advisable to give the staff 2 hours notice. Otherwise, the sauna is cold. However, it makes sense that the sauna is cold, otherwise a lot of energy is wasted.

I loved this place! It is literally in souq Waqif, so if u came to explore this it’s the perfect choice. The oriental interior design is awesome. The beds are so comfortable and all the little details in the decoration make it very pleasant. Great staff! Especially Tina from Seychelles was so lovely!!! I enjoyed interesting conversations with her and she gave a brilliant and happy vibe to the place. I can recommend and will be back if I can.

Not really an issue but the communication about where the breakfast takes place was not as good. It is a group of hotels and they are spread over the souq.

We had a wonderful stay at the Arumalia Hotel. The rooms were spacious, nicely decorated and offered everything you need. The bed was comfortable and the location right at the Souq was great. However, what made our stay really special was the staff. First and foremost, Mohammed Darkaoui from the reception was extremely kind and attentive and went above and beyond to cater to all of our needs. The housekeeping staff did a fantastic job, as well as the restaurant staff from La Piazza/La Patisserie. We'd also like to mention the Sri Lankan pool boy at one of the other hotels and our tea host. Really, everyone was exceptional. We also enjoyed our free walking tour with Abubakar. We absolutely recommend this place
