aha The Rex Hotel

The hotel is situated in a great central location in Knysna, only a couple of minutes walk from the waterfront. The room was modern, clean and great value for money. The reception staff were very welcoming and accommodating.

The breakfast was very limited - even though breakfast is served until 10am, at 9am there were no eggs, etc, left and once the food was gone it was not replenished. Additionally, when hot drinks were ordered at breakfast, they took 15/20 mins to arrive when you’d finished eating even though there was only a few other people in the restaurant.

A very contemporary look and feel to the property. Great selection at the breakfast buffet and the choices were beautifully laid out. The room was spacious, plenty of hot water and an enjoyable rain shower. The rooms are all angular, so when you walk down the corridor (hallway), it seems like you're walking along a zigzag, which is an interesting design. Parking is onsite, free, secure, with several stalls to choose from. It's only a two-minute walk to the Knysna waterfront with lots of shops and restaurants available.

The property is inside a multi-purpose building complex and very difficult to find. There is no external signage so we ended up driving around the block a couple of times before verifying that it is indeed where the hotel is. Not a big deal, though.

the place is in the center and very close to the waterfront.. can't get a better location. There is a nice pool. Breakfast was super tasty and staff was very friendly.

well, nothing really bad at all, but the rooms are "basic" or modern. There are other hotels in Knysna that have more charming and old rooms, which gives you a nice "Africa feeling". But still nothing negative here, rooms were still modern and spacious.

Everything about the aha rex ...the friendliness of the staff ,the food the service around during breakfast...the bed...the bed...hahahaa

Eish not having room service and there was no menu in the room ...their phone was not working at that moment to make an order at the restaurant ..aag one had to walk up and down on our lazy day where we just wanted to be in bed.

Staff were super friendly and helpful. Check in process was easy. Very clean and a very comfortable bed.

Breakfast was ok, but not the best I've had. Bathroom could do with some hand soap for washing your hands available rather than having to use the little bottle of body wash they leave for showers. Reception entrance was hard to find at night time. Had to call to get someone to come out to find us. But the staff were excellent.

We stayed over 2 nights and chose this establishment for its locality, which is great by the way, and for the buffet breakfast. On the first morning the breakfast was not all buffet and we could ask the kitchen for our cooked breakfast. I chose poached eggs which got 10/10! The next morning their was a lot more guests and breakfast was buffet. ( I missed not being able to ask for my poached eggs) Buffet breakfast was never less scrumptious. The rooms are modern and comfortable. Everything a traveler needs is supplied.

Finding the Hotel was not easy as there is no branding in the main road to easily locate it. Also reception is not an easy find.

We liked the location. We could leave our car there and walk everywhere. Also, the breakfast was really good!

Didn't like the meal I ordered from their restaurant. It was a chicken burger and fries but the fries were overly salted and the coleslaw salad which was put on the bun, were sour so the two did not compliment each other very well. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay.

Rooms were nice and clean with a modern touch. The restaurant served breakfast, lunch and dinner and had nice indoor and outdoor seating. The pool was rather small and the surrounding setting was okay - nothing spectacular. The location was good, walking distance to waterfront, restaurants and super market. Save parking on hotel ground. All in all we can recommend!

The location of this hotel is within 7minutes walk to the Waterfront. The room was spacious and contemporary and well equipped. The beds/pillows are very comfortable. We slept very well. Parking on site. Small pool and sun loungers available. Breakfast with plenty of choice. Friendly and polite staff. This was a return visit to this hotel and again would not hesitate to rebook again.

The hotel still lacks prominent street signage so can be easily missed when driving past as on our first visit.

The hotel is well located next to the waterfront including restaurants making it and ideal location to experience Knysna.

The only thing i did not like about the hotel is the open shower - i think it should enclosed to ensure water is not spilled across the bathroom floor
