Firstly, Appel, the owner is amazing and made us feel so welcome. We loved the ease of location just off the N2 and thought it would be noisy at night, but it was peaceful. (a great location away from the hustle and bustle of Knysna center, but within walking distance or a short drive to the center) The lodge overlooks the lagoon and is a lovely sight to wake up to in the mornings. I was surprised and happy that breakfast was included and exceeded my expectations. Was an enjoyable 2-night stay and is really good value for money. I will recommend to clients and friends wishing for a decently priced self-catering lodge in Knysna. Thank you Appel and Lagoon Lodge.

Excellent, delicious breakfast; hospitable, helpful and friendly staff; comfortable bed, quality linen and a lovely view. Great value for money.

A little noise from a motor of some sort until 10.30pm, no plug/ telephone charger next to bed. Bathroom a little tired - a few modern bathroom accessories like hooks, a chair, a shelf, a longer towel rail and a modern, clean looking shower caddy would make a huge difference. Mugs for coffee instead of those impractical, shallow cups.

Good value for money and amazing views from the balcony. Breakfast was freshly cooked and great. Lights during load shedding which was fantastic and a big plus!

A bit of noise due to the proximity to the N2 but quiet enough when the door was closed Restaurants and shops not within walking distance

Excellent friendly staff and management. Did their utmost to assist and welcome us. Introduced all facilities, internet passwords and TV details to us. Even informed us about nearby restaurants, events etc.

Do never accept a room downstairs. Upper rooms have all wooden floors and ANY MOVEMENT upstairs have a direct impact on all you activities downstairs etc, sleep, rest, eat, whatever etc etc. I.e If the people upstairs party till 12 midnight, no sleep for you !!!!

The property is safe and secure and has the most stunning views over the Lagoon

As a light sleeper there was some noise from the N2, but the N2 runs straight through Knysna - this is something that would travel through most of the town in the dead of night.

Beautiful historic building, I had a top floor room with my own private balcony overlooking the lagoon. Lovely to be able to sit outside at night with a glass of wine. Super friendly host and good breakfasts.

Loud traffic noise but earplugs did the trick :) Mattress could be updated.

I love the fact that John Appelgryn and his team always go the extra mile- I realise that many people miss the ball there in todays life But John really has a personal hand's on approach where it comes to being a host in his lodges Thank you for great service

From the friendly reception with Frikkie to the very friendly interaction with Appel, this was a great stay. The room was adequate and having a door onto the deck was great. There was ice in the fridge and a great selection on DSTV. The breakfasts were really good value for money, tasty and very filling. The egg omelet was really well done, and all in all, it was a comfortable and restful stay.

The towels will need replacement soonish. A bottle of drinking water would be great.

They had an electric blanket! This was great as it was cold (august)Comfy great big bed and clean room. Great view across the lagoon.

Bit of traffic noise from the main road that runs along the front but this dies down at night time.

The breakfast was excellent. The extra info on were to go and what places to visit was excellent

The braai grid was not clean
