Shilla Stay Gwanghwamun

Great hotel with easy transport links to trains on either side of it. It was also very close (walkable) to the start of the river stream running through the city which is nice to walk down both during the day and night. We opted not to include breakfast with our package as there are many local cafes/ coffee shops all around the hotel even with a Starbucks linked downstairs to the hotel. The room felt spotless and there was enough space to store suitcases on one side. The bathroom was excellent with a large shower area with good pressure, nice soaps and a heated seat toilet. The hotel also felt like it had been recently renovated which made it feel fresh. Would recommend this to anyone who is stopping through Seoul to see the city.

Awesome location considering we traveled to see League of Legends games. If you're visiting Seoul to go to LoL Park, this is right beside LoL Park! Our room was very clean. One thing you have to be ready about is probably the bathroom, it has a very advanced toilet which was a pleasant surprise. The staff at the reception speak good English so there's no struggle on that part. The cleaners are not so fluent but trust me, you'll be able to manage. They're also quick with the service and are very approachable. It's a quiet area, it's easy to hail a cab and if you can't book or find one, the reception can take care of it for you.

The hotel is perfectly located to visit some of the main significant points of the city by walk (the palaces, Insadong, Bukchon village, museums, the small river in Cheonggyecheon, etc) and there are plenty of restaurant options nearby. It's also really well connected to the rest of the city thanks to the close metro stops from lines 1 and 3. The hotel rooms although not huge, are nicely decorated, super clean and the beds are really comfy. We didn't experience any issues with the air conditioning, it worked perfectly for us. The breakfast is definitely worth the price! It was one of the most complete buffets we've experienced. The overall hotel experience was really good and we wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Staff doesn't speak a lot of English so it might be difficult to understand each other if you have requests or need advice

The location was great, near the subway and well equipped with amenities. Staff were friendly.

The use of one time use paper cups instead of porcelain or glass cups which we can reuse for greater sustainability. Also the soaps are in small bottles which makes it less sustainable compared to big bottles soap so that one can press instead of keep getting new small refilled soap bottles.

-The hotel is located in the heart of the Gwanghwamun area, which is a great location for tourists. It's within walking distance to many popular attractions like the Gyeongbokgung Palace and the National Museum of Korea. -The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful.

-It can be a little noisy at night and early in the morning. -Some of the eateries in the area can be rather expensive.

Nice location, close to city centre and transport. Also we liked the breakfast setup (reasonable options for non-Asian people).

Not a deal breaker, but the toilet washing facility was not working properly (too low pressure). There was a pressure-adjustment button, but I think there was a problem with water supply valve (possibly partially blocked), and we didn't bother to ask for a fix (due to our short stay).

Customer service is exceptional. The bed was really comfortable.

The air-conditioning is centralised making it difficult for me and my partner to adjust to a comfortable temperature The temperature was set to 25 degrees which was too warm for us. The concierge was attentive and was very apologetic He offered alternatives such as putting in a fan and offered us a refund if needed. Given his options were quite limited.

location: fantastic, most places of interest were within walking distance. Palace, Insadong, restaurants, Starbucks as well as convenience stores and doctor's office. Room: decent size, staff kept it clean. Also laundry on premise.

Maybe laundry could have more machines, since there were a lot of users. Receptionists looked grumpy.

The hotel is in a great location, near to Jonggak metro station. It's walking distance from many of the key sights, such the two main palaces. There are lots of restaurants etc nearby. The hotel is nice, has good air conditioning and was reasonably quiet. The breakfast buffet was good, lots of variety including both continental and local options.

Genuinely great value for short stay. Me and my husband both enjoyed the cleanness of the property and easy access to heart of Seoul.

Although it was overall located in convenient area kwanghwamoon which we didn’t have to use taxi or underground for our stay but strolling around namdeamoon, palace, insadong and myungdong but I think it will be better fit for those staying for business because this area is actually business district.
