Travelodge Dongdaemun Seoul

We just visited Seoul for the first time and didn't know what to expect so we just googled places and hotels that still had rooms left because most of the hotels were fully booked because of the worldwide 25th scout jamboree being held. And this was one of the few hotels left that had a room good for 2 adults and a kid. Anyways, it was a blessing in disguise since right outside the hotel you can find the underground mall for Dondaemun where you can actually walk to different subway lines. It's also walking distance to the Gwangjang Market (around a 15min walk only) and around 10-15min walk to DDP complex and shopping center/subway to line 4 and 2. You can walk to the line 4 subway station and take that to go to Myeongdong station. There's also a 7-11 within walking distance, coffee shops, and CU convenience store too. The rooms are clean, showers hot and strong, and you can hang out on the 21st floor to eat or just look at the surrounding area of Seoul. Overall a fairly good hotel and pricing was right on point. Staff was friendly and helpful, and their English was ok.

The only thing I could say would be that the room was fairly small but that was to be expected for a hotel in Asia. We didn't try the breakfast as it was supposedly not very good and was still the prevailing opinions when we were there.

location was strategic. subways and traditional markets are all within walking distance. DDM Plaza and many recommended 맛집s are also within foot. Peaceful environment at night so you can get a good night's rest.

Walls are not soundproof so neighbouring room was loud at 2am. Sink is semi-clogged and water flowed very slowly. There is no bidet which made it difficult and uncomfortable.

The location was perfect, located in a very centric part of the city, close to the night markets and close to lots of places during the day. It is a very safe and quiet location, great for walking at any time of the day (or night), and perfect for light sleepers [no noise or loud sounds]. The staff was very friendly and professional, all areas were tidy and clean, the water pressure and hot water were good. Perfect for light travelers and weekend getaways. Some people may find some of the rooms small or compact, but this really should not be an issue as one can easily adapt; but if you do have lots of luggage you should let the hotel know.

The location is just perfect. 10-15 min of everything by subway! And we can walk 10 min to go to DDP. The personnel are really nice and talk English. They will help if you need something

The rooms are a bit small and no where to put our clothes. The closet has only 5 hangers. You can ask for more but they won't give you much more. I think this hotel is really good for short stays but if you want to stay for more than 2 weeks maybe it is better to take something more spacious. (ps: breakfast not recommended)

Location was definitely one of the plus points of this property. Dongdaemun Design Plaza was just 10-minutes walk away and subway station was just right in front of the property. Relatively close by to touristy areas such as Gangnam and Myeongdong. Travelling to Gangnam/Myeongdong by taxi was relatively cheap at about 10,000₩. Concierge staff were able to converse in English so if you need any help, communication is no issue. Special thanks to Woorim for going out of her way all the time to render assistance.

Rooms were a little small and cramped so packing might be a little harder. But all in all, no complaints.

The room wasn't very big but it was enough for me and my friend. The staff was very nice and helpful. It was very close to DDP and many metro stations, which made going around the city very easy.

There was a bit of an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom, which we felt everyday as we entered the room. We got used to it after while, but it's downside I feel I should point out. I don't know about the other rooms, but expect that this might also happen in yours.

Excellent location, really close to the subway station and across the street from the airport bus. Staff were friendly and courteous. Right in the heart of Seoul so a short walk and/or subway ride from shops, sightseeing and food. Convenience stores nearby. Room was compact but generally had everything you’d need. Wi-Fi was (very) fast.

Room was on the small side although I expected this. It was a shame there wasn’t a bigger desk / working area and a chair rather than just a stool.

The ladies at the front desk were very helpful in making check-in go smoothly. We were able to switch between English and Korean well enough to make sure I had all of my questions answered. The bed was probably my favorite part of my stay: very clean, well made, and extremely comfortable. Great location for those who enjoy shopping around the Dongdaemun area.

There was an odd smell that would keep reappearing every time I walked into the room after some time out in town. Nothing too bad, just a little unpleasant. Either it would go away or I would get used to it pretty quickly, though.

Great location! And if you're lucky you can get a great view of the city. We were staying for 7 nights and didn't want to face a wall so we asked to get a better (more open) view. Staff was very nice and put us into the "starry room" which has got a great view. Room was still small but everything is there and the bed was comfy.

Room could be a bit cleaner. We asked for a cleaning but didn't see much of a difference. It's ok, not great.

Location: Near enough to Dongdaemun shopping area. Eulijro 4 Station (Line 2 - Blue) just by the hotel. Visit the fruit stall besides the hotel (sweet big grapes). Late night eating place about 10 mins walk away. Staff: Speak good English. Helpful and responsive.

Room: A bit small. Will have challenge accommodating big luggage. Cleanliness: Not the best. But acceptable for me.
