Hotel Riu Papayas - All Inclusive

Great facilities, food and drinks good. Clean and comfortable

The female security guard on the gate was really rude to us when we checked in. I showed her our reservation to go inside. Someone on reception told us that as we were early we could go by the pool and offered us a towel. We popped out for a walk and back in and when we returned to the pool she shouted at us across the pool and insisted that we go back to reception. She had already seen our reservation. It was really embarrassing and the worst welcome I have ever had at a hotel. she would not listen and was very abrupt. someone at reception should have taken control and apologised. The security guard needs sone customer service training

* for the first time booked all inclusive hotel it seems all no need to worry what we would eat and drinks as all unlimited for our 12 days vacation. * Big swimming pool with a lot of sun-beds even many people very early in the morning putting their towels already. * Pity that they don’t give us staying 2 more nights as we already stay 11 nights … fully booked as at when we checked out plenty rooms are available but very happy as we booked another RIU Palace ( more expensive RIU Palmares and it turn a lot better ( food more tasty, location 5 minutes walk to the beach, the garden just like in Asia, more quite en relaxing, 2 big swimming pool and 1 children pool… everything we like it so much ). * the bed is very comfortable.

* the room is noisy as we can hear people talk in the corridor, or even flashing the toilet, we can hear almost everything in the room.

Excellent hotel one of the few I have visited that I would visit again, Very clean, the staff are lovely and were great with my little girl, The children's entertainer's at night were excellent and versed in multiple languages as to include everyone, I was very impressed! The all inclusive drinks were excellent they actually provided name brand drinks and snacks things you wouldn't expect like prosecco, Amaretto, and all the cocktails were all included in the all inclusive and were as good as if you bought them at a bar, a 24 hour bar to take advantage of also which was Excellent!

Room could have been a tad larger although well furnished and clean.

Plenty of food all day long, this was the same for alcohol and soft drinks (available 24 hours). The hotel was fully booked and we never had to wait any length of time for a drink at the bar or food in the restaurant. We asked if we could keep our room on, as we had late flight, but due to it being full, they could not accommodate this - but we still could use all the hotel facilities, including the bars and restaurants - a shower room with towels was available too. Also, pumps located in various locations for beer, wine, coffee, and variety of soft drinks included in the price available 24 hours. Not really a sunbed person, but when scanning around the pool area, there always were free beds.

Amazing food every time! The staff was super polite, friendly and helpful. Fun activities every day like archery or workout in the pool. Walking distance from Yumbo shopping center and the Ingles beach. A lot of measures for covid 19 and strict with it: they take your temperature every time you go for food or enter the hotel; you have to wear face masks in all public spaces, you need to present the (max 72h) negative result of a covid test; disinfectants everywhere, disinfecting everything everyday, amazing!

It is difficult to work remotely from here, there are no desks in the room. Also there are limited or no electricity plugs around the common areas (to keep the computer charged while working outside). Also the gym is missing free weights like dumbells or bands.

A little disappointed that the hotel next door was being used to house refugees ( and we had no prior notice about this from the hotel) we felt quite uncomfortable entering and leaving the hotel as large groups of them loitering around outside often consuming alcohol brought from the local supermarket. For this reason We wouldn’t stay again ☹️

Food was amazing. Great selection every day and always a good variety. Staff were all smiling and so friendly. Spotlessly clean. Room cleaned to a high standard every day. Pool area was clean. Never a problem with getting sun beds - even though there was 5 of us.

Tiny gripe. No chair or plug socket near the mirror in the room. If someone using shower the mirror in the bathroom would steam up meaning you couldn't use that socket because you couldn't see. Tiny tiny gripe!

Really nice staff! comfortable bedroom and very clean also. If you were in Riu hotels you get the best food experience.

Not too good drinks, but dont care because there was one night stay.

amazing staff, checked in very early which was perfect, also has a shower and luggage room on day of departure and you keep the all inclusive band all day. staff were very helpful. great selection of food and drinks, this hotel is just about perfect for a short week or so in the sun. Chinese a la carte restaurant is 10/10

beds could have been more comfortable, only a sheet provided rather than a comfortable duvet (albeit this is the norm in Spain). staff should remove towels from Sun loungers at the pool, very difficult to get a good spot unless you’re up at 7.30am to snag a bed

the rooms were really nice and big with a lovely balcony and fridge. shower extremely powerful and roomy - easily fits 3 people in if you wanted!! we thought the food variation was good as one could get bored by it. the salad was lovely each day. nice paella as well and pasta options. each day there was a snack option too mid afternoon. you could literally eat yourself into a frenzy. the restaurants were only limited to one visit each in a week and required 3 days’ notice. the steak in the Spanish restaurant was very juicy and tender. the creamy mash was good. it is nearby the beach (about 1 km), Playa Del Ingles. this had some lovely and peaceful parts but a little tacky in others.

the only qualm we had was the noise as they had constant entertainment, whether in the form of water aerobics during the day or loud stage performances or karaoke until sometimes gone mid night every day. it was very audible given the shape of the hotel as everyone overlooked that and the sound seemed to funnel up the whole complex!
