Hotel Casa del Marqués

Beautiful 15c building at the very heart of Santillana. Lovely staff who were excellent. Secure parking at the rear. Large room with a comfortable bed and large and perfect bathroom. Public areas are quiet and beautifully furnished with antique items. Perfect first or last night if using the ferry at Santander.

Unfortunately the air conditioning in our room didn't work properly and the small window meant it was difficult to get adequate ventilation..This issue wouldn't affect all the rooms though. Lighting could be improved in the room. The breakfast area is small which creates restrictions on timing and choices.

This is a beautiful hotel set right in the heart of Santillana del Mar . The little patio garden where we had breakfast was just idyllic . The staff were lovely and friendly . The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with lots of attention to detail .

The shower could certainly be improved . It was difficult to use as I think the shower head fitting was slighty broken so kept falling down . Creaky floor boards and noisy next door but it’s such an old property that can’t be helped .

Our room was amazing, with a balcony in the centre of the hotel facing the garden away from the noise of the streets. The whole hotel is decorated in an exotic style and our bedroom was much the same, the largest and most comfortable bed we have every experienced! The staff are so helpful, they will give you recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing and the bar/breakfast staff are absolutely charming. We loved the g&t selection and the breakfast buffet, no restaurant for dinner but plenty of choice around and about. We were pleased to find the parking as the streets are very narrow, you have to pull up outside the front so that they can direct you to their parking at the back of the hotel, you can check in after this. Santillana is a fabulous stop off before or after the ferry (less than an hour away from the port of Santander) and its cobbled streets and medieval buildings will not disappoint. We can thoroughly recommend this historic town and hotel with its many sitting spaces and gentle ambience, you will feel well looked after and well rested after a night here.

Fantastic location and have a car park. Easy reach for restaurants and shops etc. Do not serve dinner but do a very nice breakfast albeit a little pricey i think. Room and bed were fantastic and decor is wonderful. Staff very helpful, we tried hard with our Spanish although they spoke very good English and we were grateful! Easy to park, just really nice and we will definitely go back!

Not the cheapest but you get good value for money. Balcony rooms felt worth the price - early morning sunshine was lovely. Good bar with reasonably priced drinks. Eat at the Grand Duke in the street behind - opens at 8pm and serves fantatstic food!

This is a most fabulous testament to the owners impeccable sense of style and comfort. A beautiful renovation of an ancient Casa into a welcoming home. Every doorway, window, nook and room, garden and terrace, afforded vignettes of traditional conserved building, dressed with such charm and taste. We couldn’t stop ourselves, literally stop ourselves, from being stunned. It was an honour to be allowed into this Casa. Thank you. Great staff as well.

There is nothing to dislike about this property. Oh, I couldn’t use the beautiful staircases because I need a handrail. But there should not be handrails on those traditional staircases, anyway. So nothing to complain about!

Beautiful 500 year old building and in a stunning location. the customer service is exceptional and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. We didn’t get breakfast but it did look nice as we walked through. they have lots of gins all on an outside bar, and the fire inside was on when we stayed (April), lovely!

It is an old building in an old village - expect noises if you’re a light sleeper like me - take some earplugs (it’s not about the hotel itself - the church bells ring early, it’s a rural town so you can hear a cockerel in the morning, the streets are cobbled so you can hear trolleys etc over them. my husband was fine with it all but I woke up a few times.

Lovely welcome to this beautiful historic building. Wonderful staff both friendly and attentive. Lovely quiet spaces both inside and in the back garden. Excellent secure parking on the grounds. Unfortunately our room was on the other side of the house overlooking a busy pedestrian street with bars and restaurants, so it was inevitably noisy. Great breakfast , beautifully served.

Warm welcome and hotel staff are excellent. Lovely hotel with bags of character. Great sized rooms and we had a fabulous balcony. Gardens are superb and great for getting out of the heat. Nice bar and small breakfast room with plenty of options and superb personal service. Good secure parking area, although we used public parking as we were a bit confused about entry to hotel car park.

The building itself is full of history but immaculately brought up to date. The small rear garden area had really beautiful areas to relax and have a drink. Unfortunately we could not make use of this due to the weather. The breakfast was one of the best we have encountered, with something for every taste. Having its own private and secure parking is a major benefit ( especially in a historic town like this. ) and is why I chose this hotel. Friendly, helpful and courteous staff are always a hotel’s greatest asset.

There was nothing that I did not like. A discrete, intimate restaurant would have been but I fully understand why they don’t have one.

This hotel was a Marquis' residence. Need I say more? It is a 16th century home (with only 15 rooms) and fabulous renovations. Very delightful, luscious and somewhat quirky furnishings. It is really very magical and the staff is fabulous. It was the highlight of our stay and the surrounding region is gorgeous.

The only issue was the noise on the street, restaurants closing up and cleaning, and trash collection on Mondays. Otherwise, perfection.
