El Mouradi Hotel Africa Tunis

Booked the hotel just before we arrived, we did pay for a better room but the reception gave us a lower quality room, upon checking they quickly rectified the issue. The room was probably one of the biggest I've stayed at for the price that we paid. We did not take the extra buffet breakfast that was offered at 10 euros per head. Check-in and checkout were quick and swift. The entrance to the hotel was very grandeur, a bit like the Savoy and we loved the difference. The reception hall was busy with people which is always nice to see. The hotel is a little outdated but the price and size make up for this. Basic toiletries were available and the wifi and air con worked well. The lifts were super quick. The beds were comfy and had keycard entry. Tip: Go for the superior room for a few pounds more, it is well worth it

The sink tap was broken but usable, we did not bother to report this as I managed to repair this myself. Only 1 bathrobe for a room with 2 occupancy. The fridge was unplugged and we could not find a way to plug this in. Some mould in the bathroom which should be addressed if this is classed as a 5 star hotel.

The staff, polite cleaning staff, big airy room, extremely comfortable. A workable en suite safe with instructions on several languages. The hotel offers breakfast-in-bed but I chose to eat outside on the street side cafes: much more fur much less.

The shower is in the bathtub with no security features to limit slipping. The shower hot water fluctuates from hot to cold back to hot for no apparent reason within a matter of seconds. The antiquated air conditioning didn’t seem to work properly which meant that I had to keep the window open all day and night which allowed mosquitoes to enter (even on the 11th floor). They offer room service from a comprehensive menu but they never seem to have what you want. The fine dining restaurant was closed the Friday evening I chose to eat there. You can only eat at a buffet so many times.

The room was clean and in perfect condition.

We waited some time for the elevators as there was a lot of persons waiting and only one or two elevators are actually working.

Location is right in the heart of Tunis, close to all amenities, Professional staff always willing to help. Must also highlight the gentlemen at the door, at one occasion I was coming from across the road with a heavy box it was within seconds that the gentlemen noticed me from far away struggling with the box and came to assist with the box and carried it for me all the way to the room. Front office agents, Food & Beverage service staff, Housekeeping, Laundry all been great. Breakfast was good. Met a couple of occasions with the General Manager of the Hotel and he made it a point to sit with me and ask how my stay was. Could have not asked for more. Service of the hotel and the cleanliness was impeccable

The hotel is old and tiered and deserves a renovation along with upgradation of systems such as elevators, AC, WIFI etc these seems to have been a reoccurring issue of certain breakdowns of systems during my 4 days stay, However I must admit that rectification of breakdowns did not take long to be maintained and back in action. The rooms are large with most of them views of the city, The hotel has so much potential taking into consideration the level of service they provide should it be renovated. To much traffic to get to the hotel due to closure of the main road in front of the hotel, access to the hotel was only possible from the other side of the road which cumulated traffic.

Excellent location. With Booking.com you can get good deals.

There was no stationery, slippers, or laundry bag, but I am sure I could have asked for them, but I only stayed for one night.

Receptionists are very helpful and care about us every moments are asking for anything we need, Fedi and kais are very friendly with our staying time, and person rooms service staff Wadha his hospitality is excellent, we will staying this hotel again when we will be back, Thanks for all staff in hotel M Ali Uk

What a fantastic way to start our time in Tunisia. Location couldn’t be better. The staff are so friendly and helpful. They assisted us with taxis, currency exchange, transport to Hammamet etc. Great facilities and a nice lobby bar with lovely staff. Can’t wait to return!

Just a big, old fashioned hotel in every way, very comfortable and a nostalgic feel about the place. Very nice and helpful staff in all positions, especially at the lobby bar. My room was large and gave me a great view over the city, as it is in a prime location on A. Habib Bourghiba. Bed was comfortable and the shower exceptional. I´m very happy to stay again on my next visit to Tunis.

I think now is the time to upgrade some of the furniture.
