Hotel Rubens-Grote Markt

Very nice hotel, big room, great shower, the bed was very comfortable, and the view was amazing. And the guy at the reception was so kind to me I arrived late and managed to enjoy myself a little. Next time I will take at least two days Great breakfast

The Rubens location is superb and, as it's a small hotel, you don't get the rampaging tour groups that swipe all the breakfasts. We've visited many times over the years and it's been great to see it develop from somewhat tatty to now top of the range.

The incredibly slow lift, although this seems to be a Belgian thing. Some attention needs to be given to the trees at the back as they spoil what used to be a nice are and block the view from the rooms.

Room was big and clean except the floor was hard floor and quite dusty. Breakfast was quite good, with a decent choice of food. The location on the other hand is the best feature of this hotel. The main attractions are in walking distance with excellent restaurants and bars nearby.

The room was looking at the street and the windows did a poor job of insulation the outside noise. The toilet was separate from bathroom which will not be an issue if a small washing basin will be placed there.

Very comfortable beds, nice and quiet despite being close to the centre, amazing breakfast and super friendly staff who spent hours fixing the door card reader and then gave us a free drink for having kept us waiting (we didn't mind at all so went for water instead of alcohol - I think the lady/receptionist deserved the drink herself as she was alone in the hotel)

The hotel is in the absolute centre of the city. You can walk everywhere in a few minutes and there is a city bike station a short walk from the hotel, so even the more distant points of interest can be easily reached. The hotel is clean, beautifully furnished and the staff is very helpful. Parking in the garage is 3 minutes from the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel is great. Definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who would like a little extra comfort when traveling.

Very tastefully furnitured and unique room. Our room was facing towards a very nice backyard garden with a view on baroque/classical facades and walls. Really outstanding. Hotel staff (receptionists) were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Great experience.

Car parking is difficult, due to the location in the historical old town. Not a downside- but good to know in order to manage expectations.

The room was large and pleasantly decorated. The breakfast, which was served in a light and airy room overlooking a garden, provided a broad range of choices. During our stay, the two front desk clerks were very helpful. When we checked in, the front desk clerk recommended a local restaurant that we tried and loved. On our departure, the front desk clerk provided directions to our cruise ship and arranged a taxi to take us to the ship. Overall, our stay was smooth and relaxing. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Rubens again.

Nothing! Everything was better than expected.

The location of the hotel is perfect to be able to base yourself and explore Antwerp. 5-10 minutes walk to most key sites in the city. Close proximity to a number of restaurants, supermarkets and the river. The hotel implemented effective COVID-19 measures, which meant we felt comfortable during our stay. Overall the property was very clean. The size of the room was good for a short stay, and included tea/coffee station and mini bar fridge. Reception staff were really friendly and helpful throughout our stay. In addition, there was limited bottled water available upon arrival in the reception area. Overall, we would consider staying at Hotel Rubens-Grote Markt again and can recommend it to others for a short stay. And a hot tip for dining close by - definitely book (early, as it is often booked out) to eat at Barbarella, minutes walk form the hotel, but delicious food and amazing service.

The breakfast offering was good without being extensive and great (like we experienced at other hotels in Belgium). Whilst there were space limitations and booking times required for breakfast because of the COVID-19 principles being implemented, on busier sittings, there was often poor replenishment of multiple breakfast items, so that is an area that could be improved. Street noise was reasonably high, and the rooms could benefit from double-glazing. Also internal floor noise was high, and the door for our room was like in a vacuum, banging each time another room on our floor opened/closed doors.

Lovely breakfast and really friendly staff. great choice of food. Hotel organised easy parking for us although having missed a turning in the one way system it turned out to be a nightmare. Brilliant location for anyone wanting to walk around the centre.
