Staybridge Suites Hamilton - Downtown, an IHG Hotel

Staff was exceptional from the people at the reception desk when I checked in and out, to the kitchen staff, to the house keeping. They were all just lovely, friendly and welcoming people. Special thank you to all the kitchen staff especially Sarah and Melissa. They were always at hand to give advice about places to go.

The place was clean, tidy and a great location. We were able to get from Hamilton to many parts of Ontario using the bus service and trains. Getting back was even better because most buses stopped a stone throw away from the suite. Downfall was on our first night we witnessed a death near the hotel and the following week a shooting which was frightening. Homelessness was a real issue near the Suite.

Booking.com advertised as two beds but when I got there I got one queen size bed and a lumpy sofa bed. Fortunately the manager on site upgraded us to a king size bed without extra charge. Excellent customer service from Staybridge. Room was clean, spacious, and had a kitchen with full size fridge. Bed was comfortable and so were the pillows and duvet. Buffet breakfast was very good. Parking in the lower level was secured due to garage door, as opposed to outdoor parking.

$12.50 per day parking was not on the booking.com website. Sofa bed was lumpy due to the springs in the mattress...not for an adult. For a young child, it may be okay. Water pressure in shower was not sufficient. Wifi was generally good but unstable at times. The lighting in the room was not sufficient as one of the lights besides the bed didn't work.

Comfortable and spacious accomodation. Pleasant staff. Light dinner on weekedays is a plus.

Location in central downtown with lot of homeless people activity around. Felt a bit scary walking in and out of the building in evenings. Otherwise the building itself is well secured. No housekeeping on the weekends which was not a huge concern for us. Noise Air Conditioner in one room. But again not a major concern for us.

The breakfast is quite abundant with bread, milk, coffee, and fruit. However, it seems that there is no bacon, which I love to eat. The breakfast time is also quite suitable, and the environment is very pleasant.

It would be even better to include some noodles in the breakfast options. Suggettion: Adding noodles to breakfast can provide variety and a different flavor profile. Some popular breakfast noodle dishes from different cuisines include Asian-style noodle soups or stir-fried noodles with vegetables and protein.

The front desk staff were very friendly and the check in was seamless. The rooms are very clean. We booked into a 2 bedroom suite that was perfect for our family. The complimentary buffet breakfast was by far the best we have had at any hotel. Parking was underground and easily accessible to the main lobby. The Hotel was a short walk to the Restaurant and the Venue we were attending, so no need for additional parking. The 12:00 check out allowed us to take our time with breakfast and spend a little more time in the pool with the little one.

Good elevators.

As a plumbing contractor, I notice the small detail. The screw in the shower faucet is sticking out from the face plate, this will eventually come out farther and the shower handle will not move, also it lets water into the wall. The chrome escutchion on the grab bar in the shower has fallen off the top location and slide to the bottom, leaving the top part sharp and some one may cut themselves on this part. Easy fixes if done now before it gets worse.

The staff is very friendly and helpful at this location. Rooms are clean and well kept, with a small kitchenette if you want to make food for longer stays. There is a pool and gym on site, despite the size it can accommodate a quick workout. The parking is secure so your car feels safer.

The hotel and staff are excellent and the thing I did not like is the location around the hotel. This is not the fault of this business so I would not hold it against them.

The free breakfast was wonderful, the space in the hotel was beautifully appointed. The room was clean and organized, with all sorts of nice amenities.

I was charged more than I was quoted with no breakdown of where my extra costs were incurred. All of my booking receipts show the quoted price! I was disappointed to find the pool was closed. The breakfast and 'dinner' social started early and ended earlier than I normally would eat. There were no instructions for various devices in the room ( ice machine, tv, jacuzzi tub). Also, there are no USB ports in the room for charging devices although there are several regular plugs

Location for us was great as it was walking distance from the first Ontario center. Clean facilities, large room, indoor parking on site, nice breakfast spread.

Seemed to be in a sketchy area, I found it cheap that they charge you $12.50 to park when you have paid $230 for the night and there is a definite lack of sound proofing as we got woken up during the night by other guests.

The room was comfortable and parking was easy.

After the 3rd day the breakfast was a bit monotonous. It would be nice to have a choice of eggs.
