Newhotel of Marseille - Vieux Port

Our room (best category) was very nicely decorated, had a big balcony and a good view. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom very good. I loved the L'Occitane shower gel etc. especially. The breakfast is great (apart from the tea facilities, see below), and the staff are helpful and polite. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, which is great. The location is good for the old town, and the beach is only 5 minutes walk away.

It is a noisy area, and despite the fact that "sound proofing" is indicated in the description, there was a lot of traffic noise through the closed balcony doors, but also quite a bit of noise from inside the hotel - the doors are of the kind that you cannot avoid banging when you want to close them, and with loud neighbors, you are not getting a good night's sleep. Also, in almost every other hotel I have been to, there are no hooks to hang things up on. There is a pool but where do you put your wet things? A clothes rack and some hooks on the doors would have helped. Also, no reading lights next to the beds. The various lamps are very tasteful but not particularly functional if you want to read.

Good location for beach and supermarket, cafes. Port felt further away than I thought it would because you had to walk up hill at end of the day. Hotel is really cool, great art, set up in a nice stylish way, pool deck nice, and restaurant had great food too

Small comment, the room had no soap until last day, only shampoo to wash hands etc. Room cleaning was weird times too ..they walked into our room one day at 9.30am when getting dressed and at 3pm another day when we thought they'd be finished.

Great location within easy walk of the vieux port and easy taxi ride from either the airport or train station. Reception staff were great and managed to get us a taxi on day of departure back to the train station when there was a huge problem with taxi availability that day.

Nothing really but if I had to think of something… Breakfast was very good but it would have been nice to have a slightly better tea and egg selection. The pool was unfortunately too cold for me to be able to enjoy it when we visited

The hotel is stylish and has a good Lebanese restaurant. The car park adjacent to the hotel is very easily accessed - step-free, making it easy to roll luggage. The rooms are comfortable and airy. The staff was competent. The walk to the Vieux Port from the hotel is pleasant.

A separate bath and shower. Or rooms that offer either bath or shower to give the guest choice when making a booking. We were there in the Winter which meant there were few open restaurants in the immediate vicinity, but we were directed to a row of restaurants and bars/cafes a 5-minute walk away.

Great hotel! Nice rooms, good location for a conference at the Vieux Port and for access to nearby food. They did not have a full service restaurant at the time I was there, which was actually perfect - they had a small menu of high-quality items + drinks in a very casual but comfortable setting so I could just read a novel while having dinner without feeling out of place. Breakfast was amazing also.

Loved the pool area and bar. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was nice and clean. We were leaving quite late in the evening and left our bags in the storage room after we checked out. We were also allowed to stay around the pool area too which was a huge positive. Lots of sun loungers and the pool gets the sun all day which is great. Not much to complain about really.

Hairdryer wasn’t great in the room and the iron we were given wasn’t the best either. Apart from that everything was great.

Ample room, good quality linen and towels, very pleasant pool area where breakfast and lunch are served. Very good restaurant at reasonable prices. Excellent breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Best location in Marseille. Walking distance to trendy beach and to the Old Port area and to a beautiful park.

Parking is rather expensive (even after a prearranged discount) at the Private Parking next to the hotel. Nearby unsheltered parking is hard to find.

Clean modern hotel with (almost) all 4**** amenities, including a swimming pool. Spacious terrace of my (superior) room.

When I arrived at about 15:15 the lady at the reception said that my room wasn't prepared yet. When I replied that check-in was set from 15:00 she said that this was meant as "from" but could also be later, and that she didn't know when the room would be actually available. However, 10 minutes later it was ready, and absolutely clean. In the room was a minibar refrigerator, however without content.

I had mentioned that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary during the booking process and asked for a room with a pleasant view.We stayed in a superior room with terrace and the views of the old port were fantastic.We were also given two complimentary cocktails as a gesture from the hotel.The staff were really friendly m the room was large and spotless and the pool area was excellent with plenty of very comfortable sun loungers .The pool itself was regularly cleaned and was spotless.The outdoor terrace beside the pool was lovely with plenty of comfortable seating .All areas of the hotel were spotless.

I couldn’t find fault with anything.

The suite with terrace was very comfortable, very quite and lovely. The location is very good, close to the port area. The hotel interior as well as the entry building are beautiful. Very nice music in the bistro.

- little more diversity of breakfast would be nice - very close to the main and highly active road - noise at the pool and on the terrace - poor WiFi
