We stopped here for just one night on the way to the Calais-Dover ferry, mainly because we had never been to the city. Au 33 chambres d'hôtes is a real find! An owner-managed, small renovated guest house in the middle of St. Omer and thus centrally located to the food and shopping streets. The house is a historic city house beautifully decorated with antiques by the owners, and the many individual pieces are a joy to discover. The bed was very comfy, and the shower was excellent. The breakfast was lovingly prepared by the host; one of the best and most varied Continental breakfasts I have enjoyed in France. The guest house is also well located to exploring the town which has many beautiful old houses, as well as an interesting museum and park featuring the local Marais agriculture (complete with windmill). Recommended!

Only small issues, really. In our room the toilet and shower were only separated with a curtain from the bedroom, which may be important to know when you are sharing a room. The stairs are somewhat steep, but of course this contributes to the charm. Outside though (and this in no way reflects on the guest house), there is some major renovation going on in the whole town quarter, with many shops and buildings empty and a lot of construction: no noise issues, but the quarter felt a bit unsafe in the evening. Our car could be parked for free on a large market square nearby, but we were a bit unsure whether it would be safe to park there overnight (it was). All in all, minor issues that on balance did not impact our stay.

The proprietor was charming and attentive. The house was an elegant period house which was architecturally interesting and with lots of objets'd'arte that embraced cultures (and humour!) The host had made great efforts to provide a breakfast that was 'fresh' - freshly bought croissants and baguette, freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly made coffee. The conserve was home-made. Despite being very close to the centre of St Omer, our stay was quiet (it was a Sunday evening) and we had a good night's sleep on comfortable beds.

This Chambres d' Hote has been lovingly restored and is full of interesting objet d'art. We were made to feel very welcome. The following morning we enjoyed a wide selection of lovely homemade breads and jams. Delicious. Situated on a corner of a street, just off the main square in St Omer, this place is very convenient for walking to the local eateries. We parked our car in a public car park.

Quite noisy compactor toilet- could hear both our toilet and another room's.

our host was extremely friendly polite and helpful in recommending a restaurant. he offered us tea on our arrival which was very welcome. the facilities were excellent, a lovely rustic bed and breakfast. the bed was clean and comfortable and the shower really good. the host’s homemade cake was delicious and the breakfast very good. we will certainly stay here again if travelling through France .

a hairdryer would have been very welcome but this is only a minor issue.

Charming historic building in the center of St. Omer. We were welcomed by Hervé and received from him several suggestions for the evening meal. Next morning the host served French breakfast with the fresh croissants and baguettes and home made jam. We had very nice conversation with the host during the breakfast. The house is centrally located and full of art. It was a perfect choice for our family.

Hervé was a charming helpful bi-lingual host . Breakfast was excellent . There are stairs ( no lift ) but our room in this 200 year old property was comfortable and spacious with a good shower . 2 minutes walk from the centre, with on-street parking close by, it was an excellent stopover which we will use again.

We would have preferred a door rather than a curtain for the shower/ toilet area.

Absolutely fabulous. Period building renovated to an exceptional standard. Full of artworks ,antiques plus modern pieces that really show the eclectic vibe. Homemade marmalade and lemon cake at breakfast. .Terrace at the back. About 150 yards from the town square. Love it love it .

Nothing. Just a pity that the corner shop isn't in use. Spoils the view from outside a bit. Just a mere quibble.

Excellent location a minute from the main square, with free parking just around the corner. Charming, historic and comfortable house lovingly decorated with interesting art by its owners. Hervé was so helpful with restaurant bookings and local recommendations, let us store our luggage at the house on our last day. Great homemade breakfast spread. Delightful!

Nothing.

Very friendly host, offers coffee and a chat upon arrival! It is a beautiful old home with well maintained and very spacious rooms. Très bien!

Nothing really, I can only think of there being no parking at the property, though the first parking Lot was 2 minutes away, so still not an issue.

The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was very good with some homemade things and a lot of attention to detail. The place was unique with the decor and artwork.

No door to the bathroom, just a curtain. Not a deal breaker but some people may prefer a bit more privacy.
