A&O Hamburg Hauptbahnhof

I liked it a lot that the bathroom and the toilet were in the same room as I was staying. They had necessary bathing facilities, and the bathroom itself was quite nice and clean. Also, bathroom and toilet were separate. I also was lucky enough to stay in a 5-bed room with only two people staying (including me).

There were lots of teenagers who were very loud after 9 pm. I’m not being grumpy, but after a tiring day it’s not what I would like to hear. Also, my neighbor was a bit strange and always taking on the phone with a speaker instead of doing it outside the room, but it’s not the hostel’s fault. Inside the room, the desk was too small and shaky to work on it, and there were no chairs to sit on, only puffs, but they are not comfortable to sit for a long time. I also had to put the sheets on myself, in the hostels where I’ve been before it’s usually done by the staff. The location is close to the train/bus station, but it was a bit scary to walk alone to get to the hostel at 9 pm.

The Staffs weren't really chatty but they were really nice and helpful. I don't have anything to complain about their behaviors . It was a nice stay and experience. I am a girl and I had three boys as roommate. At first I was really worried but then I am glad because I could make some friends. They were really friendly, helpful and above all reliable and respectful. To top that off, they were real gentlemen.

I wish I had a proper locker in my room. I was just given a closet where I could put my luggages but there wasn't any locker on it. I suppose it s fine because I am in Germany but still, you are sharing your room with foreigners so you may never know if they are trustworthy.

The staff at the front desk was really helpful when checking in. They gave me all I needed for the stay, and some directions and special advice for traveling to my destination. They were kind and interested in me, something I did not expect from such a large place. There are some facilities in and around the a&o, I just used the lockers, the breakfast, and the pizza place which was a 50 meter walk. It's really nice that you can check in any time. Perfect for me.

I really dont't think I can complain about the stay for the price I paid. (16 euros for a shared dorm) The breakfast was 9.75 euro though, which made me a bit less happy. It was a decent breakfast. This place may not have all the comforts and facilities of a normal hotel, but if you just need a place to sleep it's totally sufficient.

I stayed here for 4 days and the guy who was working at the reception was extremely friendly and helpful. His name was Dren, he assisted me with all me requests very professionally and made my stay as good as possible. I couldn’t thank him personally at the end of my stay so I want to thank him for his assistance by leaving a good review. Thanks to the employees like him I will chose A&O Hostels for my next vacations. Good service, good facilities and totally would recommend this place :)

Could be a bit more central.

Has a real bathroom, not just a random cubicle. Enough clean towels. Enough space to charge all devices in the shared rooms. Provides hygiene products such as shampoo and liquid soap. Provides clean sheets and covers. Easy to find location, although I would suggest to search the name of the hostel and not the address thats provided, because the location is not correct. There are buss stops near the building. Inside the rooms there are small lockers(keep in mind you need to deposit 5€ and they don't accept card for that). In the hostel there are bigger lockers on the first floor, 4€ for 24h. Again, no card, need to have coins. Staff were helpful. There is a cute popcorn machine on the first floor :'D.

No AC in the room, if it's too hot you need to open the windows fully and there is a very real danger of falling down.

The hotel was clean, close enough to the Main train station and was really cost effective. Check in was no problem/ quick and facilities were clean from lobby to our rooms. Both family rooms were clean and well ventilated. Heater, Shower, lights and sockets also worked without any issues.

Although it’s listed as really close to the main central station it’s still a 10 minute walk. Elevators are old, noisy and super tiny (you feel like they’re one or two rides from turning into the tower of terror ride). Although we booked a family room for four only two beds were made and we had to make the other two ourselves. One of the family rooms was direct on the main corridor and at night the other guests were quite noisy slamming their doors and shouting in the hall, so soundproof could be better. Still for the price one expects it not to be perfect, although I’d still definitely recommend and stay again albeit it’s only great for a quick one Max two night stay.

it was clean, new, there was a ‘no disturb’ sign, so the cleaning staff won’t clean in your room, also thick curtains. there is a quiet area with a long table and sockets, in case you officing, toys for children stuff is 10/10. Huge thanks for being so professional to (sorry for spelling mistakes) Tomas, Eugeniia, Flemming. It was a pleasure to have conversations with you guys. They are always ready-to-help and motivated. I will definitely stay in a&o more, thanks to you guys and a&o Berlin headquarter

the social area is a bit small and do not facilitate people to interact. it is understandable, since a&o hostel chain is a hotel-type of hostel. still, if you’re sociable, you can always chit-chat with staff or other guests

The location is very close to the Hbf and the beds and bathroom were comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful at any time of the day.

Saturday night was expensive while Sunday night was half the money. We booked a mixed dorm which felt a little uncomfortable as we were the only two women. These are mostly on us when we booked. Just to keep in mind when anyone books.

I liked that our room held all 4 of us comfortably! The staff were very kind and helpful and the cleaners too were very sweet to talk to. The actual spaciousness of the hostel is amazing and I loved that you could store luggage prior to check in and after check outs - it was so convenient. Accessibility to the guest kitchen and the downstairs bathroom was great too so we could fill water bottles or use the bathroom whilst waiting in the lobby.

The bunk beds in the family room weren't made up so we had to put on the sheets and the bedding which was slightly difficult considering the bottom bunk had a barrier by the headboard which made it hard to gain access to the mattress corners. Also, the curtains were broken slightly and hanging from the rails - we could've asked to be fixed but honestly we were too tired at the end of the day and couldnt be bothered to ask. Also our key cards refused to work randomly after one night but we got them replaced happily by staff so that was fine in the end!
