Best Western Plus Hotel St. Raphael

Hotel is located very conveniently very close to the central railway station of Hamburg within 10 minutes walking. The area is full of shops and restaurants. Hotel is located in the old building, but renovated and up to all modern standards. Rooms are rather small but ok for night stay as we were out most of the time. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Excellent breakfast with hot meals, good selection of cold cuts, tea and coffee, etc. We stayed in a Standard Double room, it was clean with A/C, electric kettle, TV, etc. Bed was not very big, but comfortable; bathroom was a bit small but with all toiletries.

Pay attention to the area as it might get noisy and dodgy in the night. It is natural due to the location but take into account when planning your stay.

I had very comfortable room, very clean, good view on the big green tree (platanus).There are plenty of squirrels running and jumping there. Breakfast variable enough, excellent selection of different kinds of teas.Location is also convenient, walking distance to the main railway station, where are many of lines of city metro as well as hop on hop off busses. City centre in walking distance as well, after passing railway station. S1 line goes to airport about 25 minutes. Hotel staff are very polite and helpful. Because of my early check out very good lunch package was prepared.

There was one thing not convenient: WiFi should be restarted every 4 hours. But speed was good enough.

Reception was very good and went very smoothly. The explanation of the car-parking arrangements was excellent. The car-parking was VERY well priced at €10 per 24 hours, the room was very functional and extremely clean with a very good, but small, bathroom. My partner and I are both quite slim. The shower recess might have been a bit of a challenge to those of a slightly more chunky construction but it was very fine for each of us. The breakfast was very good and the practice of asking us when we would like to have breakfast worked very well and regulated the number of people taking breakfast at one time. The location was fantastic because it was a ten minute work from the hotel to the main part of the city and so there was absolutely no need to use the car or even the S Bahn. The service was very cheerful both at Reception and at breakfast which was great, especially for a Sunday morning.

Getting to the hotel by car is a nightmare because of the roadworks which make it next to impossible, even with a a good navi - but the effort is worth it and you will be welcomed into a very decent hotel, reasonably priced and right by the city centre

The breakfast was excellent, the location was within a ten minute’s walk from the station. The staff we dealt with were very polite, professional and helpful. The outlook from our bedroom was over looking a park. It is well located hotel and a very interesting and pleasant walk to the waterfront and old city from the hotel.

Not the Hotel but we arrived by train and the Booking.com walking map from the station to the hotel took us completely the wrong direction. It should be out of the station to the main shopping street, turn left walk along passing the bus station on your right and the hotel is about 100 meter on, on the left.

It was clean and the cleaning personal changed the sheets everyday which wasn't needed to say the truth but they did! Breakfast was also very good with a big variety of salami and cheese which i did not find in other hotels. I used the laptop/ printout service and i had my printout in 1 min ready. My luggage was safely stored in a separate locked room and thus i was rest assured it was safe. The personnel was very friendly and helpful.

The location, although i picked it to be close to the train station because im traveling by train, i did not feel safe to walk outside after 20.00. Good thing there is a bus stop close and U,Sbann but still for someone traveling by himself it is challenging.

The hotel was located close to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof so moving around the city centre by foot was possible, so the location is almost perfect for a few night's stay. The room was also well equipped with all the basic amenities & necessary things you'd expect during a stay at a hotel (complimentary water bottle, shampoo & body wash, clean bath & hand towels etc). Our room was facing towards the hotel's backyard and hence the surroundings on that side were nicely quiet. All in all the room was a comfortable place to spend a few nights at.

Unfortunately the hair dryer did not work properly; it seemed to overheat quite easily and turned off on its own after a few minutes of use. The room was not very spacious, but OK for a couple of nights. Also, although the surroundings were rather quiet, you could hear some noise from under ground whenever a metro was passing by. Furthermore, as the hotel was located quite close to the main bus and railway stations, there were unfortunately many junkies/drunkards in the area in the evening, and this made us feel a little uncomfortable to walk around in the area during later hours.

Very good position near the train station but also a bit out of the the very "busy" controversial area around the Steindamm. The room was big enough, bed comfortable and clean, coffee machine available and a welcome bottle of water in the minibar. All in all a Best Western level structure. We did not have a breakfast, was a bit expensive, so can't tell. Really walking distance from restaurants and the subway.

Having spent only one night we can't blame anything. Breakfast at € 17 is a bit expensive but withing German standards. For Italians who do not eat much in the morning is slightly overpriced

Comfortable room,especially a space with sofa and second tv.Coffee and tea provided complimentary. Good breakfast with good service.

Location is difficult to reach due to road construction and Hamburg ever expanding city planning.The pillows are too soft and are feathered ones,it would have been better to provide memory foam or latex ones.Bathtub is not convenient to shower.Would have preferred a shower cabin.

Very comfortable, cozy, and friendly. It looked from pictures like the hotel might be a little run down, but in reality it just had an old hotel charm which I appreciated. Really comfortable bed. The small bar in the lobby is good also.

Of course, being so close to the central station has pros and cons. I would definitely recommend it for a 1-3 night stay, for a longer stay I would probably pick another area of Hamburg. Breakfast has wide selection, but quality could be improved.

The room was decent, clean with good size bathroom. The hotel is located in the near proximity to the Berlina Tor subway station which is connected to Hamburg airport, so transport to and from the airport was a breeze. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Unfortunately, I had to keep the windows closed at night because of excessive street noise. Once they were closed, the noise was gone. However, the air conditioner was extremely loud and sounded like it was falling apart. That combined made the nights kind of uncomfortable.
