Maki's Place Hotel

As I was last year--during my visit of Makis Place--we were picked up from the Airport of Mykonos thanks to the gratuitous shuttle service, which also provided for our drop-off at the nearby New Port of Mykonos, prior to departing for Santorini. The extremely kind and professional owner couple that is running Makis Place assigned us the perfect room in the main hotel building---near the pool---with a gigantic terrace. Unfortunately we were unable to use some of the wonderful outdoor features of the hotel, due to the often very gusty winds that prevailed during our late September/early October visit of Mykonos this time. The available T.V. programs are catering to the international guests that are staying at the hotel, and this time I could even watch my favorite international news channel (CNN)..... We thoroughly enjoyed the views from room #13---providing perfect privacy on account of being at the very top of the cubiform, multi-room structure---and we also appreciated the fact that there was a REAL breakfast buffet, despite the ongoing hygienic measures that were implemented during the Covid19 pandemic. The breakfast staff provided the breakfast guests with transparent polyethylen gloves, thus enabling all guests of the preferred self-service, while maintaining all of the hygiene standards that were put in place as a response to the Covid19 pandemic. The hotel location in Tourlos does not only provide direct access to the New Port of Mykonos---with ferries coming and going to other Greek islands and to the continental part of Greece---but the Sea Bus stop, to be reached after a 2-minute walk from the hotel entrance, is also providing (for €2/passenger) an easy and frequent connection to the Old Port of Mykonos. And from there, you can walk through the Old Town of Mykonos, with "Little Venice" and the Windmills Hill only a short stroll away...

NOTHING to criticize....

We had a deluxe room with pool view which was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Balcony was a very good size with a good view. Bed was big and comfortable. Shower was the best one we had during our 3 week trip around Greece. Room was cleaned every day, fresh towels provided and bedding changed if requested. Pool area was beautiful and also very clean. Staff were very helpful and informative. Helped bring our bags to our room, sort out atv hire and transfers to the airport for when we left. Breakfast had a good variety and the food in the restaraunt was lovely too. Always served with a smile and some conversation. Sea boat to the town is literally across the road from the hotel so everything is literally at your disposal. Would definitely stay again if I return to Mykonos.

The property was lovely and right by the port with regular access to boats that would take you into the main city. The food was lush with a big menu and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We arranged transport with the hotel to take us to and from the airport for our arrival and departure that was very convenient and helpful. We also asked for advice on how to get to a certain beach and the member of staff gave us great suggestions that made for a lovely day at the beach. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Makis place and would definitely recommend to others!

Nothing, it was great

We had a great time at Makis Place, and we would definitely consider to come back in the future. The hotel organised pick up for our family at the airport. The room was clean and the beds were confortable. The swimming pool were amazing and our kids had their best time. The bar at the restaurant could offer a nice menu for drinks and food. The restaurant at the hotel had a great variety of food, and the staff were super nice. The hotel staff helped us with all our doubts and made our stay great. The sea buss to get to the old town were only 2 minutes away from the hotel. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

The breakfast could have been a bit better, but it was more than ok.

We last stayed here 7 years ago before/after island-hopping, and it felt like ‘coming home’ to be here again in September. The price is a bit higher than we would usually want to pay, but for 2 nights each at the beginning and end of our latest island-hop, having a (refreshing! pool), in this location, makes it worth it, especially when you factor in the complimentary transport on arrival/departure and the inclusion of a good breakfast. There’d been some welcome changes too – a new reception area, pool towels available, and bottles of water in the room now, so even better than we remember. Location near the port, and short walk to Agios Stefanos beach Efficiently organised transport to/from airport or port Welcoming and helpful staff, always smiling and happy to chat Lots of different tasty food for breakfast, and reasonable restaurant prices

Pool area could be more shady, although parasols are challenging in high winds View from the (very small) balcony would have been better without a big cruise ship in the way, but that’s not their fault! It’s on a hill, so lots of steps up to pool/rooms - could be a challenge for some people

The location is ideal and quite convenient if you don't want to be in the busy Mykonos Town, but rather stay in a quiet place enjoying the views and with a pool! Mykonos town is reachable by the sea bus; there is a terminal right in front of the hotel and it runs every 30mins/1 hour (costs 2 euro). Never needed a taxi, because the sea bus runs from early morning till late. The room was fantastic, couldn't have been better! we had a large terrace overlooking the sea/port. The hotel helped us with the pick up from the sea port and they even transferred us to the airport, free of charge. Breakfast was continental and it was ok.

What a brilliant stay - the moment I arrived at the airport was greeted by the free airport shuttle provided and then at the hotel entrance. Lovely kind staff who made stay very hospitable - special thanks to Dimitri the waiter at the hotel! Beautiful hotel exteriors, rooms large with lovely balcony, very clean and well maintained. Beautiful views of the port. Lovely pool and restaurant. Great filling breakfast and dinner very reasonable prices compared to Mykonos town. Very quick to get to Mykonos town via seabus - stop 5 min from house and takes about 10-15min into town, only 3-4 euros.

Nothing! For those who want to stay out in Mykonos town till the early hours of the morning - staying in Mykonos town may make more sense so you don't have to get the last ferry back (1am). However, if you don't mind that and want a beautiful place to stay out of the buzz (and expense) of Mykonos town, would definitely recommend this gem.

It's a family run hotel, they are nice people, so responsible, you would get what you need. We got picked up from the ferry even it's few mins walk (but under the hot weather it's difficult). It's complimentary to take us to the airport when we leave as well, but we gave some tips. Straight opposite of the hotel, you will get the water bus to the old port etc., it's in a very good location in terms of transportation wise.

We didn't explore much around, don't think there are much though. The breakfast is bit basic, but good to have lots of things already. The room is bit small and basic, but majority of the time we were outside, not really a big issue.

Staff was simply excellent trying to make our stay superb and tried to fulfil our needs. We really appreciated complimentary comfortable transport to airport. Make sure you have room with balcony at upper floor. Breakfast was just right with comfortable outside sitting area (besides indoor one). Pool area is really nice with view of whole new port. Hotel location is at a good place for travelling by ferries or taking sea bus going to city center (you can go 4 min by foot to ferry or sea bus). 9 min to Agios Stefanos beach by foot with nice Cafe and restaurants and also sunbeds available where you can spend literally whole day.

Restaurant was a bit noisy till late night when we stayed there.

The hotel in general is very good. The view for the new port is great. We liked the staff, the breakfast and the location. The hotel is 3 minutes away by car/bike from the Mykonos center and about 20 minutes by foot. So, it’s far enough from the confusion.

We didn't like the room, we stayed right at the back of the hotel overlooking a wall… terrible! Also, the room was quite different from the photos. Another thing we didn't like was the extra fee charged by the hotel to pick us up from the airport. Supposedly this service was free until 9pm but as our plane was delayed 20min, we were charged 20€.
