Regency Kanchipuram by GRT Hotels

This is probably the best hotel in Kanchi. The rooms are fine, all is working: AC (which you can fully regulate yourself and it’s good), hot shower. There was no hair dryer in the room but they brought me one when I asked (and it was a good type). Breakfast is ample and tasty. Staff is pleasant. I especially appreciate that they gave me a quiet room as I asked, this resulted in a good night sleep. The location is good for temple visits. The newspaper in the morning is a bonus. I appreciate the small gift at the check-out, thank you!

The rooms are a little dated and could do with a renovation, especially bathroom. Water from shower going over the bathroom floor (floor level shower and toilet almost the same) when showering longer. The bathroom has no ventilation and dries a long time. Driver amenities could be better. Please do not ask for a review during check-out. People are often in a hurry then. Also, when I’m wearing a face mask, it means that I’m not happy to touch many surfaces like an iPad (I was asked to do the review on the receptionists’ iPad), especially when there is no disinfecting liquid near (perhaps you could provide one at the reception anyway?).

We liked the customer service very much.

The food was not as tasty as what we found at Madurai. For example, the idli was very hard. The Madurai Chef should be asked to teach the skills to the people out here at Kanchipuram. Another suggestion is to please hire the experienced Saravana Bhavan chefs who are now no longer with that hotel. They can be poached. Full families from lower income families of Tirunelveli can also be hired. That is 45 plus couples where both the husband and wives are good chefs. You can even try Aappam and things like that for ultimate customer delight.

Staff hospitality and service was great. They would take care of everything. We initially booked a deluxe room, after arrival we realised it would be small for a family with 2 kids. Front desk staff were helpful to change to Suite room which was very spacious. Restaurant at ground floor was exquisite. Staffs there were also welcoming and courteous. Located in the center of the town. It was easy to reach good shops and temples.

Price for the rooms were on the higher side. Having a pool would have been great addition for this price. Considering other amenities and services we get it is worth spending. Beware of the auto people. They will surround you as soon as you get outside the hotel. But I think, it is common for any hotels in Kanchi.

The staff is well trained and made it very homely by being attentive. The birthday cake surprise was well organised and made it special.

Food is high priced. No mini fridge in the room for the room price paid. Only available in suites. This is a must in very hot weather. Would love to stay back if better rates are available. There was a long waiting time for check-in inspite of confirming twice.

The hotel staff gave us a warm welcome and was very helpful. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was good as well. Ms Geetha at the reception was helpful in arranging transportation for us to visit the nearby temples. The price quoted was little high seeing that all the temple were like 2 km away but the driver was very professional, took us to all places without any issues.

The service in the restaurant was too slow. Took 20-30min to serve the starters itself. One time it took them 20min to give us a menu card. The item prices are a little exorbitant. They dont mention south indian food in their menu card, you have to ask them about it specifically. The most shocking was price of a bottled water, can you believe it's Rs 80??? That's unacceptable as MRP is only Rs 20 for 1 ltr. If they would've price it Rs 30 to Rs 40 max I can understand being a high standard hotel but Rs 80 is ridiculous. I think the hotel should revisit the food prices, especially the price of a bottled water.

Am a regular here at the hotel. The location is probably the best in town despite being in a crowded part of town. Close to places of interest and temples. The breakfast was good since we were the earliest at 7am. Everything was piping hot and selections including western dishes were available. Rooms were quiet except for some negligible odd noises outside in the latter am part (monkey menace we were told). The manager @ the hotel Mr.Elamaran was most kind & efficient.

Tariff at the hotel is a lot steeper than the last time we booked. If you are self-driving, parking at the hotel is a pain due to space constraint. This time we encountered some bed bugs at night, the water from the bathing area seeps under the glass window onto the wash basin area. Some issues crept up regarding Service Charges but all were attended to quite effectively by the manager. If some fine tuning, this hotel can really cater to visitors.

The hospitality was excellent. The thing that I’ll never forget is, there is no trolley to take our bags up. so, we’ve decided to take our bags up feeling pitiful for the bellboy. seeing us, the manager himself helped us with the bag and the room. The hotel staffs were soooo well trained.

there’s nothing that I don’t like but, just a suggestion, maybe u should get some trolleys for the poor bell boy to take our begs.

The hotel meets the standard. The breakfast is just ok. The location is good because it is right at the city center. The staffs are very helpful with nice smile and communication.

The interior of the hotel is a bit worn-out. They don't provide other kind of coffee but the local one for breakfast.

location of this hotel is very central and convenient for saree shopping and temple visits. Breakfast was very good and spread was also good Staffs were very friendly and manager even arranged for complimentary packed lunch for the entire family when we checked out

Rooms were small in size

The hotel is just next to the main road therefore the vehicles sounds are active till late and starts early as well. Good breakfast kind staff. Suggesting the hotel to make it more comfy and provide 4 star facilities in future.
