River Island Hotel

We were a bit apprehensive before we arrived, as the Hotel was only classed as 3 star. However, we were very pleasantly surprised, every thing was lovely, from check in to check out. The Hotel is a small one and run by a very small, efficient and friendly staff. Extremely good value. Our room was very nice, comfortable bed, spotlessly clean and nice and quiet. We had both dinner and breakfast in the Hotel, which were both delicious. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. In particular, I have to comment on Eileen, who, at breakfast, had to deal with a very demanding, rude couple who found fault with everything, even having demanded extra food, which the Man, having finished what he wanted, decide to invent an imaginary hair in his food. Eileen was so courteous and polite in her dealing with these individuals, that she was complimented by other diners, when these people left. We will have no problem recommending the Hotel to all our Family and Friends .

It was lovely & clean, lovely features & the room had everything we needed for our stay!

The windows opened wide no safety latch, was fine for us as two adults in the room but a safety aspect with children.

cleanliness , staff were fantastic and just couldn’t do enough to please the people staying here and they really go all out to ensure you have a more than brilliant time and stay so thanks very very much as always , location is superb to nearby to Kerry Airport so nice and nearby and also a great location to go to many other towns around Kerry .. beautiful busy farming town is Castleisland where everyone is just so nice and friendly that’s why I always return and I’ve stayed at river island a few times now and it will be my choice again and again in future trips to Kerry .

The hotel itself was bright and clean with lovely seating areas to relax . It was on the mainstreet so very near everything . Checking in was easy and the man that checked us in was really pleasent . The bedrooms were very clean and comfortable and a lovely deep bath tub . The staff were lovely .

Not so much that i didnt like but the main bar was closed . There was a little bar but it didnt feel like a bar . It seems normal practice now but check out was just leave your key at reception and go . I think its always nice to be thanked for staying and its always a nice opportunity to say thank you and goodbye too .

Went there with my partner who had a birthday and the guy I was speaking with on the phone was so nice and friendly he was so good to leave a gesture of a happy birthday note and Prosecco in our room it’s was so sweet thank you so much fir your hospitality also the rooms were very clean and their breakfast was plentiful and delicious each morning we really enjoyed our stay thank you again River Island Hotel

Sorry to have to write this only complaint but it needs to be said the girl at reception was so rude and impatient even from the time I rang for directions to the hotel that morning on arrival and It continued right through out our stay, so impatient with 2 elderly couples about a password for the Wi-Fi I was even embarrassed for them it was so uncomfortable In front of reception with lots of people there I even wrote down the password for the elderly couples because I would like to think someone would help my elderly parents, it’s as simple as having a bit of respect but that is our only big complaint.

The staff were very responsive and really accommodating to us specially when we had last minute changes to our trip. Their breakfast buffet was very delicious too. We were not able to try their bar and grill but we were able to get food around the place since they are surrounded by a lot of good restaurants (Nana Bea's and Country Market).Another, going back and forth to Killarney is easily accessible using public transport (Bus 14) since the bus stop is right outside the hotel. Overall, we had a very good experience with this hotel.

Small town, hotel in the centre. Staff were wonderful. Cost was exceptionally good and breakfast great. Free Parking on the street directly outside the hotel. And a list of local activities displayed in the lobby for customers who would like to sample the Irish music/singing session scene.

Nothing. A lovely friendly hotel which completely undercut any hotel in nearby Tralee for an overnight stay. 50% cheaper and only 18 mins drive from Tralee. Could not believe how lucky I was.

The breakfast was very good. They even offered porridge which few places do. Lovely staff. a wonderful building, obviously a traditional hotel which had been extended but kept its original features, even a little library for guests. The ensuite included a bath. The location looked a nice country town.

The mattress was rather soft so you tended to roll into the centre otherwise fine.

Great location in the centre of the town with free on street overnight parking. Hotel is basic and needs upgrading but that was reflected in the price paid. Room was clean and comfortable as was the bathroom. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was reasonably priced.

I checked in around 9pm but there was no staff member at reception and had to go to the bar area to request check in. Rooms and communal areas were dated and could do with upgrading.

The location was excellent and the staff was friendly and helpful. There was parking right in front from the previous night till 11 AM. We came with a rental car, so this was upmost convenient.

We booked a double room but we got 3 beds which took up so much space to manoeuvre around. The doors are designed to slam shut loudly which woke up up at 5-6AM when other guests from the tour bus checked out.
