Grande Albergo Alfeo

On arrival we were upgraded into a very comfortable corner suite with sitting area and spacious bedroom. The hotel is an older building that has been carefully maintained and is well decorated. It’s on the “mainland” part of Siracusa, not the island of Ortigia. There are several good, small restaurants nearby.

Breakfast is disappointing for a 4star hotel. Canned pineapple and peaches don’t impress when equivalent hotels are offering freshly prepared melon/ pineapple/ watermelon. Even a prepared salad of fresh oranges with mint would be a zero food miles possibility.

Grande Albergo Alfeo has great location - lot of popular tourist attractions are in walking distance (Ortigia island, Neapolis Archaeological park) and great choice of dining facilities. If you arrived here by car - there are great parking place (Parling Syracusa 15eiro / 24h) located just in 5 min walking distance. If you are interested in 'Hop on - hop off" excursions - starting piont is located same direction as Syracusa Parking, very close to hotel. Staff - very proffesional, heplful and polite. Always ready to help. Room was spacy. Comfortable beds. Breakfast buffet was really good for Sicily - continental breakfast, not only italian style breakfast. Great choice for nice stay!

Location was ideal a 10min walk from the train station and a further 10 to ortigia island and old town. Hotel was very quite, clean, comfortable and offered a great tour of an olive grove with terra surti a must visit. I also availed of fishing with IG matea.buggea.fisherman. great experience and catch of a lifetime. One restaurant camurria, stood out around the corner. Sicilian family run, very friendly, accomadating and value for money. Touche across from the hotel didnt disappoint.

There was no evening dining in the hotel and no real atmosphere. But with everything on the doorstep its a reasonable priced, quite property

We stayed at Hotel Alfeo many times. Rooms are the same as in previous visits, but breakfast seems to have improved (keep it up) and complimentary lemon granita at reception is back, which is very refreshing after returning from a day out.

The hotel does not offer parking and usually we find free parking close to the hotel, but maybe a suggestion to Management could be to arrange with the paid public parking that is close by for a few free slots. Would avoid having to drive around the block a couple of times as people come and go, and the paid parking is really underutilised.

Grande Albergo Alfeo will be great choice if you're traveling by car - really close to the hotel is great parking place ((Parling Syracusa), Ortigia island and Neapolis Archaeological park - just walking distance. Great choice of amazing dining places are located in Ortigia, as well as Market and a lot of shopping places. And don't forget about architecture and historycal objects. Hotel has nice interieur, our room was spacy with small french balcony. Very good breakfast with plenty choice of food. Good wi-fi. Very helpful and nice staff.

We stayed several times at the Hotel Alfeo. It is quite central. Just a few minutes walk to Ortigia and always find parking near hotel, although sometimes we have to drive around the block. There I paid parking close to hotel and at time of writing costs EUR 15 per day. Seems breakfast got upgraded a little from our last stay.

WIFI was terrible in the room that we had. It was the last room on the second floor. I guess an access point should be moved a little closer as we never had issues before.

Clean, great aircon, great showers, excellent breakfast. Big thanks to MAURIZIO at reception who located my lost wallet and kept it safe for me - legendary! I loved that they made you coffee to order at breakfast and they had SOY milk! Free lemon granita at reception too! Wow!

I noticed that there were fresh folded hotel dressing gowns on the housekeeping trolley in the corridor and this made me sad as my room did not contain dressing gowns. I love a hotel gown!

Excellent location walking distance to Ortigia and to/from bus stop from Catania/Airport. Staff was really friendly and polite, extremely helpful and caring. I requested an iron during my stay and it was on my bedroom upon arrival. Full minibar. Nice seaview from my bedroom roof balcony. Standard breakfast was very simple but just what I needed. My room was very large and spacious.

There is a huge parking spot nearby which is great and the hotel is located 10 min walk from Ortigia. The breakfast was great with wide selection. We liked the inner patio within the hotel.

Our room was facing to the smaller street where the hotel entrance is with the bar on the corner, where some party was going on overnight, and was a bit noisy even with closed windows.

Very comfortable bed with one large mattress which is unusual as most hotels now just push two single mattresses together. Breakfast was also very pleasant.

The hotel lobby is not at all inviting as a space to sit down and spend time. There was some building works at the time of our stay in the hotel which although well managed was not pleasant.
