Albergo San Domenico

I studied at the University of Urbino for a semester WAY! Back in 1981 when I was at Rutgers University, I decided to go back to Urbino after 42 years. The hotel is centrally located and it offers great value for money. It is just across from the Palazzo Ducale and the National Gallery and only a 2 or 3-minute walk to the University of Urbino's campus in the city. It's only a 10-minute walk to Casa Natale di Raffaello. We walked to the campus which was about 1 mile away, it was great to reminisce about being an undergrad again. The staff were friendly and welcoming and were helpful with booking a taxi to take us to San Marino, which is only an hour away. There are many GREAT restaurants in Urbino, when you go, do your research and make sure you have reservations. The hotel's breakfast buffet is awesome.

I enjoyed my stay very much, especially the size and comfort of the room. The location of the hotel is excellent, directly opposite the major attractions in this wonderful, historic small city. I did not have breakfast.

Better use could be made of the reception/entrance area to provide a more attractive ambience. There could be better information for visitors about transport between Urbino and Pesaro, including written advice about arrival in the booking information. The publicly available web-based information is difficult to access and understand, even in English, but the hotel could fill in this gap.

Excellent location, quiet, reasonably priced parking in the courtyard below. Staff very helpful and discrete. the room was spacious and excellent. We went out for breakfast however the buffet was well adorned with a good choice of various fresh food

The beds were very hard and our double room had two beds pushed together which when we were both in the middle, came apart. Amusing but not very comfortable

perfect location, just in front of Palazzo Ducale and the Duomo so everything that needs to be seen is max 10mins walk. Great customer service, super nice, friendly and helpful!

Rooms are a bit dated, but they are super large and big and clean so it's just a style thing. Maybe would be nice to renovate a bit the interior of the rooms but again they were spacious and clean so nothing to complain about :)

It's obvious that the property has previously been in use as a seminary and I think a little more work could be done to adapt it to it's present use, without losing it's atmosphere.

The San Domenico is a lovely old-fashioned hotel. Right opposite the Palazzo Ducale but very quiet at night its location is unbeatable. Our room had an eight- piece suite of Arts and Crafts furniture which so many modern hotels would have got rid of. Breakfast was ok - and most people would say it was good but we like bananas and good muesli which were not on offer. We would definitely stay there again when in Urbino.

Quite difficult to find by car, we missed a crucial turning and had to drive through the centre to get back to the beginning again. Hope we don’t get a fine.

The property is located in the heart of the old town and it’s meters away from all the touristic attractions. The room was spacious and clean, very comfortable and the staff was welcoming and kind. It was parking and that was helpful also.

The hotel was in a great location. Another plus was that the hotel had its own parking lot which is super convenient.

The only thing I didn’t like was the shower head was broken (couldn’t be kept high, kept sliding down the post).
