Comfort Hotel Kyoto Horikawagojo

The room was spacious with 3 single beds. The bathroom was a bit small but functional. What I liked best was they were all super clean! Breakfast was good and the self-service laundry room was useful for us.

The air-conditioner was a bit hard to control (it turned on when we did not touch the control panel at all). And if you take the bus from the Kyoto Station to the hotel, it will take a bit effort to get to it even though the bus stop and the hotel were just one crossroad away from each other (either you have to use a footbridge or you have to walk about two hundred meters extra)

I had previously stayed at Comfort Hotel Kanayama in Nagoya and really loved it there, so I knew I could trust the Comfort Hotel chain to provide me with a clean, nice place to stay in Kyoto! The room is small, but has everything you need and is cleaned very well. The breakfast is also delicious and I love that it is complimentary!

I felt like the location wasn't quite as central as I'd expected it to be. However, there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, so it wasn't to hard to get around the city. I also wish they'd maybe refill the water in the lobby a bit more. For example, I got a glass at 9:00pm and could definitely tell that it had been sitting out all day. Also, even though it's not central, it is on a busy road so there was some traffic noise, but that was to be expected.

Walkable distance from Kyoto Station. The coin laundry facility was a lifesaver since we stayed with babies.

They serve a Western style breakfast, not Japanese style. The room was so hot when we checked in. Please ask for help with the AC if you can't figure it out. The air circulation mode was enough to keep it at a comfortable temperature.

Very clean and classy hotel. Locker for baggage at the front desk for free is very convenient and safe. Self service checkin. Staff is super friendly. Sheets of restaurant walking distance is very helpful. Those are all small details that makes your stay better :) Washing machine very easy to use and decent price. Buffet breakfast has lots of variety and is delicious. Right in front of the train station, also a Hop on Hop off stop 2 minutes walk. Convenience store and pharmacy close by. Easy access by bus to Gion area or even only 30 minutes walk.

Rooms are VERY small. No space to move around and no storage.

Location was very good for all the things we wanted to see, hired bikes, places to eat and sites to visit. This was the friendliest staff of all 6 Comfort Hotels we’ve stayed in over the last 4 weeks. Reception girls always welcomed us, Kazumbi, a breakfast attendant was always smiling, friendly and happy to chat, very nice to start our day with a nice happy person.

Earlier check in if the particular guests room is ready. We arrived at 2pm, it was good that we could store our luggage for free, but if our room was ready it would have been easier to check in and put our bags in our room.

The room was very spacious with good facilities and comfortable. Compared to other hotel rooms in Japan, it's exceptional. Their security is excellent; you need to use your room key card to mobilize the lift to go to your floor. Even though we didn't ask for daily cleaning services, they would leave a bag of clean towels, a new toothbrush set, and green tea sachets hanging on our door handle. The daily buffet breakfast was superb, including freshly made juice from vegetables and fruits, and you can choose to take your breakfast to your room. They have a cozy library in the reception/dining area where you can chill out and relax. Although we didn't read any of the books there, it was nice just to sit there and soak up the atmosphere. No wonder it's called the Comfort Hotel. By far the best we have stayed in. We would gladly stay there again and highly recommend this hotel.

The location could be a little nearer to the main shops but what the Comfort Hotel provided outweighs this minor dislike.

We liked the café library in the lobby. We took meetings there, ate our takeouts and it was a nice place to be. Staff was very friendly and spoke enough English. The laundromat was not as crowded as other hotels even though they only had 3 machines, but you could monitor the usage from the room TV. Breakfast service was varied. Close to subway. Rooms are small all over Japan, but we were able to open both carry-ons in the room (don't take big luggage to Japan unless you are willing to pay for the extra space!)

The bed in our room had a dip in the center so I slept on the edge.

The stay was wonderful. The hotel room was clean with a comfortable bed. The staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and had good options. Every morning you could see most of the hotel would stop by to grab something to eat. It was located infront of a bus stop which took you right to the Kyoto city station. If you wanted to walk it was an easy 15 minutes in the morning to the station. Also they had an area to lock luggage after you checked out. My fiance and I were able to lock up and explore the city more before moving on to Osaka.

Comfort hotel is a decent hotel with a budget friendly price. It has a bus stop just in front of the hotel which allowed us to get around with ease. One of the highlight of our stay in Comfort hotel was the free breakfast that they offered to us despite we booked it without one :). Saving some money aside, their breakfasts are quite decent as well. And the free coffee! I must had consumed god knows how many coffee during my stay.

They have an extremely soft bed. Questionably soft bed that resulted us having low back pain during our stay. Besides that, the bed is extremely small that barely fit both my partner.

Breakfast was European breakfast but the variety was limited so we did not eat it for all 5 days of our stay. But the food was absolutely delicious! There isn't too much food (restaurants) options around us but it is very close to Kyoto Station which has a ton of food and shopping options! The bus stops around the hotel easily took us everywhere around Kyoto and the train station is only 10 minutes walk away which is really not bad.

The staff were super helpful and nice! Just wished that there was food option within the hotel during the afternoon and for dinner just in case travellers get tired and don't wish to leave the hotel for food. Room was a tiny bit small and it was tough to open up our luggage in the room flat.
