MIMARU KYOTO SHINMACHI SANJO

We were impressed by the size of the room. We were also pleasantly surprised to have a second toilet. The layout was well thought of with sliding doors to provide a separate space and some privacy. Loved that we had a washing machine with laundry detergent provided. Loved the location which was in a quiet side street but walking distance to Karasuma Oike Station. Toilet paper was good quality, not thin like other hotels. Staff were very efficient. Our luggage, which arrived while we were out, were sent to our room on the fourth floor. We were lucky we got this at a good price as it can be quite pricey but definitely well worth it.

This was a great spot to stay in Kyoto and a wonderful halfway through our trip experience. We booked a half "European" (two beds) and half Japanese (two futons) room. It worked perfect for two adults and two teenagers. Everyone found their beds to be super comfortable. Toilet closet is so convenient when four people share a bathroom. The room had a little kitchen, we didn't cook but it was great to have a second sink. Laundry in the room was wonderful! It's not a traditional hotel with all amenities/toiletries, but they have a bunch by the front desk free of charge. Front door locks at 10 or 11 pm, but your key gets you in. Short walk to the train station and to a mall type area with stores (Beams Japan etc.) and restaurants (Pio Pico was yummy!), and there was a great vinyl selector at the beer place for happy hour. Family Mart is steps away. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby to explore, a fantastic part of Kyoto.

The room was amazing. The layout was perfectly suited to our family, with bunk bed for ourboys. The staff at the front desk spoke English and many other languages which is very helpful. They were always there to assist if we had any questions or needed directions. I want to point out one of the staff in particular, it was our sons birthday good day with checked in. I rang ahead to ask if they could organise something small in the room for our arrival? Mayu organised an amazing cake, a small gift and decorations in the room which really made and sons birthday very special. Thankyou Mayu!

We booked this hotel in Kyoto with possibly little understanding of the best locations to stay. The location was in a lovely quiet area and an easy walk to the subway and public transport. There are some local restaurants in the area and convenience stores however we typically travelled to go out for dinner. The room was perfect and we had room for our luggage. All the necessary amenities were available and we were able to store our luggage for the day as we went exploring further afield.

It was possibly a little more expensive than we had expected vs other locations we had stayed in Japan but it was a holiday weekend which we weren't aware of (so make sense).

It was an amazing place to stay with family. This was the best hotel we stayed at for our trip. It was clean, big (enough for 5 adults) and the location was great. The bath tub was the star of the room. The toilet was also large. All in, we love this place.

While most of the staff were really great, we did encounter a little issue with the advice given regarding temporary parking. We were told by one staff that we could collect our rental car and park it on the premises for 30 mins to load up the luggages on the day we left, but after collecting the car the next day, we were told we couldn’t. In the end though, we were given 10 mins to park and load the luggages. Perhaps they should train their staff to give accurate information. It was lucky that we only collected the car on the day we checked our. Otherwise it would have been an issue trying to get parking sorted.

Room was spacious! Large dining table and 2 sofas which made it very comfortable when we were chilling in the apartment or having meals in. Humidifier and air conditioning were working well. Friendly staff. Nice kitchenette which had the necessary stuff to cook a simple meal. 4 beds provided for 2 adults! we were spoilt for choice! ha. Toilet and Bathrooms were nice too

I had the impression i paid for a room w separate bedroom and living room. They were indeed separated by a sliding partition but the partition had holes on the top and bottom so it did not block light or sound. May be a bit tricky if you're staying w more people and some may want to sleep first. Would have prefered a proper bedroom door. Also, the walls / flooring are pretty thin. We were unfortunate to have a family staying on top of us and the kids were running back and forth all day all night and it was really really annoying. We could hear every footstep they made.

Great space. Love the tatami area for the kids. It had a fridge, microwave, cooking utensils, and a washing machine which were really useful. They also replace towels daily. Location was on a quiet road but near to many shops and easy walk to the main street. They lock the doors after 10pm for security reasons so guests must carry their key card to enter the main lobby and lift lobby. They allow bag storage so after check out, we left our bags so that we could go for our brunch and continue to explore the city.

All good and no issues.

Location was perfect. Only 3 subway stops from Kyoto Station. Walkable to Nijo castle and Nishiki market. Big comfortable and clean room. Clothes washing machine in the unit washes and dries clothes in the same machine. We've never seen that before we were able to leave the property with all our clothes clean and dry. After we checked out we were able to leave our suitcases with the front desk for free so we could continue to explore the city for a few more hours before heading to our next hotel.

We loved our stay at this hotel. Not only was everything arranged well but the bathroom was fantastic. Loved how clean and wonderful it was. The best part was the location....we could have just walked and walked for days and explored shops and cafes and everything. Plus, we were only about 5 minutes from the nearest subway. A wonderful stay!!

It would have been nice to have the floor vacuumed since we stayed for so long. Maybe they would have if we had asked.

This hotel was centrally located and very easily accessible! The room we had was very large and was perfect for a family of 4, including 2 teens who each had their own bunk bed. The hotel was also located very close to public transportation and getting around Kyoto was a breeze. The hotel was very clean and located in a great neighborhood with a Family Mart in walking distance for last minute supplies and snacks. Highly recommend!
