My room was so amazing that I did not want to leave it. It had the most amazing hinoki wood soaking tub and rain shower, microwave, mini fridge, and washer/dryer. The location of the hotel was perfect as well. 5 min walk to Nishiki Market or Karasuma Oike Subway station. The front desk staff were also very helpful (the cab I ordered through the online concierge never showed up so she ordered me a new one and it arrived in 5 min) and there is free self-serve sake in the lobby in the evenings. This hotel was honestly one of the best things about my trip to Japan. I would 100% stay here again. ^_^

No breakfast options—kaiseki or buffet—for breakfast like with other hotels other than tea sandwich delivery. They should partner with a nearby restaurant to offer a proper breakfast and thus round out their facility offerings.

Can’t fault this place - it was exceptional! The room was absolutely lovely with our wooden bath for a soak for our own private onsen experience (of course after having a good shower). The staff welcomes us and we’re helpful, the sake happy hour was a treat too! The location was ideal for getting to Gion and all the various temples and shrines. We did also try the traditional breakfast one morning and that was good fun! In the room, having use of a washing machine was super useful.

Really nothing much at all. Just some super tiny things and by no means deal breakers for us. The coffee from the machine, which is free, did not provide good coffee so I’d give this a miss. Also, for the western rooms the mattresses are single and not doubles, but we were aware of that and still chose to stay at the hotels.

Convenient location to trains and buses to get around Kyoto. The staff are friendly and speak English well, which was helpful for us. The room is spacious and clean. Loved that it had a washer dryer! We booked this hotel for the washer dryer to reduce the amount of clothing to pack. The beds are comfortable, each side having their own charging station, and the bathroom has sliding doors to give you privacy or an open layout feel. The hotel is beautiful, the amenities were great, and it is noise-proof. We didn’t hear anything from neighboring rooms or outside during our stay.

The property was in an amazing location near a lot of beautiful restaurants, coffee shops, and moderns aesthetic stores. There are pharmacy and family marts around as well. Plenty of random spots to eat and in my honest option had the best sushi at ate so far at a random drinking spot called “Yatai Ya Karasuma-Shop” they had an English menu and everything is pretty automated there. They don’t take Suica but your AMEX or credit card will work. I’ve also used my Apple Credit card.

Nothing to dislike about the property but if you are planning to ship your luggage it will take about 1 full day just FYI

The location is fantastic. Very convenient to bus stops/ subways, the famous local market, and department stores. There are many lovely shops, coffee shops in the neighborhood.

The rule of enjoying the Sake is a little confusing. The hotel offers Free Sake in the lobby. However, the glass cups are used up very soon because many guests bring 6 glass cups of Sake at once back to their rooms. We need to wait for new glass cups for some time or use paper cups instead.

The rooms are incredibly clean, well designed and spacious, we loved enjoying the wood bath after a 20km walk. Having a mini kitchen was also really great. Our stay was quiet & comfortable, right in the heart of a really cool area in Kyoto — super accessible to all other attractions via train or walking.

The bed was a little uncomfortable (but that’s a personal preference I suppose). Still a great hotel and would highly recommend this stay.

Absolutely loved the hotel! My partner and I loved the location to the centre of Kyoto but also enjoyed the combination of both traditional and modern style within the hotel. We especially loved the “all you can drink” sake in the evenings whilst in the stunning lobby of the hotel. Our room was super spacious, more than enough for two people. Also! The wooden bathtub was absolutely amazing!!! Would definitely come here again!

Great location! We really liked the calmness and the elegance of both the lobby and the room. We didn't really interact with the staff a lot (wasn't needed apart from check-in and check-out) but they seemed really friendly and considerate. The coffee and sake bar in the lobby was a nice addition! The bathtub in the room was excellent.

The hotel could perhaps think of offering better choices (or at least like list of tips) for breakfast. We found a good café (Ushiro) with excellent breakfast nearby but it took a little bit of our own research to find it.

Everything was excellent from the very well designed and equipped room (which had comfortable beds, a bench seat and table, a magnificent round wooden bath and a separate shower ) to the daily provision in the lounge to the helpfulness of the staff dedicated to looking after us. The room also had a washer dryer and a microwave as well as a kettle and hot plate. Extremely clean and welcoming.
