Hotel New Nagano

What's not to like! Spacey for a Japanese hotel, clean, the room is stocked with amenities but you can also help yourself with additional ones at reception. They have a corner dedicated to helping yourself with pillows, a range of shampoos, bath salts, face masks, hair clips, slippers, you name it. I also got a complimentary donut and a drink from their vending machine on arrival. They have machines for self check in, but if you arrive during the day the reception is staffed and they were friendly and helped me check in. Location wise, it's opposite the train station, walking distance to the alpico bus stop, close to plenty of restaurants. Walkable to most tourist sites.

Nothing really.

A highly clean hotel with a perfect location—just a few steps from the station and easy to find. The staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive. Notably, there's no overpriced breakfast buffet as seen in other hotels; instead, a nice selection of food and beverages is available. The amenities downstairs were superb—a great idea! Additionally, there's a sufficient number of lockers at the entrance for luggage.

Not much to mention. The room was a bit small. A minor challenge at the breakfast buffet was the availability of only paper cups, which can be inconvenient for enjoying hot beverages. The bed had a mattress with a larger futon on top, which made it easy to slip. I'm not sure why they arranged it that way.

Location of the hotel was great as it was just opposite the train station. The breakfast buffet spread was ample and tasty, and the service staff at breakfast were always smiley. Guests were given a welcome drink of their choice from the vending machine, which was a lovely touch. Guests were also able to choose their own toiletries, bath salts, combs, hair clips etc. from communal shelves situated at the lobby. Having the option to watch Youtube on the TV was wonderful. While the breakfast place was small and sometimes too crowded to take in all guests, there was the option to take away in boxes to eat in the hotel room - the staff made special mention of this minor inconvenience upon check-in and demonstrated preparedness in managing guests' expectations.

The room was very small and made it difficult to hold even 2 luggage cases. We also asked if we could deposit our luggage for 2 nights, as we were coming back to stay again, but the staff was unable to accommodate for more than a night, even though this was possible in other small hotels we stayed in previously.

Helpful, kind staff: Due to my husband's medical emergency landing him in the hospital, my few days planned stay turned into 3 weeks. During that time, the staff, especially the manager that spoke perfect English, helped me with so many things including: finding me a room on a booked up night so I didn't have to check out and move hotels, helping me arrange for transport of boxed bicycles to Narita ( not easy!), finding me taxis for complicated trips when my husband was discharged from the hospital, printing me out copies of receipts in the format I needed for insurance, coordinating with other hotels, etc. etc. All of this help was provided with a smile and kindness. It made all the difference. The room: Wifi was very strong. The room was spacious for a Japanese room and the bed was very comfortable. The window opened providing great ventilation. The deep bathtub and bath salts were very relaxing. The desk was handy. Breakfast: Lots of variety including every day some sort of soup, eggs, bread, noodles, juices, hot drinks, yogurts, fresh apple slices, vegetables, and much more.

It was a minor inconvenience but ... Having to relog into the wifi every day, through the roomcast on the tv, seemed unnecessary.

Excellent location. Just 2 minutes walk from station. Friendly and efficient staff. The welcome donuts were a nice surprise and delicious! The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. I appreciated the extras, such as pillow library in reception area, toys and games to borrow. We were impressed with the breakfast too, which was a very affordable add-on to room price. Enough options for us even though we’re a vegetarian family with fussy kids!

Nothing really. The bed was a little too firm for me, but of course that’s just a personal preference.

great location, all the staff were very welcoming. right from entering the hotel & up to & including our room was very clean & fresh looking. room, beds & pillows were comfortable. love that downstairs you could even choose from a variety of different style pillows !!! also if you needed more amenities (eg toothbrush, washers, moisturizer sachets etc) you could pick more up. breakfast was nice, selection of Japanese & Western available. also we’re given some tokens for the drinks machine in the lobby which was a lovely surprise.

The facilities were clean and comfortable. The staff was incredibly kind, warm, and hospitable. There was an incredible selection of amenities. The location was great. Overall, a fantastic value and pleasant stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Nagano!

The breakfast was good! But we would’ve appreciated if the allergy information was available. My sister has a severe food allergy so she had trouble knowing what she could/couldn’t eat. That is my only critique!

The hotel is very close to the Nagano station. The receptionist was very gentle and helped us a lot during our stay (even though his English was not perfect, he was very helpful and we really appreciated his kindness, a big thanks to him). The room was clean and a lot of amenities (comparing to other hotels) are available in the lobby. The breakfast was a buffet with a mix of Japanese and continental dishes, I really appreciated the local juices.

Overall it was a very good value for money hotel !

Very comfortable hotel next to the train station, in a lively area with many bars and restaurants. The hotel is very clean, and the staff is very friendly. We really enjoyed the breakfast, which was varied, well-presented, and had healthy options. The hotel offers free parking, but only until 10 am; after that time, there is a charge per hour. My kids enjoyed the amenities offered and also the free welcome drink upon arrival.

Nothing to highlight. I would return to this hotel without hesitation.

Exceeded my expectations with comfortable rooms and lots of amenities. It's near a fantastic shopping and restaurant precinct (just across the canal). It also offers free drinks, including alcohol, every evening to help you unwind after your day of exploring. Super friendly staff and even a couple of cute robot dogs to greet you. Highly recommend!!

The onsen is lovely, though it is small and can get busy. Just be flexible with your timings and it's great.
