El Alquimista Yoga Spa

Everything. Beautiful location, at the end of the beach. Great views. Restful decor and large balcony, especially as we were upgraded from a QS room to a massive space with KS bed (thank you). Really clean. Friendly staff ( hi Angel). Quiet pool with lots of shaded sun beds, never crowded. Reasonably good spa with massages and facials. Good restaurant on the beach with lots of choices and cocktails. Hotel has negotiated a discount rate for taxis from Huetalco Airport of $800 pesos- no need to pre-book, just go to the taxi desk outside the airport exit.

A couple of minor things - responses to pre-arrival emails were slow and often required chasing. Light in the room was a bit of issue - no curtains meant the room was too bright in the early morning, but the artificial lights were too dull to read by at night.

The management and staff are amazing, and the property is beautiful and peaceful. This was my third stay in Zipolite, and I always return to El Alquimista. I have a very demanding, stressful life, so this trip was for my birthday. There are many reasons I returned. First off, when I booked, I called to request the same room I was in during my first visit, and the staff accommodated me without any problems, concerns, and issues - It's stunning. Secondly, I ran into some problems with my bank, so I was not able to pay in full at check-in. The staff understood, invited me to relax, and told me we would resolve it. I was able to pay in full using an alternative processor three days in. Never was I questioned, hounded for payment, or bothered about settling my balance during my stay. On the contrary, I was always greeted with a smile, immense courtesy, and an attitude of "you are here to relax and enjoy yourself - all will be well." And it was. I even wrote a letter to the manager to let the entire staff know that I appreciated each and every one of them--they put my value as a person and my need to relax above the business matter. I doubt I would have received that kind of care and support at most hotel properties. They are amazing, and it's a wonderful place to get away. I couldn't give a higher recommendation. If you're looking for peace and quiet, outstanding service and care, beautiful surroundings, and amazing food - look no further. Book today!

There was really nothing at all I did not like about El Alquimista. I felt completely taken care of, the staff was informative, kind, helpful, and non-intrusive. In some ways, it was like staying with family. I made many friends both at the property and from Zipolite and in the nearby towns. I love this part of Mexico for a getaway. If you're looking for a rowdy, loud, "party" atmosphere, book one of the other properties close by. If you are like me, and prefer a calm, quiet, zen-like experience, El Alquimista is where you should stay. You can always take a short walk over to one of the other properties to join the revelry and party atmosphere. For me, it was perfect. I always knew when I was done with that kind of experience, I could return to El Alquimista and decompress from it all.

Couldn't recommend this place enough. The staff is extremely friendly, we even received an upgrade to a room with AC which turned out to be a blessing given the humidity. The location is excellent in a little semi-secluded nook of the beach, the design of the hotel is lush and green, and you can just roll out of bed and onto the beach. Special shout out to the cleaning service who left the room spotless each time (a miracle given how much sand we'd bring in). Yoga in the mornings was lots of fun and we really liked the instructor and palapa space. The food at the restaurant was good, maybe a bit pricey for the area but the beautiful setting makes up for it.

No complaints at all

Fantastic staff and hotel with an excellent restaurant - the best one we found in the whole Mazunte/Zipolite area. The only reason we left the grounds was to head to a swimming beach in Mazunte - the surf literally washing up to the beachside dining pretty much wants to kill you, but it is flat-out spectacular to watch with a cold beverage and delicious ceviche in hand. Very well-run establishment, amazing beachside dining and chilling, excellent vibe all all-around.

Not much, really. It definitely is not a safe swimming beach for all but experts and the local surf bros but it is an exceptional ly scenic and awe-inspiring piece of ocean to stay next to!

Beautiful setting, well-run property, excellent housekeeping and fantastic restaurant.

Sewer gas was coming from the overfilled septic system and into our cabana. Workers were constantly uncovering the tanks and pumping, adding to the foul smells. The room was rustic and charming; however, given the climate (hot and humid), better or additional fans should be provided to help guests rest better at night. Also, additional lighting would be a big plus — it was nearly impossible to see yourself shaving in the bathroom mirror. :+)

The room size is bigger than I expected and very clean. The staff at the restaurant is very kind and professional. The food and cocktails are amazing. The hotel is situated at the end of the beach that is separated by a big rock so you feel like if you have a private little beach, unfortunately the days I stayed the waves were quite big so I didn't manage to swim, but instead I enjoyed the swimming pool. All the hotel is inside of a little tropical jungle, its nice to walk around those little paths between the plants and trees to arrive to the rooms or swimming pool. The atmosphere in general is quiet and you are in touch with nature.

INTERNET IS TERRIBLE! was better last visit and now should be more luxurious. should be coffee in the room or near where water is kept, a few snacks in fridge, a few water craft. READING lights and blackout curtains, candles or dimmers, windows or screens depending on the room where sound is a problem, it would take very little to make it much more comfortable for the price— improve the pool , outside showers on the room patios and foot rinses around, something for soft music in every room or Alexa if not loud

THE ONLY THING THAT I WOULD CHANGE IS THAT BEEING THE MORE EXPENSIVE HOTEL IN THE AREA AND FOR THE PRICE WE DID PAY FOR THE ROOM, DIDNT HAVE A BREAKFAST INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. THATS FOR ME A BIT ANNOYING WE HAD TO PAY POR EVERY SINGLE COFFEE THAT WE HAD, ALSO I THINK I STAYED IN ONE OF THE MORE EXPENSIVE ROOMS THERE, THIS ONE DIDNT HAVE AIR CONDITIONED AND ALSO ANY KIND OF COURTAINS SO WAS A BIT HOT AND ALSO, VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING WE WAKED UP CAUSE OF THE SUNLIGHT,

Everything was great! The location was beautiful and peaceful. The room was clean and well-appointed with a nice, private outdoor space attached. The morning yoga classes were so lovely and supportive, as were the couple's massages we got in the spa. The ambiance in the restaurant was impeccable, perfect place to relax and take in the ocean breeze!
