Hotel Puerto Libre

New and clean hotel, great location and amazing panorama.

The hotel was very clean, staff was fantastic and able to recommend multiple options for lunches and dinners (we wanted to go where the locals would eat, and they were AMAZING!!) Highly recommend: La Classica (authentic gourmet mexican) 1 block behind the hotel , take a right and just up 1 block and a bit El Nero taqueria (2 silver taco carts and seating behind) 6 streets behind and 6 blocks to the right (beside a Domino's- DONT eat there) The shampoo and body lotion provided (please don't take it, they refill the bottles) was very nice and refreshing, the lotion did exactly as mentioned and was soothing for my tan, turned it from red to brown overnight!

My only complaint would be the lack of water pressure in the shower. As a woman with long hair it takes FOREVER to get the shampoo out.

The hotel was very new and was quite clean and well-maintained. It was an easy walk to shops and restaurants and to the ferry. Our rooms were nice and modern, with a nice TV and a comfortable bed. I appreciated that there was a small fridge, a safe, coffee, and a bottle of water in the room.

Just small issues. The building next door plays music 24/7, so when we woke on Sunday at 7 am and wanted to sit on the balcony we had to listen to their loud music playing, which was very unpleasant. I also wish that the hotel provided more bottled water for guests to refill water bottles from, because we had to go to the store and buy quite a few more during our stay. It also would have been nice just for them to provide fresh-brewed coffee for guests for free each morning also. Many other hotels do this, and I always like it when it’s available.

The staff was very nice and helpful, the restaurant/bar/pool area was nice, and the hotel is visible from the ferry and only a 5-10 minute walk from both the port and the center of Cozumel. The room was clean and the shower worked well. The hotel helped us reserve two spots on a snorkel tour to El Cielo.

The breakfast that’s included in the hotel rate is not very filling so if you’re going on a snorkel tour after make sure you eat something extra. If you want to go to the beaches like Palancar they are a little far away, about 25 minutes by taxi which cost us around 300 pesos one way.

New, very well maintained, quiet and very clean! Excellent customer service and helpful staff. Lovely to come home to. Top notch shower and AC worked perfectly. We popped our heads into the other hotels in town — this one was by far the nicest. The pool is charming and the welcome drinks were a nice touch. Terrific views from the higher floors and had the best cluster of restaurants within blocks on the island. Would definitely stay again!

The location in proximity to our dive shop was a longer walk than we anticipated (15 mins to the dock). But worth it for the quality of the stay and the surrounding restaurants / bars.

The grounds and architecture of this hotel are beautiful and it is very small, so it feels like a home in a way. The staff was amazing - very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. If you are spending time in the main downtown area it is a perfect location!

The hotel is new, so it is understandable that it is still working things out, but they should have notified customers that they don’t have their liquor license yet, so the bar at the pool is actually not open. The snack bar only serves breakfast from 8-11… would be nice to have all day pool food. The rooms could be stocked with more products - a small coffee maker, more water bottles, wash cloths, a bath robe - these amenities are what one would expect from a more luxurious hotel.

Our corner room was great. Comfy beds. Close to the pool. Great location. Staff was exceptional.

Wifi was erratic and at times there was none. After four days the restaurant in the small pool area opened to the public and none of the hotel guests felt comfortable going into the pool until after 3:00 pm when the restaurant closed. If that doesn't bother you, we can't say enough good things about the hotel.

Beautiful boutique hotel right on the Main Street, immediate proximity to the ocean. Rooms were very tidy, new, and sparkling clean. Rain shower was super nice and great for rinsing all the diving gear off. Loved staying here!

We liked everything. Small touches like umbrellas for guests to use during a storm and extra towels (washcloths and hand towels) would be nice. We extended our stay and found that our first room didn’t have a coffee maker, but the second one did.

Brand new building, beautiful facilities. The location is perfect, just 5 min walking distance from the ferry’s port. Great wifi in the rooms, and they have also private parking slots available inside the property. Definitely recommended. The staff was very nice as well.

Just missing a full body mirror in the room, and amenities such as kettle or coffee machine. They are still finishing some construction I guess and they don’t provide meals besides the breakfast in the morning that is being made behind the pool bar. But I guess this will change soon once they finish their kitchen.

The staff were very helpful in helping us get a rental car and getting us little things like beach towels, toiletries and bottled water.

When the website says free continental breakfast of bread and fruit that’s exactly what they mean. It was served beautifully by the pool and made to order. But it was literally, coffee, toast and fruit. It was nice and held us up until lunch for the most part . I’m thinking instead of paying 4 guys to do all of that and mostly just sit around you can hire two people to set up a little make your own plate and coffee set up which would be convenient considering we had to wait till 8 am for them to make coffee.
